Are you saving shards for the new killer?
What are you guys doing with your shards? I've never bought any dlc, so all the killers I have were bought with shards. Lately I've been wanting to buy the Plague, but I'm hesitant because the next killer will come in a month and maybe I'll regret it(unless the new killer is licensed).

I've been buying killers with shards after I was gifted The Spirit DLC. Only buying the Ghost recently since it's licensed and not available with shards.
There are a lot of issues with DBD and I refuse to give them cash whenever possible ever since their Battlepass was revealed.
This includes the amazing skins that I'd LOVE to buy... if the game were in a better state and the devs could balance the game around the higher skilled players.
The same players that have played this game long enough to become that skilled...
*sigh*

Plague is pretty boring, if survivors don't cleanse you have a trapless Trapper after 2 minutes for the rest of the game.

I bought Spirit, Legion, and Doctor with shards. I got my money out of them so I've just used them for the past 8 months to buy perks I already have from the shrine to help with the grinding
That and It's very likely the next DLC will be licensed again

I bought all the DLC until the plague came out, so I have alot of shards already saved up. I bought plague with shards along with a cosmetic for legion, but still have like 22k left so...im set for awhile on buying new killers with shards.
Id say if you only have enough for 1 killer though, save em for now so you can make an educated decision when the new killer comes out.

And i probably won't be purchasing any new killers until they make something viable, because as it stands, only 3 killers get played at red ranks.
With Nurse, Billy and Spirit being the top, nothing changes every time they add a new mediocre killer.

I save my shards not to buy the killers but to invest more BP to get there perks and stuff faster

I'll get the next killer for shards if not a licensed chapter. Not including ghostface since he's licensed, I haven't bought a killer since spirit. Both legion and plague got with shards.
None of these chapters have been worth actual money for me and I hate the state of the game is in now

I'm shards only for chapters. The only reason i have Ash and Ghostface is because they were gifted to me. Legion and Plague chapter were shards and moving forward that is my plan for any future releases.

No. I use shards on the shrine only. If I want a DLC, I'll just kick out the 10$ for it since it's much faster and easier.

I use shards for cosmetics as I never pay money for something that doesn't change the gameplay. Apart from the charity case as that was for a good cause.
The DLC for me is always worth the price as no matter what the killer is I have fun learning the new mechanics of them.

They don't NEED to implement a battlepass system to make quality improvements to the game.
It's predatory greed and I won't give my money to company that engages in such anti-consumer practices.

Its only $5-$8 per dlc and i'd feel dumb if i saved shards up just for it to be another licensed killer.
I'll just buy it the morning it comes out like i always do. 🤷♀️
Using shards for bp when a new killer drops is way more time efficient.

i believe that BHVR put quite some work into it and therefore i wish to reward them with my money.
and lets be honest: if no one did that, they would stop creating new chapters, so its like an investment in the future of the game ^^

@SpaceCoconut 100+ million isn't enough. Even companies with billions struggle with content/changes. Look at Anthem a game with one of the biggest publishers behind it.
Bhvrs problem is their dlc focus. They don't do changes because new chapters and cosmetics are their priority.
No time or very little to change the old when you're constantly adding new. Every 3 months they add new characters and do mid chapter updates. They're heavily time limited.
Its not anti-consumer they need more money because this ######### is expensive. DbD isn't fornite making billions. Battle pass could be the change DbD needs. Maybe they'll make 500 mil and ramp up productivity.
They would have to double their size to simultaneously change and add at the rate they do.

I only ever bought Plague with shards. The others I just bought normally. Though originally I wanted to buy Legion with Shards, but I never did. Probably a good thing since Legion sucks now.

It depends on how they manage budget.
The previous year their revenue was estimated at $35 million. How did the quality of the game improve with that kind of funding?
Also, we can look at smaller games and dev teams who manage the changes to their games better.
The most recent example being Hide or Die and their dev choices/bugfixes.

I like to support the devs with money so I buy the killlers.
Killers complained about major issues of DS, MoM, hatch standoffs and Blendettes, all of which have been resolved. I appreciate the devs listen to some of our complaints. Fix Legion and I will be very happy.
If you are not at red rank, Plague is fun, different and enjoyable.

I've bought all without money except pig, Freddy and Myers. The people who spent money in killers buyable with shards will regret in the future when they won't know how to spend the shards, and spending it in BP is a bad deal.

You're so wrong. Plague is strong if you think about it, once she pukes on someone they'll eventually start bring broken, which does 2 things, the first one is, well, being broken, you're injured, and the second part is you vomit like crazy, and you're super loud, so stealth is impossible against a plague, even if you have iron will you will still vomit. The fact that survivors can be broken means that she can just 1 shot instead of 2 shot people, and if you run than thanatophia... oh boy, they're either gonna stay broken with a 16% reduction in speed, or they're gonna hate to see thanatophia and go cleanse.
