Forum Cleanup | August 2019
Hey all,
We just went through and did some Spring Summer cleaning. We don't want to leave you in the dark wondering what changed, so here's what happened.
Getting rid of unused subforums
Back when the forums first launched, we tried to plan ahead for the future. Some of the things we tried became regular features, others never got off the ground. These unused subforums have been removed to reduce clutter.
Combining lesser used subforums
In order to simplify things, we combined various similar subforums into one. As an added bonus, this means more people will see your post.
- Killers and Survivors subforums were merged into General Discussions: Most of the topics in these subforums were the same as General Discussions, and we felt that splitting the community wasn't something we wanted to do. The forums should bring people together, not separate them.
- Wishlist and Balance Feedback were merged in a new subforum, "Suggestions and Feedback": This caused a lot of confusion originally: "Where do I post my perk idea? It technically a wishlist thing, but I also think it could balance the game." Both of these subforums appeal to the same crowd; those of us who enjoy talking about game design. Merging them together reduces confusion without losing what made them special.
- International Subforums were merged into a new subforum, "International Discussions": We have a language option on the forum for languages that we officially support, but we still want to give people who don't speak one of those languages somewhere to go. Having one subforum for each language was unnecessary since they weren't used much, and also excluded people who didn't speak one of those languages. This way everyone is welcome.
There's a few other minor merges as well, though these sections were only used by the community team.
NOTE: Don't worry about your old posts, they're still here! They were just moved to General Discussions.
New subforum
We've added an "Ask the Community" subforum. This is a place someone can go if they're just looking for an answer, not a debate, or where people who are feeling helpful can go to give someone an answer.
This subforum follows one simple rule: There are no dumb questions.
If you're brand new to the game and have no clue what you're doing, you can ask whatever you want without being judged. If you're a seasoned veteran and you just want to know that one super specific detail, that's okay too.
Please keep discussions here to a minimum- if you want to discuss something in detail, please take it to General Discussions (or the appropriate subforum). It's purely to ask a question or give an answer.
Hopefully this clears everything up. Let us know below how you feel about these changes.

And what about drafts?
I'm not getting those anymore, is the auto-save off?

Oof, the forums are going to going to get crowded in General Discussions with the amount of Discussions that's about to spawn.

I think this will just make us killer mains and those survs mains argue more cuz atleast before this we could complain to each other cuz now if we go to complain we will get bombarded by the survs

Minor gripe I've had for a while: why does the textbox for a new post have its font forced to bold? On the occasions when I use the text formatting, I can never tell if I marked text as bold or not until after I've posted.

You mean I gotta talk to salty killers now? Much easier to navigate. Thumbs up

Nono, I mean, the stylesheets for the forums have the post entry box's font weight always bold. i.e. typing something in a fresh blank box, selecting some of it and hitting the bold option has no visible effect only while you're writing or editing a post.
The formatting works when the post is submitted, but while writing I have no way to know if text is actually bold.
