Myers' Contradictory Perks +tips

So I was looking through DbD's killers and was trying to figure out which ones would be the easiest to get the Adept achievements with. As I was looking at their perks, I noticed something a bit odd...

One of The Shape's perks directly oppose the other two.

Save The Best For Last / STBFL - When you hit a Survivor that is not your obsession, it gets better. When you hit your obsession, it gets worse. When your obsession dies, it can't get better or worse.

Play With Your Food / PWYF - When you chase your obsession then let them live, it gets better. When you do anything mean like attacking, it gets worse. When your obsession dies, it can't get better, and only gets worse.

Dying Light - While your obsession is alive, it gets worse. When your obsession dies, it gets better.

So if you are trying to get Adept Shape, you are corralled into 2 play styles:

  1. STBFL + PWYF: Leave the obsession completely unharmed, and get nothing from Dying Light.
  2. Dying Light: Kill the obsession first, but lose the ability to improve STBFL and PWYF.

Firstly, why was he designed like this?

Secondly, when I get around to doing Adept Shape, which play style should I be using? STBFL gives you 40% faster attacking and PWYF gives you 15% faster movement speed, but Dying Light gives the last 3 survivors a massive 25% action speed penalty.

For adept it's unlikely you can trigger Dying Light fast enough to have a big impact. You can bring a mori, but then you risk not getting enough hooks for your devout emblem.

I'd say go for the other two, but don't actively try for PWYF stacks, it spends too much time for too little reward. His is one of the harder adepts cos his default perks are almost nothing for him.

Pirfect scenario is to get full stack of stbfl using pwyf (by avoiding obsession), than tunel down obsession preferably with one shots to save all your stbfl stacks. And from there do other stuff... Pretty tricky. I guess, only actually useful perk for him there stbfl and two add-ons for fast t3.

Tbh adept shape is easier with fragrant tuft of hair and Myers memorial.

Stalk everyone till infinite tier 3 but maintain chasing and downing people. But pop tier 3 once you've got high stbfl stacks in order to maintain more of them against the obsession (as it will take half the hits therefore half the tokens.)

Don't actively ignore the obsession though. If they put themselves in your way feel free to attack them, a health state is always more worthwhile then a stack from a perk imo.

Honestly for adept, I'd recommend using the wallhack mirrors, probably the tier 2 one to still be a decent speed.

One hit downs make adept really hard as they remove a lot of points from the chaser and malicious emblem, you're better off locking yourself in tier 2 and gaining wallhacks.

Tombstone piece is a quick way of getting rid of the obsession without attacking them. You can max out your STBFL tokens, and then tombstone the obsession to keep the 8 tokens and activate dying light. Killing the obsession like this also wont use up any tokens from STBFL OR PWYF, although PWYF will be pretty worthless afterwards.

Hm, actually scratched mirror on Lerry's could do the trick. You don't really need anything except his add-ons for this to work. Just don't be too overzealous with grabs and surprise attacks. Survs really get discouraged fast with that.

This. Scratched Mirror at Lerry's and you'll get merciless killer easily regardless of which perks you use. Although I'd do it at a lower rank. If you get really optimal survivors they could give you some trouble. But even if you don't get it the first time it really shouldn't take more than a couple tries. Scratched mirror at lerry's is really strong. It's easy to surprise attack survivors on that map. PWYF will make it even easier with the speed boost and I would pair the mirror with Boyfriends memo to make the lunge slightly better.

I got my adept Michael with scratched mirror on Lery's. But this was in the days before the double pip requirement when all you had to do was kill them all.

But from memory I did get 3 hooks out of all of them and got a nice double pip. Spooky Michael on Lery's is so much fun. You'll want to make it last anyway.

Yeah, the Shape's perks have always been useless gimmicks for meme builds. The only good perk he had, Save the best for last, was nerfed into the ground and made completely useless because survivors complained about not being able to farm their hooked teammates when versing a killer who was running it.

Myers' perks don't work well together by themselves, but are well designed around his addons. Your best bet would probably to use the Tombstone Piece + J.Myers Memorial, farm stacks of STBLF and than kill the obsession without hitting them to keep your stacks. Ignore PWYF since you'll probably just waste time trying to get use of it.

they are contradictory but if you think about it , hes the obssesion based killer, with those perks no matter what you do to the obssesion, youll get a benefit
