Black Chest/Alter/Shrine - Killer Addons

Hey, I wanted to suggest something that allows killers to not really keep their addons but earn more while in the game. Similar to searching a chest and leaving with the item. The black chest or alter... This chest or alter would work similar to a survivor chest, however, slightly different.

  • Each basement HOOK not Hook State earns the killer 1 token.
  • Every two/three/four tokens the killer can open the chest or interact with the alter to obtain an addon.
    • Method 1: These addons are generated then randomly up to a specific rarity. (During Game)
    • Method 2: Based on the killer's performance it can range in rarity. (After Game)
      • 0 Kills - Up to Brown Addons
      • 1 Kill - Up to Yellow Addons
      • 2 Kills - Up to Green Addons
      • 3 Kills - Up to Purple Addons
      • 4 Kills - Up to Pink Addons
    • Method 3: Based on the killer's emblems it can range in rarity. (After Game)
      • 0 Iridescent - Up to Brown Addons
      • 1 Iridescent - Up to Yellow Addons
      • 2 Iridescent - Up to Green Addons
      • 3 Iridescent - Up to Purple Addons
      • 4 Iridescent - Up to Pink Addons
    • Method 4: Suggested by: @fluffymareep Based on number of hooks.
      • 3 Hooks - Up to Brown Addons
      • 6 Hooks - Up to Yellow Addons
      • 9 Hooks - Up to Green Addons
      • 12 Hooks - Up to Purple and Pink Addons

This encourages different play-styles and anti-tunneling as they are rewarded per specific hook. Which would be anti camping. As @Tsulan also stated this could work for Monstrous Shrine Rework.

    @Gcarrara I think you moved this incorrectly. It follows directly under what the guidelines for wishlist is for. I didn't make anything this isn't a fan 'creation' it is simply a possible working mechanic. That I would wish to see as my huntress has 0 addons currently. (Feel free to delete this comment if I am wrong.)

    Instead, we could make it off of hooks instead of kills. So brown: 3, yellow: 6, green: 9, purple: 12. I'm guessing alters/black chests will be in the base game, so we could have a perk like Ace in the Hole to give another add-on and up the rates for during game. I really like this idea~

    The person who moved it may have been thinking you were making add-ons? Something like this should have been fine in wishlist or even balance, I think.

    I don't particularly like this idea myself. @fluffymareep as many survivors dc or suicide which prevents hook states. At least with kills your effort will be worth something. Although, since the tokens are already based on hooks. The kill equivalent would be alright.

    Well, a DC doesn't count for a death, anyway. What they need to do is have harsher penalties towards DCing to help that a bit. What I worry with kills is that it wouldn't count if you happened to kill no one, but two hooked everyone. You should be rewarded for that all the same.

    See I want to reward the actual killers. Not the farm everyone twice essentially. Like if you don't kill or have disconnects (because that is super uncommon ya know) I don't think you really deserve higher tier addons. I am just looking to make a balanced mechanic since it is a bloodcow to get addons for a killer. While survivors have the ability to keep theirs and gain new ones every trial.

    I wasn't talking about farming. Sometimes you'll do decently well during a match, but you fail to kill everyone. I think you should be rewarded for putting up a good show for the entity or whatever. Values can be adjusted so that you only need to get 3 kills worth of hooks to get the full amount. Just thinking it rewards a more natural sort of play style where you don't have to go out of your way to make sure you kill everyone.

    If we compare it to survivors, theirs is based off of luck. We could have luck influence what killers are able to get, even.

    I see what you are saying. I am just unsure if it would be almost easy op addon flooding. If the killer didn't have to kill to get higher rarity ones. @fluffymareep

    But survivors can get OP stuff with just a perk, right? If I'm correct, their normal draw is from luck, too. You're still doing an awful lot to get all those hooks, I think. So, I think it should still count.

    I would be alright with it by any means. @fluffymareep , however, I wouldn't want it to be a perk. I prefer things to function as mechanics rather than playing with perks to accomplish things.

    I'd love for black chests to b e there for killers, 1 per game, though this would just slow the killer down

    This is kinda where the whole basement hooks part takes place. If it is in the basement it is only gonna slow you down for a few seconds. Then you get something out of the match. It NEEDS multiple hooks which doesn't reward camping. It is a mechanic not a perk so this can be used as base for any killers to get addons. You are not guaranteed the addons you have to remember to interact with the chest. I find it a very balanced way to improve the game. The addons you get are essentially RNG on a drop. Their max tier is based on your performance. Camp all game you might get an addon that is brown. Slaughter 12 hook basements you can get a variety of rewards. Some maps the basement spawn is bad so the play won't be done every game. @AetherBytes

    I've had the passing thought, that there should be an offering, that let killers get more items from the next blood web depending on how they do in the game.

    each sacrifice giving an additional item .

    so say you get a 3k, you spawn a new web, then you grab one thing from the web, instead of getting one of that item you get 4, 1 item at base then the bonus 3 , this goes for every item on that one web.

    the offering could probably be only spawnable once every 5-10 webs, to make it less abuseable , but for gathering items for killers it could help a lot.

    I don't think offerings are able to persist after the game. Like what if I don't do a bloodweb as huntress for a week. @razaluna making it a mechanic or a boost to Monstrous shrine like @Tsulan suggested would be beneficial all the way around.

  • As a Camper and Tunneler, these ideas would not be anti-tunnel or Camping.

    But they are good nonetheless, you get Camper Thumbs up!

    @Emeal please explain to me how you are going to get multiple hooks in the basement camping? Because you would be hitting brown addon rewards quite frankly at most. Tunneling if you got BT you will most likely get out and away from basement. So this will require strategic plays by the killer. The mechanic promotes multiple hooks for the most part.
