Any plans for cross-play?

Going from one platform to another any losing everything is awful. This would be nice.

No thanks, as a console user and former PC user...I don’t want to be playing survivor on console vs. PC Nurse’s all day...hell no. Good nurses are very limited in my experience on console because she is much more difficult to use. Cross platform if this ONE SCENARIO alone is enough for me to say no way.

Smart guy u r lol. U are aware that you could switch it on or off right?

You can switch cross platform gameplay off and on if Behavior codes the game to throw together players from all platforms for matches? I didn't know that. I always assumed that the developer controlled how their servers worked with the clients. Didn't realize clients somehow had authority over the servers.

I think u misunderstood me, let me explain with the example fortnight:

If you use a controller, u can play with console players UNLESS you actively decide to be matched up with pc players aswell. But as soon as u use mouse and keyboard you will be matched up with pc players and can't be matched with consoles anymore. So YOU decide who you play with. Simple. And fair. Same concept could be used here.

Does Sony support cross platform yet?

Their last statement was they want to protect you from players cheating on another platform...

They should have cross play for KYF and not public games, in public games PC players may have an advantage over console.

There are plenty of PC users that prefer to use a controller. They have to play against Nurses using keyboard and mouse so I don't see a problem.

The biggest limitation of using a controller is that you probably will not be able to play AS the Nurse as effectively as those that use keyboard and mouse.

They do but only for a select few games. Dauntless being the most recent is crossed with PS4/XBOX/PC

The idea alot of ppl have is that console players will get bullied by their PC opponites, but... We DO still get ranked. You'd naturally get sorted into a rank with other players of your skill lvl, so really... The only difference you'll likely notice is the larger player base would result in (hopefully) shorter queue times.

PC - Console will never happen but Xbox - PS4 might.

I'd prefer it if all platforms could play together as it'd help a lot with matchmaking issues on the console end of the game.

@se05239 any particular reason why pc- console can't happen?

  • se05239

    @LordGlint Mouse + Keyboard > Controller

And also PC exclusives, like Bill.

  • LordGlint
    LordGlint Member Posts: 8,682

@se05239 as far as exclusives, they can simply do what other games have and make him look like a default other character, like dwight, to console players. As far as the keyboard and mouse thing... Ppl are playing with controllers against keyboard and mouse users on PC right now. What's the difference between THOSE ppl and console players?

@LordGlint What you suggest have been suggested before. And yeah, I think some are using controllers on PC already, why I wouldn't know.

I guess its also the matter of FPS and how easy it is to keep all platforms on the same version? PC can be updated whenever but both console versions can take weeks before an update goes through.

Seriously though. I only know so much, you're probably better off trying to get a proper answer out of Peanits or Not_Queen. Just @ them in case you want to ping anyone of the two.

@se05239 some games like Warframe often times updates their versions on different dates, so they keep their versions separate. DBD though releases content ot the same time across the board though. I don't see how cross platform play HERE would be different than let's say, fortnight, where ppl on their phones play against ppl on PC.

@LordGlint Like I said. This is a question better answered by Peanits or someone else Community Manager-y. Dead by Daylight has a history of weird design decisions, I cannot understand or answer them all. Things that makes sense in a lot of games all over the world are foreign concepts to Dead by Daylight.

@se05239 I gotcha. I'm not trying to hound you for management decisions, just rather sort of discussing why there's no real reason why it can't happen, since you're initial post was claiming PC - Console can't work while console - console CAN. Even the FPS difference with consoles having lower FPS than dedicated PCs can be tossed aside when you realize ppl are currently using budget PCs (low FPS) to play with ppl using high end PCs (high FPS). The only reasoning I currently see to hold off on cross platform play is only because the devs already have a hard time with optimizing. Maybe once they can get one problem fixed, they can tackle this? I'll go ahead tag @not_Queen and @Peanits though, maybe they can give some insight.

Figured it might even make sales boom. If SWF is keeping the sales up like so many ppl claim, wouldn't it be better if you could play with your friends, even if you don't have the same console? I've been telling my PS4 owning co-worker all about DBD, meanwhile I play on PC.

@Supernaut That was my exact thoughts when I got a gaming PC for Warframe. Over 3k hours and tons of gear on an Xbox account but... A pretty PC that won't let me use that stuff, QQ

Exactly. I don't mind not facing people from other platforms, but it would be nice for my progress to carry over.

I'd rather just have cross play game stats so you dont have to grind or rebuy killers u own

Considering the Switch population is not that big, they would need Crossplay among consoles at least.

As many people have said here, I just want a global account that lets me keep my stuff if I purchase the game for another platform. I'd spend more money on the game if I knew it would carry over from PS4 to PC and vice versa.
