Dear Survivor Mains
I have a question for you guys, a non-cheeky question. Some opinions on this matter would be appreciated!
Is it the killer's job to babysit your fun? If yes, then is it your job to babysit theirs? Been running into a lot of survivors lately who seem to be obsessed with 'their fun' when they're running some.. questionable perks/items/add-ons. Give me a new perspective on this, if you'd be so kind.
Thanks for taking the time to read my query

I play for my own enjoyment.
It's delusional to expect anything else from a game.

Everyone plays for their own enjoyment. The only time I question killer tactics is when they camp or tunnel. Is it really fun to stand and watch someone slowly die on a hook while gens pop off left and right? Is that really a fun time for someone, or even a good play strategy?

It's such an enjoyment when you shine the killers face

Tunneling however is fun indeed, because tunneling is just playing the game normally, but focusing on the already hooked survivor. This is in fact a good strategy and I challenge you to explain why tunneling would be a bad strategy

As far as we're concerned, the devs are the entity. They decide what is available to us to use in game. The way I see it, there's no such thing as as "toxic perks" or items, as long as it's put in the game by the devs on purpose it is fair game. Combining perks/items in sadistic ways is half the fun of the game.1

Challenge accepted. When killers focus on one survivor by tunneling them, they take the heat off the rest of us to get things done. Particularly if said survivor being tunneled is good at duking the killer for a considerable length of time. Usually when a survivor is tunneled its because the killer was camping or "patrolling" very close to the hook, see the hooked survivor get saved and take off after them. Either way they are ignoring the many and focusing on the one just to try and guarantee themselves a kill. Often that works out in the other survivors' favor. I've had many matches where we got the gens done practically uninterrupted because a killer was so focused on one survivor, be it through camping, tunneling, or both. I would actually thank them for giving us the opportunity to escape like that.
As for camping, the only time I think camping is justified is if the exit gates are powered and someone is on the hook.

When you're at a low rank like me, people who don't understand Leatherface and unhook right in front of me make me the happiest, it's a double down. But yeah, camping when the others aren't altruistic sucks.
As for tunneling, well... it's not fun, it's not not fun, it's just kind of a thing you can do?0 -
I think it's your job AS ANOTHER PLAYER IN THE GAME to have some good sportsmanship and be aware of when you might be intentionally or unintentionally being a bad sport. This goes for everyone in the game. I've been survivor with purple flashlight in a game with a killer that was playing with good sportsmanship, and I ended up only using it on him twice because I didn't want to spoil his game; once to blind him as he broke a pallet so I could (desperately) get out of the chase and again in a failed attempt to save a guy that was on his last hook (ie. he still got hooked). Didn't just gen rush either, just did my 1 gen for the emblem then went for totems and stuff and took my time going for the next.
Killers think that being the 'bad guy' according to the lore that gives them the right to be a complete ######### to survivors JUST BECAUSE they are the killer. Newsflash, it's a game so show good sportsmanship. If the game REQUIRES you to tunnel or camp or do whatever cheesey thing killers will do, then it's acceptable and if survivors get mad at you THEY are being the bad sport. And if you tunnel one guy all game then pick him up for the last hook, don't get mad when you get hit with a flashlight or body blocked because then YOU are being a bad sport since they are just doing what they should do in that situation. Also just because the last group were bad sports doesn't mean the next group will be.
I've straight up got a 4k, last guy is on my shoulder I carry him to the hatch and let him have it. WHY? Because it was a fun game, and every survivor played well (tho obv not too well) and had good sportsmanship. I still 2 pip, it's what a good sport would do. Granted killers are not obligated to do this sort of stuff, but my point is you don't need to play like a jerk all the time.

Trying to win the game or do as well as possible does not make you an ######### (this logic applies to both sides, no matter how annoying). Using efficient tactics pending on your situation does not suddenly make you a lesser person. These are some awfully weird ideas that some people bring up.

I think it's more entertaining to chase a survivor than getting camped/camping. You say that survivors are toxic or something because they use items, but if you have something good that's worth using (like a purple flashlight), why not use it? Do you have it for nothing? If killers complain that survivors are cancerous, why are they using overpowered add-ons (mint rag, iridescent king/head) and tell survivors they are salty when they complain about those overpowered add-ons? Of course survivor isn't fun when you take good items and get camped, it's like the killers' add-ons could be nulified by survivors if they blind you 3 times or something. And by the way, taking a toolbox doesn't mean you have brand new part and taking a flashlight doesn't mean you know how to blind.

No, it’s not your job. It’s everyone’s job to keep the game non-toxic and fun.1
