How to play: Legion! From a Legion main!

Hello! For anyone who has been curious/interested in playing Legion after their...Very big nerf, a lot of players have been confused as to ‘how do I play them?!’ and ‘why am I doing this?’ Well, I can’t answer that second one for you, but I sure as hell can tell you the first part!

For starters: Legion isn’t exactly what they used to be. They’re in a bad place right now and they’re, arguably, one of the worst Killers currently. It hurts to say it, but they’re in a bad spot. But that doesn’t mean they have to outright die, no sir! If you find them appealing mechanic-wise or visual-wise, then go for it! But I’d like to help YOU, person who is curious as to how to play them effectively, on trying to make Legion somewhat viable. (NOTE: don’t do this at red ranks. Seriously, it was a miracle I managed to get to rank one as only playing Legion for a month, I highly suggest NOT doing it if you value your sanity.)

Legion’s power is...Meh? It used to be amazing (for the Killers) but now it’s amazing (for the Survivors) in all the wrong ways. Getting the Deep Wound is more or less a crude joke you’ll hear at a bad party and just see it as more of a ‘oh wow, Legion actually used their ability on me, lucky me.’ But with this play style that I have constructed, I’ve managed to make Legion actually playable!

We’ll start with perks: Thanatophobia, Sloppy, Ruin/PGTW (Pop Goes), and Bamboozle. Essentially, with the add-ons that I will state here in a bit, this build helps with keeping Legion’s power under lock and key to the Survivors, but making it manageable to the Killer to have that be an upside. Unlike the Plague, who, having her major power be locked away from her and only affected by the Survivors into getting, this is something beneficial to Legion. I don’t like saying Legion’s power is ultimately useless overall without this build, but it really is. It’s like a DS you give yourself, pretty much. For add-ons, however, this is when the fun starts...Bring a cooldown add-on (because that’s a given) AND one of the blades.

The entire reason behind all of this is to essentially slow the game down entirely as Legion by having Survivors waste their time with mending, healing, and dealing with slower gen progress. Go to feral when given the chance (AGAINST UNINJURED SURVIVORS), try to hit as many as you can, and let them do the work. If they want to deal with wasting essentially an entire minute and a half just healing and mending, then let them, but if they want to stay injured for the rest of the match and make gen progress just a TINYYYYYY bit slower, but makes dealing with them a lot more easier on you!

(Also, as a side note, to those who are curious as to why I said bring Bamboozle, it’s not outright stated, but Bamboozle DOES affect the pallet vault speed. It doesn’t block the pallet, but you are vaulting slightly faster, as far as most Legion players can tell, so go wild with that information.)

TL;DR

Bring Sloppy, Thanatophobia, Ruin/PGTW, and Bamboozle with any of the blade and cooldown add-ons to make the game essentially slower for the Survivors and quicker for you on how they handle it.

Nice gide. Thank you. I used to play Legion a lot more (when you could moonwalk) but I have fun playing as them once in a while.

I like to use Feral Frenzy to ignore that pesky Borrowed Time and those body blocks.

I have a build more or less like that but I use NOED instead of Bamboozle. Noone ever expects NOED with Legion. I have turn 1k into a 3k or 4k many times. Silly survivors.

As a legion main as well I can agree this works but it Aires on the boring side of gameplay, you're kinda forced to run an even more limited pool of perks to be remotely viable and even then it's sad:/ but this should help new players to legion :D

@undeadmauler Yeah, I just want to make sure Legion isn’t seen as ‘dead’ by newer players. They can still be usable, but they’re VERY underwhelming. If people, like me, love them for their design though, it’s nice to try and get some usage out of them. ;D

I'm always gonna miss old legion with their noticable speed and great cd addons. I wish the devs just fixed the exploit on them but oh well, I've made it back to r1 as legion and will continue to do so till they're in a better spot haha

Wait, I'm confused. How does Legion possibly negate BT?

Used to decrease mend bar on power hit. It ate through BT mend bar as well.

Still confused. I'm assuming that would only even work with that addon that even lets you decrease the bar through hits?

Ohhhhhhh. Then yeah, I can see that.

Current Legion doesn't counter pretty much anything, lol.

He's on the level of Wraith/Trapper sweatiness involved to do well.

Unfortunately, yeah. I just play them due to my obsession with their appearance and lore, but I figured I might as well post my somewhat viable build to newer players who felt the same way as me towards them.

I came here looking for a new strategy, but I found you recommend pretty much the same setup that I use haha. This is definitely the standard build right now.

I like to use Stolen Sketch Book sometimes for maximum Frenzy distance. Also, Enduring + Spirit Fury can be fun because getting pallet stunned skips the Frenzy cooldown, so you can get some quick downs if they're dumb enough to pallet stun you.

Here's hoping The Legion gets some love in the future. Their power is a shell of its former self, and it was absolutely not worth the 5% move-speed in compensation. And aside from the ones mentioned, their add-ons have to be some of the worst in the game now (R.I.P. speed add-ons!).

@Ghoste We can only hope, but I’m glad to see that this build is actually reliable!

Any tips on preventing gen rushing when I have no perks but Legion's and Wraith's?

Also, what do you all think about this?:

    (Suggested changes)

-revert his feral frenzy speed and vault speed

    -keep the 115 movement speed

-his power gauge is filled faster and no longer decreased by normal attacks

-his power should last long enough to be able to run most of the map distance.

    -stun is 3 seconds again

-can see blood again in feral frenzy

-break action and locker check is faster in feral frenzy

-hitting all remaining survivors with power awards ability to down the mend time like before (still suffer misses attack consequences, so this is a skill based effort, gives pressure and multi stabbing I want)

    -mending has skill checks

@Ember_Hunter It sounds great on paper, for Killers, but Survivors will just complain again about Legion being broken or unfun, honestly. It’s a situation we currently can’t win if we try to do anything that might make Legion what they used to be, but I love you idea!! 💜

@tehshadowman33 Well, it does not negate BT, it's more like a Feral Frenzied hit helps you get it quickly out of the way and keep on with the chase.

Edit: I don't want this message to look like an accuse at your expirience or skills or something, im just letting you know what i think about him.

I play a lot of Legion, and i can say that you aren't right, not about everything at least.

Legion isn't by any mean one of the worst killers. Their ability to slow down the game is amazing and the pressure they can put on survivors is incredible.

You said that Legion power is bad for chases, and this is true. Feral Frenzy is useless in chase. This is way you don't use it in a chase.

The Legion is a defensive killer, kinda like the Hag, and as a defensive killer you don't stay on a chase all match. You run and defend generators. Im actually working on a legion guide so im not gonna write it all here, but please, try it and you will understand how much Legion can do.

You also said that they are really bad to get to rank 1, but this is completly false. In fact they are probably the best killer to farm bp and pips. Just by messing around you have 2 guaranteed iridescent emblems, malicious and chaser.

About the perks, you are right, in fact gameslowing perks are great on him, but chase perks aren't, since you shouldn't even take a chase.

Oh and just a little thing about mending, it take 10 second by default, so you can literally give them 1 more generator to do each 8 frenzy hits.
