Can other killers become as viable as Nurse, Spirit, or Hillbilly?
I've been seeing a lot of discussions about how the Nurse/Hillbilly/Spirit is OP and most of the feeback on those discussions comes down to: "No, every other Killer just isn't as good as them."
Now, I'm not interested in continuing the argument about who is or isn't OP, but what I AM interested in is whether or not it would be feasible to make every other Killer to be as good as them without reworking the game. I mean, they're all as good as they are because of the function of their powers, which let them cross large amounts of space uncontested and end chases quickly. So wouldn't the solution to making other Killers more viable just end up being to give them those same abilities? How would you even do that for someone like say, the Trapper, who's power has no momentum in its application?

DBD will never be completely balanced. It is simply not possible, because you have:
RNG in Maps (and tbh, RNG is needed, otherwise it would become even more boring sometimes)
Good Killers (Nurse, Spirit, Billy) vs Bad Killers (Trapper, Doc, Leatherface)
SWF vs Solos
I mean, what are topics for Trapper Buffs?
- starts with all of his traps (Bags increase total number of Traps)
- Can replace traps without picking them up
- Traps cannot be sabotaged
- maybe that he cannot step in his own Traps (or at least give an Add-On for that)
Even with all of this, he would not be close to Nurse or Spirit. Probably not even close to Billy, because he will be missing the insane mobility. Even when Iridescent Stone would be Basekit, he would not be close to Nurse or Spirit.
If you want to keep the Core Mechanics of every Killer, you can make them more viable, but they will not be able to compete with Nurse or Spirit. Except when you nerf those, but I know that Killers will not really like that idea.
Personally, I think, a lot of weak Killers can get some Buffs. But overall, people also need to accept that they will not win every game with Trapper, even when he gets buffed. You can have your 4Ks, but they will not be happening every game. If you want to have consistent 4Ks, you need to run Nurse (and maybe Spirit). For every other Killer, people need to accept that they cannot win them all. And then it is way more relaxing to play.
Like, I enjoy playing Leatherface. I am some kind of a Masochist I guess, but I think I am doing quite well with him. But of course I dont win the majority of my games, but in the end, I am playing Leatherface, so what should I expect?
So yeah, I dont think that it is possible to make Killers as viable as Nurse or Spirit. Maybe if they would get a Teleport (like Jason in Friday the 13th), but this would make someone like Hag or Freddy pointless.

The game should be balanced around trapper wraith etc. Billy nurse and spirit are op and they should be nerfed

Addonless Hillbilly and Spirit (even though she has no reliable counterplay) are not OP, but the nurse is a completely different story.
The thing with hillbilly and spirit is that they are only strong in the good hands. Which means these two killers become viable only when a certain skill ceiling is crossed.
To answer your question, I think MOST killers can be buffed to hillbilly/spirit level but I am not so sure if the "skill ceiling" can be added to them. Therefore, I don't think it is a good idea to do so. ScottJund have suggested very interesting ideas about buffing/tweaking killers in his recent video and I agree with most of them.

no, devs have stated that they only intend on making "fun killers" from here on out, they have no plans to ever make another nurse-tier killer

I think there are many ways to buff weak killer. All depends on how powerfull you want them to be. For example if you give trapper 3 of his best addons as baseline he'll become force to be reckoned with like spirit and maybe even more powerfull.
But that is just wishful dreaming that devs will ever care and make non-viable killers viable.

You clearly havent played Trapper Wraith etc. on rank 1 than. There are situations where low tier killers cant do anything to win the game. It just depends on the survivors. High tier killers on the other hand depend on how good you can play them. Therefore give a plain playing field where skill of survivors and killer decide the outcome.

I think you forgot Clown and Hag ,Plague they all are viable , Myers , Wraith, Doc, Huntress. We have only pig and leatherface that needs buffs.

Play default nurse(everyone says she s easy ) get some bp and you can say with 100% confidence that all addons are free.

They havent stated that.
They said that they want killers to be fun to play as and against and also that not every killer will be the same power level or as strong as top tier. But the power level of every killer is different.

The top killers all have one thing in common. Good map pressure.
Nurse, Spirit, Billy and Hag all can traverse the map fast using there power and they and really useful in a chase then there is the Huntress who can hit you from a distance.
The new Freddy will also be quite good but his power isn't like the others and gives more chance for survivors to leave the area before he gets there.
The others can still do well at high ranks but versing good players shows the flaws they have more.
I don't know how comparable you can really make a standard 115% killer to the best ones as they will always take longer to traverse the map.

We don't need another nurse level killer. She's stupid and only in the game because the DEV's didn't think enough about her power back then. When I started this game I really wanted to master her and smash everything with her into the ground. Then I realized (probably after 50-100 hours) that you don't have to be a god nurse to beat your opponents. She doesn't give a ######### about pallets and windows. I met very good survivors with my nurse and they did a good job. But how often do you face a perfectly organized team? I would say 19 of 20 games ez 4k (3k cuz hatch but you know what I mean). I even stopped playing with addons after a while and still it wasn't a real challenge so I stopped playing her once and for all.
The spirit is strong in good hands. But she has a weakness: Iron will. But should survivors really have to take a perk, because otherwise the spirit would probably beat them? I don't think so. (We don't even need to talk about prayer beads here.) Spirit is the "power role" this game maybe needs. Depends on what u r looking for at killer main.
I've always said that Billy is probably the best killer in the game. Not the strongest, but if you want a perfectly balanced killer: Billy is the closest Imo. He's got some bad maps tho. That sucks, but in most cases even a god billy can't completely destroy survivors if they're very good. I faced many swf until this date and never got less than 2 kills with Billy (except I wanted less kills for some reason).
Who the hell is gonna read this stuff? This is the first time I feel like a survivor main tbh. Even though I've been playing more and more killer lately. I called myself a 50/50 gamer, but I'm slowly getting a killer main.

Making all the other killers as powerful as Nurse, Billy or Spirit is going to be impossible
Some killers have potential to be of course
Doctor for example, all he needs is a slightly longer range for his shock to be strong as a base
Other killers that have potential if correctly buffed could be Clown and maybe Wraith

The maps, or more specifically, the insane amount of safe pallets are the reason for the gap between Nurse/Billy/Spirit and everyone else. I don't think the other killers are necessarily weak because of their power. All of those killers would be indirectly buffed if 90% of pallets weren't safe without bloodlust and there wasn't another ridiculously safe pallet or jungle gym 10 meters away to repeat the process.

While other killers will never habe the mobility of nurse, theres other ways to make them strong in a different aspect.
Arguably we could take notes from overwatch etc and give killers multiple abilities.
Or "secondary subskills" like sentry wards or "teleport to a generator every 120 seconds (identity v has those)
Trapper for example could place barricades to block a location/window/doorframe (obviously destroyable) but also traps those to damage would-be destroyers, tripwires would work too, maybe shared ammo with a bola shot to trip survivors from a distance. And those ideas were only thoight up in öike 10 seconds.
If the devs really wanted to, the killers could be much more versatile.
