Our Fun Isnt A Concern

Neither the devs, nor most survivors, understand that there is a living breathing human being playing killer that also wants to have a good game and have fun.

Survivors are the main focus of the game and we are simply there to facilitate their enjoyment; our enjoyment is secondary.

I rarely ever see people like that honestly even at red ranks. So I cant relate to that I'm afraid. Who do you play as? What's your build?

Well I personally dont believe I am that good. Yet I dont see that many type of people at red ranks as killer on PC or PS4. Maybe it's the time of day i get on.

@LCGaster I also rarely use OP add ons but camping and tunneling doesn’t bother me as survivor.

@Talmeer That is honestly spot on. I hate Legion so much that I almost never regard any of the fair ones I go against. I hate everything their look, their power, their stun noise, their cosmetics...I just hate Legion. They aren’t even that bad anymore but pre-patch Legion really just ingrained that Legion is awful in my brain.

Same with survivors. Not ALL survivors with colorful cosmetics are good at the game and will flicker flashlights at you. I’ve brought in OP add-ons and a mori for a SWF group that did nothing to me simply because the last SWF group were trying to make my game awful.

Nobody is entitled to make the game fun for you whether you are a killer or survivor. If you’re not having fun then simply don’t play, it’s that easy.

@TragicSolitude I have those type of games sometimes and it’s just time for me to take a break. It’s one thing to get bullied as Wraith on Haddonfield but if I can’t play my main killer (Spirit) and at least kill one survivor on a map like Shelter Woods then I know damn well I gotta take the night off.

Sometimes it’s not even a toxic or good team but the map might work against you or you just might be having an off night. If I have three rounds in a row that I play like hot garbage then most likely I get offline. Plus I play on console so it is a lot easier to bully a killer on console apposed to PC.

You won’t always win, but winning doesn’t matter if you’re having fun. It can be discouraging to have a four survivor escape with your main killer, but if you had fun that round it shouldn’t matter. Although we should take breaks from the game as well.

Heh I'm almost down 3 ranks as killer tonight but I'm gonna push it to the limit. I finally went to get some water and I'm hoping it helps because I'm blaming it on my brain being shriveled up from dehydration.

    @MegMain98 I'm on console, too!

Yeah, it's not necessarily about killing or escaping, it's about each side presenting an enjoyable challenge to the other. It's not fun to be steamrolled by survivors who are way out of my league, but It's not fun to completely massacre survivors, either. If I notice survivors are really struggling, I'll hold back or even start being silly to make the match more fun for everyone.

Maps have such a huge effect on a match. The other day I had The Pale Rose three times in a row. I pretty much afk'd the third match. A person can only take so much.

As plenty of people have said, your fun isn't someone else's responsibility. Being looped and gen rushed isn't fun at all. Neither is being camped and tunneled straight away. But people are going to do it regardless and tell you to git gud when you complain. It's the BS that comes with online games.

Behaviour doesnt give a damn about killers yeah when killers have a bunch of op addons and offerings. Cant have them consistently? Behaviour indtroduced you a nurse who can beat survivors that cheat

    @TragicSolitude

I can easily steamroll most survivors by putting on very rare add-ons but I choose not because they’ll just DC and killers wait so long to even start a lobby now.

I will usually always let a survivor go if they start memeing around or drop their item. It’s honestly amusing to me. I’ll give players the hatch if they don’t wiggle. I usually don’t play too seriously unless the survivors are gen rushing the hell out of me.

I won’t even lie, if I get a map I hate over and over again I’ll DC depending on the killer I play.

If I’m Spirit 99% of the time I won’t DC because she isn’t map dependent. However one person can only take so much of Coldwind maps before quitting for the night.

If I’m playing Plague or Huntress and I get Haddonfield or Lery’s it’s an EZ DC. Haddonfield I might stick around but I HATE Lery’s. It’s boring and confusing for both survivor and killer. I’ve had matches drag out for half an hour trying to find the last two immersed players.

I get The Game, Rotten Fields, and Springwood on repeat. I basically have the put on a MacMillan bone to ever get that map.

@Slayer If you consistently level up your main killer you’ll have MORE than enough add-ons and moris for games. I’ve got so many Sayas and Ebonys on my Spirit that I could use them for like 70 games straight.

You don’t need purple add-ons and moris every single game and if a player uses them every single game it could be argued that it is a crutch.

Survivor fun is more important than killer efficiency, that's a line I've been saying since a long time. That's just how it is. The fact that a lot of players don't even play killer outside dailys doesn't help it.

Lets be honest here, the only perks survivors have to gain a great advantage during the chase are the exhaustion perks, on the other hand killers have a lot of perks they can rely on for builds

I really doubt survivor perks outclass those of the killers, DS and MoM got reworked and the only perk you could consider to be actually broken is adrenaline

@MegMain98 I disconnect if a survivor disconnects, especially if it becomes a 3v1 with 5 gens left. Otherwise, I'll usually just go afk. If I don't bother the survivors, it only takes them a few minutes to complete the gens. Then I can open an exit gate and force them to leave. God, I love the EGC.

I enjoy memeing around with survivors. I feel like taking this game too seriously is a surefire way to not have fun, so I stay in the crappy ranks so I can have chill matches and play how I want. Getting bloodpoints and my BBQ 4 stack (even if I'm not running BBQ) are my main goals, as is 'spreading the love.' When I need to change it up, I'll create other goals like 'protect the basement chest' or 'prevent him from leaving with that flashlight' (hi, Franklin's!), but rarely is my goal to get a 4k. I'm more likely put on Ghost Face and have a butt-dance-off.

