Salt master Doctor?

I wish I'd saved a screenshot of the post-match chat, but it entailed a certain group of R2 SWF Survivors calling me every name under the Sun just because I played Doc as efficiently as I felt possible.

I was getting Gen Rushed pretty hard at the start, and Ruin fell almost instantly. However, I managed to find a Surv pretty early on and got him on the hook, fortunately I was running BBQ so I knew that when there were no auras popping up that the other Survivors were all around me. A few Shock Therapy sessions later, and I'd found them all. Long story short, I wiped out the unhooked survivor who had BT, but still the SWF group lingered by for some reason (on death hook).

Following the first sacrifice of the game, they then proceeded to try and bait me into picking up another Surv I had downed shortly after (they tried to flashlight me), however I looked at the wall to dodge it. I was down to two Gens left with only one sacrifice clocked, but nobody had popped a Gen for at least a solid 5 mins. I had hooked the other downed guy in the basement, and proceeded to leave to stop nearby Gen progress.

When I came back I found the other two unhooked Survivors in the basement - downed and hooked one of them, but both of the basement hooked Survivors insta-killed themselves to try and give the last SWF member the Hatch. After walking about 20 yards from the basement, I found and closed the Hatch. I then killed the last Survivor who was trying to open an Exit Gate. Upon reaching the post-game chat I was bombarded with the usual 'you play like a Rank 20 killer' insults, followed by the other usual jabs.

Did I do anything wrong though? Surely I wouldn't haven't gotten Merciless Killer if I'd just camped, tunneled, etc right? Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my marbles lol.

tl;dr - Some SWF groups get really salty when they lose to a Killer considered less viable than the usual top tier, but I'm sure if I'm actually bad at playing the lesser viable Killer or not by employing an efficient strategy.
