Gen tapping - technique or exploit?
Just wondering what the general consensus is about gen tapping. Is it a valid counter to ruin or just an exploit and if its an exploit, why is it still in the game?

It's technically an exploit, but I think the devs figure that the benefits and drawbacks (avoiding skill checks by severely delaying generator progression) make it pointless to patch.

Yes it doesn't worth it, gen tapping takes too long. And for some unknow reason getting great hex skillchecks is easier than normal great skillchecks. I would like to know why this happen someday.
it's the red color that makes it easier? Or a game fault that gives you for Great Hex skill checks hits that shouldn't be great? Because i got the feeling that the second thing i say is happening.

Gen tapping is absolutely useless, unless you've repaired ~90% and want to finish it without risking to break it instead of repairing. But generally, repairing though Ruing is faster - you can always hit Great skillchecks it's not hard even with low FPS.

It's an exploit that the devs turned into a technique because of whiny survivors. There was a time it was the same as dribbling an obsession but they nerfed dribbling hard and left gen tapping as it is so the two are not comparable anymore.Dribbling is still a thing.
It's as much of an exploit as tapping.
Not comparable....right.
No point talking to you , you're biased.1 -
Gen tappers are annoying, just plow through the gen, it's not rocket science.

Used to hate gentapping, now I don't care.
If you want to work on a generator slower by all means do so.

It's faster if you just power through the ruin so gen tappers are screwing themselves over as far as I can see.

It's a strategy for people who suck with skill checks, but it's not really a good one. I find it to be a huge waste of time personally.0