    It's not all about you

When I play I try to play fairly, I respect all Survivors and treat them as they treat me, if they do something stupid then I punish them, if they play smart I respect it. Their fun is just as important as my fun, I enjoy killing them and so I hope they enjoy the chase they get out of it.

When I see a confirmed SWF in the lobby I get nervous because I assume they're all ######### who don't give a ######### but I know deep down that it's not always the case. I know I need to play hard but I don't need to resort to dirty tactics until it's necessary, after all it's just a game.

As a side note I've made friends with players who treated me like crap when I've played Survivor. I've been killed by campers and tunnelers but I approached some of them afterwards because from their game play I could see that they were panicking and didn't know what else to do so I just messaged them and gave them tips and usually they're pretty thankful and nice.

If you feel that way why are you playing killer? I find both sides enjoyable so I play both killer needs some work but if you feel like you aren't having fun as killer sorry for the elitist advice ahead but go play something else maybe try survivor play some Civ. Seriously though it depends on what killer your playing if you are playing a high tier killer that is viable I don't know why you are complaining but if you are playing a low tier killer I understand your pain

  • GrootDude
    GrootDude Member Posts: 14,110

@LCGaster gen rush bothers a lot of killer players, I’m aware that camping and tunneling bothers people based on the death threats I get.

As survivor do you loop? Some people don’t find this fun, some people don’t find slugging fun, some people don’t find stealth fun and some people don’t find losing fun.

Making it fun for everyone is impossible.

  • CashelP14
    CashelP14 Member Posts: 5,564

Not exactly true. Should my fun be ruined just because a killer was either not good enough or are upset that they maybe failed to kill the survivor they were tunnelling or camping. Some killers will tunnel and camp you if you played well against them and will continue to do this in any other game you play against them.

I also don't find it fun when a killer spam moris me or forces me to bleed out on the ground just to be toxic. I don't find it fun if I'm trapped in a corner and forced to be killed by a RBT or die to EGC. I don't find it fun when a killer dc in a way that I lose all my points or lag switch to down me.

The point I'm making is don't just assume survivors are the only people who take the fun out of the game. It works both ways.

You can't have 6 survivors playing together, the max is 4 and i think you know that.

  • MystiKasT

Seal Team 6 was a description of the capability of the survive with friends group not the fact there were six survivors.

Are you trolling me or do you not know what Seal Team 6 is?

  • jeyers

    Had to look it up.

But you are comparing a special task force in the USA who undergo hard training to become the best solders and killers in the world. Survivors are not killers in this game.

And if u think using voice chat is comparable to the training those guys undergo then i dont know what to tell ya.

The issue is mainly the mentality of what the killer is. The game is suppose to be a a-symmetrical pvp game yet the killer is expected to be a Dungeon Master from a table top game. This is most reflected by a survivor driven "killer code of conduct" which tells them what play style is and not allowed and the salt induced if one fails to abide by that specific set of non-mechanical induced restrictions. Sadly their probably isn't a fix for this minus mechanically punishing killers for playing any thing but this code of conduct (which is no fun for the killer and not what was promised to them), remove the Win/Lose conditions for killers turning them into actual DM's hosting a game for other people, or changing the view of a good portion of the community to remind them.. hey... its a pvp game and some times they will deal with players who use strategies they don't like (such as campers in FPS).

Yes. Great reading comprehension. You are correct, it was indeed my intention to compare that SWF group to the exact skill level and competence reached by SEAL team 6. I was being literal; glad you picked up on that @jeyers.

I made sure to thank them for their military service before leaving lobby.

I am not required to be a chill killer/survivor BUT I don't want to be an Axx to people either.

I think it all starts with good examples.

I had 40 killer matches during the BH and only two teams of horrible survivors where I dced. This was mainly because most survivors realised I was trying to preserve people's fun as well.

That s probably half true though not sure but if you want you can keep them consistently just by playing nurse with bbq. I dont use bbq on other killers since dont want to waste a perk slot for such garbage perk.

  • Bithard
    Bithard Member Posts: 406

@DBDbuildsYT no one is required to be anything. This game just seems make people try hards for some reason.

  • DBDbuildsYT
    DBDbuildsYT Member Posts: 1,042

Agreed bit I don't want to play in that role, I'll try my best to be fun and fair unless I get toxic people

  • MegMain98
    MegMain98 Member Posts: 2,919

@Slayer I only use BBQ for the bloodpoints. If it weren’t for the bloodpoints you get I’d switch for Surveillance or Make Your Choice. It’s nice to see auras but half the time they’re either too close, in a locker, or their aura is blocked behind a generator.

I don’t believe it is a garbage perk but if it weren’t for the bloodpoints it gave then it wouldn’t be near as prevalent.

Someone put it best, most killers show clear signs of "kicked puppy" disease, but if killers are the ones doing and starting all this toxic behavior then why are they showing signs of a disorder only found in animals that have no control over their fate? But hey to each their own opinion

  • MystiKasT
    MystiKasT Member Posts: 289

Killers aren't the one starting all this toxic behavior; we all know it comes from survivors, mainly cocky SWFs.

  • Victory
    Victory Member Posts: 166

Stop trying to defend how toxic killers are, both sides are there is no "they're worse" arguement, thats so bad and unhealthy and that mentality is why there is racicsm still today and you're bringing that into dbd, both sides are very toxic stop trying to point fingers, survivors are human beings too, not just killers, quit dehumanizing people.
