Mettle of Man rework suggestion.

The previous version was definitely over powered. The current version is completely useless. The current design of the perk is hard to balance because the effect is so powerful and game changing.

I suggest Mettle of Man to be reworked like this.

"A protection scoring event from a basic attack increases the killer's recovery time by 1 second for that basic attack."

This would keep the same spirit of the perk and reward the survivor for confronting the killer and making a risky play. The 1 extra second can allow the survivor you protected to get away since they don't have the speed boost from getting hit. It can also be used to take a hit and perform an unhooking action under a face camping killer. The 1 extra second gives the survivors a chance to get away.

I feel like this change would make the perk impactful, and not too frustrating for killers to deal with.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Changed the recovery time from 2 seconds to 1 seconds. The logic behind it being 1/4th the power of mad grit which grants 4 seconds to wiggle time on hit when carrying a survivor. 4 survivors to 1 killer.

That's actually a cool perk idea, but I doubt they want to rework MoM into something entirely different like that. So imo this would work better as a standalone perk.

I think the only way current MoM should be changed is by making protection hits actually consistent, 'cause they're not at all. You can hit the exact requirements for them and they just won't trigger sometimes. I don't think it would be useless if they were made consistent; hard to earn yeah but that effect should be.

    No, that's definitely frustrating.

This would be a big buff for when survivors are blocking the hook when the killer is carrying a surv and the killer has no other option than hitting them.

Imagine 2 survivors tanking hits: That would mean 4 additional seconds. Basically no chance for the killer to hook the surv anymore, if the surv doesn't go down right in front of the hook.

It's a clear no from me.

Maybe 2 seconds might be too much. I didn't think about body blocking when carrying survivors to the hook. Especially since mad grit only grants 4 seconds. Maybe changing it down to 1 second might be better? Would be 1/4th the power of mad grit. I feel that's balanced since 4 survivors and 1 killer.

1 second is enough to take a hit and unhook from a face camping killer without him immediately downing you.

They just need to fix protection hits. Currently they don't work half the time so it's next to impossible to get the perk to trigger. I've been hit while the killer is carrying someone, while getting someone off the hook, jumping in front of the killer while someone is about to get hit, and none of them counted for MoM. I think every time the scoring event "protection" comes up you should get a token for MoM, plain and simple. And they need to fix it to where it always counts as protection when you protect someone. Then the perk would be alright.

Both MoM and WGLF already do work like this, but protection hits are just awfully inconsistent and don't pop up when they should like you said. Even the scoring event doesn't.

    But yeah I agree.

We don't need a perk to promote body blocking, sure if body blocking became super popular then Mad Grit would be popular as well but we still can't promote this to be the new meta lol

Fixing Protection Hits would fix the perk and Protection Hits makes sense with the name of the perk and Ash himself. Do you have any other ideas for rework for the perk? I once made a cool rework for D-Strike that everyone agreed on and it was out of the box like this is so if you keep trying I'm sure you'll find one.

Considering the current attack cooldown time is enough for survivors to nearly complete ANY objective in the game. That would actually be far more annoying of a perk at least to me. Especially the body blocking end game at the hooks type situations.

Also, the whole name of the perk needs to come into play for it to even make sense. Ash can take the extra hit. It wouldn't really make sense the attack speed is slowed?

an idea i had is instead of reworking mettle of man, they should nerf the endurance status effect, when you hit a survivor with endurance effect on it should not give a speed boost after the hit, however the killer still goes to cool down while you dont get a speed boost, it would even make sense cuz while loading as a killer in a match it says down in the tips that hitting a HEALTHY survivor grants them a short burst of speed, that wouldn't be the case cuz with endurance you're not healthy so you don't get a speed boost when hit

An effect that powerful should never be easy to gain.

And yes, fixing protection hits would absolutely do something.

Bad suggestion. The perk is actually really good and if you play killer you'll understand that its a pain. Either leave it or nerf it

Lol Survivor is already strong with all the perks and items they can use and people want to make MoM broken and give the killer more punishment for playing the game. I play both sides and its stressful to play killer already and playing survivor is so much easier. Potato survivors just need to get better instead of trying to make broken perks

No that would be so abused by SWF. Just fix current protection hits to be more consistent and leave MoM to be off meta perk for bodyblocking build.

This is the problem with handing that many free, effortless health states to survivors for so long.

Instaheal? Press a button and there you go. 1 or 2 states.

DS? Hit a "skill" check and you have it.

BT? Do nothing and just tank a hit. (I have ZERO problem with this perk though)

Adrenaline? Be alive at that moment and you'll get it. (Again, no prob and we're used to it by now)

MoM old version? Play a match for long enough and profit.

The only exposed status that doesn't requiere any work from the killer is NOED. And as such, it can be disabled before or during it's active state.

Now a survivor has to work for that extra health state, and so, will ask for it to be free, as before.

it would give nice counterplay too STBFL, but I don't know how effective it would actually be in game. Even with 2 second increase it would either be really bad since killers would still catch up and smack you, or it would be OP because in 2 seconds you could easily get away from the killer completely and with certain addons and perks, make it way too strong. I would make it give killers a 5% stack increase too their attack cooldown, up too 15% with a 80/70/60 second cooldown.
