Revamping The Map (Huge Buffs)
Prologue:
The Map is really underwhelming as a survivor item since it doesn't contest well against a flashlight, toolbox, key, or med-kit. Therefore, why use an item when there's already a better alternative out there? Sure, the Map can find totems if you use Red Twine or if you're already using a Rainbow Map. This item does have its uses somewhere - it's not that useless. However, that's not really strong enough for it to be considered as a item choice. That's the problem.
Changes: The Map
An old piece of parchment made out of a skin-like material. Is rolled and sealed with an uncoloured leather string. Holding and channelling the Map unlocks a great potential in one's Aura-reading ability which slowly burns up the Map. Objects with Auras which you have already encountered are revealed to you for as long as the Map has charges left.
- Can track Hooks, Generators, Totems, Chests, Pallets, Exit Gates, Black Locks, and the killer's belongings when you're within a 8 meter range to them.
- Using the Map will reveal the auras of all things you had previously tracked.
- 15 Charges
Changes: Rainbow Map
A piece of parchment made out of oddly fresh skin. Blood on its edge has yet to dry. It is rolled and sealed with multiple coloured ropes and cords. Holding and channelling the Map unlocks a great potential in one's Aura-reading ability which slowly burns up the Map. Objects with Auras which you have already encountered are revealed to you for as long as the Map has charges left.
- Can track Hooks, Generators, Totems, Chests, Pallets, Exit Gates, Black Locks, and the killer's belongings when you're within a 12 meter range to them.
- Using the Map will reveal the auras of all things you had previously tracked.
- 30 Charges
Changes: Add-ons
Any add-ons that I do NOT mention will remain as they are.
Map Addendum:
A fragmented piece of a thick fibrous material. A partial and faded map is drawn on it which by itself is useless.
- Adds a 10 second charge to any Map.
Yellow Wire:
A small electrical wire. Both ends are heavily damaged like it has been forcefully torn out of its intended location. Can be tied around a map to enhance its Aura-reading ability.
- The Map starts with both Exit Gates already tracked.
Red Twine:
A bristly and rough piece of twine of a deep red colour. Can be tied around a map to enhance its Aura-reading ability.
- The Map starts with all dull totems already tracked.
Black Silk Cord:
A smooth black cord with a soft appearance. Can be tied around a map to enhance its Aura-reading ability.
- The Map starts with the Black Lock already tracked. Can only see the Black Lock with the Map when it has already spawned into the Trial.
Epilogue:
Overall, the Map is pretty underwhelming as a survivor item. It deserves this buff, but preferably after all killers are viable (High Mid-Tier).

Map Changes: They are quite reasonable. I wouldn't show pallets, vaults, lockers only for the reason that the screen shouldn't get "overloaded" with auras. Also I wouldn't give the green map the power to track the Black Lock. That should be left to the Black Silk Cord.
Rainbow Map Changes: no auras of pallets, vaults, lockers for a better overview
Changes to Map Addendum + Yellow Wire: yes
Changes to Red Twine: Too strong, would kill NOED and TOTH. Would also indirectly reveal at the start of the match how many hex totems are used (lessens the chances to surprise survivors with the existence of Devour Hope, for example).
Black Silk Cord: Too strong. There should be a range limitation.
I agree that maps could definitely get a bit buffed.

I agree with everything you said, but with the exception of the pallets. The reason why I want pallets to stay is because they're really important to the survivor. I'll update the OP to remove vaults and lockers from the map's tracking ability.
Also I wouldn't give the green map the power to track the Black Lock. That should be left to the Black Silk Cord.
Well, for a map to actually track a Black Lock:
- The Map holder have to be within a certain range to the Black Lock.
- The Black Lock has already spawned into the Trial.
That's 2 conditions to track the Black Lock, I think it's really fair to give both maps, especially the regular map, the ability to track the Black Lock if it has 2 conditions to get it tracked. The Silk Cord removes the first condition, which is useful for both maps. If Silk Cord gave the map the ability to track Black Locks, then it would be useless on the Rainbow Map (wasted add-on) because it already has that ability. See how lame that is?

Well, you're sacrificing an item and an add-on to see all dull totems. Even if you know there's 2 hex totems because you only see 3 dull totems with your map, you still have to find them and cleanse them. The same thing applies to dull totems, but without the finding part.
The Map is all about giving the player information, I think it's achieving its goal very well. We will need a PTB to see how everything plays out tbh.
Black Silk Cord: Too strong. There should be a range limitation.
A range limitation or a tracking limitation? Also, are you saying the add-on should have two purposes? Like it gives the regular map the ability to track Black Locks, and for the Rainbow Map it already tracks it but with a range limitation?

When it comes to the Black Lock, the green map and the rainbow map should stay the same as they currently are. (With the expection that the rainbow map has 12 meters of aura reading.)
The Black Silk Cord should not have the Black Lock already tracked. You might increase the tracking range slightly from 8 and 12 meters.
Considering the other points, I'm also still standing by what I wrote earlier. ^^
