Remember When. . .
Remember when killers couldn't kick gens, or 30 second sprint burst, or NOED was just a perk, or STBL + Unrelenting was super powerful? Just a thread to see how many of us remember when things were different!

Remember when You got the sabo squad and no hooks on the map , just basement?
And Wraith could Ding Dong in front of the hook to farm points4 -
Traps under hooks...
2 -
On release hag shrugging off DS
3 -
I remember when you could get flashlighted out of the hook animation. Therefore hooking someone was impossible.

i'm old.... i remember when - if you wanted to play a video game, you absolutely had to have a quarter....
12 -
-The Magic Juke bus (the reason I switched from Bing Bong to Billy).
-We'll make it working on self care.
-The horrible grind with the original blood web. Dear lord anyone with multiple legacy characters will always have my respect (providing they're legit)
-Infinite lobby dodges by survivors looking to get in games with friends before SWF was released.2 -
Also Daily for 15 chainsaws , to get 17 k bloodpoints
2 -
I know it was just for a short while but when the nurse could blink and hit a hooked survivor to farm points lol

Old Wraith run animation.17

Lol this game sounded horrible when it released. It looks like it came a long way4

Lol this game sounded horrible when it released. It looks like it came a long wayHonestly, those were the golden days. The game was all over the place, full of problems, but a lot of fun too. Sure, the giant bloodwebs, OP perks and fewer options could be frustrating, but they were all we knew. It helps that there was also fresh content every two months.
All the problems did eventually catch up with it though, around December of the release year, and imo the game didn't really get back on its feet until the David/Huntress chapter. Yeah, we have definitely come a long way since then.5 -
Back when they added infinite stage 1 hooks to the PTB, and people calling it "a brand new game!".2

When facecamping was a major problem?! I love the spinning hooks

Back when people thought Myers was OP
When Iron Grasp, Calm Spirit and other now useless/unnecessary perks were meta
When a The Wraith was something to fear2 -
I remember waiting 30mins in queue with friends looking at the camp fire...
Oh and when sabotaging hooks was a valid strategy!1 -
You could hear the Wraith clocking from the start, and even after that you could hear the unclocking across the map, as well as the chainsaw revving.
You could tell who the killer was by the hooks
3 -
I started the game very, very late. I remember this event where if i hooked surrivors, if counted toward something. The only thing I can remember now is the recent horror of the blind at anytime animation and drop the surrivor.... did not like it.

I've been playing since Dec 2016, back in patch 1.3.1c.
I remember Sabo Jakes.
I remember this fresh new Killer called the Hag.
I remember the words "Machine Gun".
I remember when you could almost never pick Survivors out of traps with the Trapper, and had to hit them.
I remember traps under hooked Survivors.2 -
i miss billy flick
1 -
Nurse with 3 blinks, and friendly Wraith (<3)
Have been playing since beta

Remember the infinite tractor and how often it got changed to make it safe? And all the various tricks to still get survivors by swinging around the hay and lunge yourself in the air. When billy still had his space program and could dunk the survivor with a backrev. That tractor caused a lot of headaches lol

Remember when Adrenaline and Sprint Burst used to stack? And that you could use your Sprint Burst whilst downed? It was a very different game back then!
4 -
I remember when Doc was introduced and didn't have a slowdown when attacking while carrying a survivor.
Further back, when the game was full of bots (killers that stood still with an auto attack macro, just for farming points and ranks). And when you could repair gens even after the gates were open.0 -

Then Gauntlet came along and you needed a roll to play haha.

Remember back when you ranked up by getting Bloodpoints?
Or there were only 4 Survivors and 3 Killers?
Or when people hadn’t played the game enough to know Self Care was a thing?
Or when the hooks told you which Killer you were facing?
Or when Small Game was meta?
Or when Perks could be Ultra Rare?
Or when the progress bar looked like this?

Remember when Trapper and Wraith had the same weapon clean animation?1

When you could run pallet to pallet and heal yourself at 80% of the normal healing speed. Paired with botany knowledge, it was impossible for a killer get you.
When Sprint Burst cooldown was only 20 seconds. No exhaustion. No running penalty.
When DS wasn't an obsession perk, and everyone could use it instantly.
When Object of Obsession and Sole Survivor stacked to reveal you the killer's aura, while the killer couldn't see yours if 3 survivors were dead.
Claudette's L4D shirt was too black and she'd become completely invisible.
Chainsaw Myers and Chainsaw Nurse during the first Christmas was a fun surprise.
https://youtu.be/e7BAG-fMfFc
There was also a bug that let you use toolbox addons on a flashlight or a medkit. A wire spool giving you 30 charges. Lol.
When Borrowed Time gave immunity to the unhooker as well, resulting in some crazy saves, especially during the end game.

Back when they added infinite stage 1 hooks to the PTB, and people calling it "a brand new game!".So it was like killer basketball? Just dunking people as much as you could like one of those free throw games at a carnival?
Edit: Trying to get some sleep and all I can think about is a mix of Dead By Daylight and NBA jam.
"Pig is dribbling obsession Dwight! Pigs on fire!" Pig leaps at a hook clearing 10 ft, Dwight over held over her head, then she dunks him on a hook "BOOM SHAKKA LAKKA!"

When you could pick a offering on your killer and quickly switch to get it on your survivor without it depleting the one on the killer. Probs did 100 Thickest Mist and Darkest Moonlight combos with my buddy.
Leaving the lobby enough as killer would give you rank 19/20's in the lobby for easy matches.
Crotus Penn had a spot for survivors to stand without the killer beeing able to reach you.
Having to keep queueing to hope to end up in the same lobby as your friend since there was no SWF.

I remember when I played this game in beta....and hated it.
One of the worst gaming disappointments ever....I was SO looking forward to this game....
Few years later...I love it. Top 5 favorite games I think.0 -

Reading about the early days I don't think I would have stuck with the game.1 -
When Brand New Parts were instant repair 100% of the gen. Going in as a 4 man swf and finishing 4 gens in first 10 seconds.

ah yes... the old times...
when sabo jakes were completely OP and you had no hooks left within 5 minutes, forcing you to slug the survivors to death...
when iron grasp increased the wiggle time by 60%...
when everyone had DS, no matter if they were the obsession or not and DS stunned the killer for 7 seconds...
when there was no way for the killer to catch anyone using an infinite...
when trapper was the best killer, depending on the devs stats...
when nurse had 115% movement speed +3 blinks...and much more... xD
the memories are back, friends!0 -
When no killer was really considered the worst
Also SO MANY PALLETS0 -
Remember this guy from the dev stream?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSckKVzZ3NQAnd their second video which did NOT make it xD

been here since release and I had tons of fun with STBFL + unrelenting, brutal strength was also way more powerful than today.
remember when Michael Myers could stack evil within gain rate when stalking multiple survivors at the same time?
0 -
Remember when Insidious used to make you completely invisible and not just reduce your terror radius to zero? Or is that just what I thought happened when I first started playing?
0 -
Remember when flashlights could blind you in 3 nanosecods and survivors could just turn around during a chase to blind you? Aaaah those were times.

Remember [...] when Perks could be Ultra Rare? This system of rarity has been removed for the wrong reasons and should be restored for balancing needs and reasonable differentiation, in costs and rarity, among perks of different impact on the game (three tiers and three levels of rarity simply do not work, involve distortions and flattening in the classification): https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/28110/about-restoring-the-5-level-rarity-system-for-perks
I really like to rediscover the origins of this game, its slow evolution towards the current mechanics, the progressive enrichment of new characters, maps and perks.
