It's like every killer has M&A [Revert the sound]

With the newest patch you decided to turn the music down, which was a horrible idea. I can't tell how close the killer is to me and the chase doesn't feel intense. Very few people complained about the volume of music before the patch. Please revert this with the GF hotfix, it's just horrible and feels so wrong.

The music really helped make chases feel more tense and scary. Now it's more of a background noise than anything and it's hard to tell how close the killer is. Only way this has helped me was when I played killer cause survivors were so easy to hear. Though when I play survivor I like having a podcast or stream going in the background but now I can't do that cause I won't be able to hear the heartbeat/music playing.

@TAG it was insanely loud before.

It was stupid loud before. It's awesome now, I can hear survivors breathing. Like holy hell that is bad ass. I can hear footsteps and I dare you to self care in my terror radius, no need for nurses anymore.

I like it, makes survivors have to play smart, I was so tired of survivors just juking and spinning around me then theirs tracks everywhere so it can be confusing and the worst part was you couldn't hear their footsteps to track where they went, different story now lol

Frankly the chase music was too loud before. I actually wanted to turn it down or turn it off, but couldn't find the option for it.

Also I wanted to turn it down so that I could hear the heartbeat better. But apparently that's not how it works. So now I can't even hear that either.

In effect it's a huge survivor nerf and juking is now 500% harder than it used to be, and it's harder to figure out how close the killer is.

It was way too loud before, and with sounds being broken it made it even more obnoxious, it's maybe too quiet and having it amped up abit would be fine, but an actual revert is a no no.

I just want it to not cut out completely mid-chase or to keep going when someone else is in chase across the map.

Use your eyes bruh, you don't need to hear chase music to see where the killer is.

Guys the problem isn't the chase music. It's ALL the sounds. Every sound in the game is messed up now.

I'm all for turning down the chase music (maybe not as much as it was but I digress), but the rest of the sounds have been completely ######### up because of the change. They need to change ONLY the chase music, and fix the rest of the sounds in the game now. It's awful for both survivor and killers.

I played a game as Freddy yesterday and my footsteps were SOOOOOO loud in my own ears. He was stomping around it was so incredibly loud. That doesn't need to be a thing. Yes, chase music was very loud before, but all they needed to do was turn it down by like 50%. Now you can barely hear chainsaws, blinks, Wraith's bell, etc. It's bad.

People complained non stop about the music before. Though if you want it louder, a lot of people have been suggesting making music volume be a controllable variable for the longest time. That would be an awesome solution.

That's pretty much the exact opposite of the case for killers. They fixed a shitload of sound problems. You can actually hear footsteps and breathing for the first time in so freaking long.

They turned down chase music, not heartbeat, I have been able to hear Heartbeat over loud yelling over the party on Xbox

I wonder why they don't simply put a slider in the settings to select the volume we want like almost every other games...

Yep. The music was horribly loud before this patch.

No Mither was 130% trash because you couldn't hear anything the whole time.

It is perfectly fine no need to change anything.

I can hear the heartbeat completely fine, only the chase music is low (which I like btw) but in that case u already know the situation. I don't see why you complain. It's much better than previously.

Chase music must stay low and the ambience noises should be easy to detect

Not for some killers. Like I said, Freddy stomps around, his own footsteps are so loud it drowns out all other sounds.

On PS4 I can't hear anything that I actually need to. Had killers running around with distressing and I couldn't even tell that they had it. Basic terror radius feels like hag running M&A.

But don't worry fam! Kate now breathes louder than anything so it constantly feels like female myers is right next to me.

Pain grunts also completely drown out everything else. Being on a hook sounds like I'm in the sound booth next to the person voice acting it.

I literally have to run spine chill now and its because I can't ######### hear the non stealth killers coming.

We just need sliders like every other modern game instead of hard coding the audio mix at a code level on each individual map (forgive my ignorance if that's complete nonsense). The chase music is perfect to me now. I just need to know that I'm in a chase. That's it. It adds nothing else to the game for me.

What also sucks is that this is affecting all music in game and not just the chase music. I hope they revert it in the hotfix coming up.

They don't want you to be able to turn off the music completely; because that would it make it "too easy" to hear all the other things you currently have/had to strain to hear like survivor footsteps.

  • Dehitay
    Dehitay Member Posts: 1,726

It was actually never supposed to be so ridiculously hard to hear footsteps and repairing. It's just since that bug has been in the game for what seems like over a year, people started thinking it was the norm.

That's fair. I'd be ok with a minimum level, I just don't think a one-size-fits-all approach to audio can work when certain killers have different tracking needs i.e. Spirit, Nurse.

@Catbucket the chase music was deafening. I'm happy it's turned down!

This is so accurate to my experience playing yesterday. Add not hearing killer powers except ghostface and you're all good for a session of "what is actually going on?" (no freddy lullaby was the worst encountered but I have seen people had silent hillbilly, nurse and Myers so I'll consider that lucky in comparison)
