In Darkness They Bloom Chapter Finished (A few addons missing)

This chapter introduces the Gardener as a killer that uses plants to attempt to slow down survivors from their escape. He has three teachable perks and a unique power called Putrid Botany. This killer is presented in the fan made Chapter "Every Rose has A Thorn"

Backstory: 


    Born into a world of cruelty and malice, young Johnathan however found light in all of it by gardening. He loved it beyond reason and created the most luxurious gardens in his time. He had a green thumb thanks to his mother who shared a similar interest in botanical knowledge. After his mother died when he was twenty-five, he just received a letter from an incredibly wealthy family.

   

   The family owned a mansion that had one of the most beautiful of gardens in North America. After his mother's estate had been finished, he was escorted to the mansion that was mounted on top of a dreary hillside overlooking a vast mountain range. The family he worked for at first seemed rather kind, loving and gentle and took him in with open arms. 


   But of course there was more that met the eye. Months after starting his job, he had to care and tend to the gardens that resided on the property. He was always seen talking to the flowers and plants that grew there. Johnathan had no real friends, the plants were his friends. Plus he also considered the plants to be kind of vessels, a means of speaking to his dead mother that he missed so much. 


    The youngest member of the Family he worked for always watched the gardner hard at work, caring and tending to the plants. The boy teased and taunted Johnathan constantly to the point of sheer annoyance. He threatened the boy a few times when no one was looking, but then one day the boy vanished completely out of nowhere. 


   Unfortunately for Johnathan the second youngest of the siblings had overheard their conversation, and the young girl told her parents what she had heard Johnathan say. Outraged they threatened to fire him if he didn't find their child. Johnathan had no clue where the little brat had gone, but he was forced to search for him nonetheless because he dreaded the thought of losing his job. 


    His search for the boy led him into the strange mysterious fog covered forest. It was in the middle of the night when he heard the crunching of bones and the splatter of blood. He was terrified to continue forward but he must. If the boy was in any danger he'd have to attempt to save him. The horrors that he feared came true as the sight of the child's mangled body bestowed upon his vision.


   Starving wolves had been mauling and eating at the corpse of the child and the sheer shock had washed over him, all sanity of the Gardner had since fled him when he returned to the mansion. The family was grieved and had moved away from the mansion, leaving him the garden and the house to care for in their absence. The family had not been seen since and the fog from the forest had managed to seep its way up onto the house on the hill and Johnathan  had not been seen since. 



       The Gardener's source of power are the Putrid Seeds. Flower seeds that are black and speckled with crimson red specks that glow eerily. The Gardener bends down and plants these seeds into the ground creating Putrid Flower Beds. Upon creating the Putrid Flower Beds, Snapper Flowers instantly start growing. Once the flowers are in full bloom, vines spread out a few meters around the Putrid Flower Bed in which they root themselves. Putrid Flower Beds in full bloom last for 45 seconds. 


*Upon the start of the Trail the Gardener is given 10 Putrid Flower Seeds to plant. He may plant them on lockers, window vaults, and generators. When he plants them the flowers instantly bloom into Snapper Flowers. Snapper flowers have vines that stretch out a few inches from the area they have been planted. Putrid Flower Beds in vaulting windows instantly close down the window until they have wilted. Putrid Flower Beds last for 45 seconds. Planting the seeds takes 2 seconds to accomplish. 


*Survivors who get near fully bloomed Snapper flowers have a chance at getting snapped. If snapped survivors give out a sound notification to the killer and must unsnap themselves from the flower's grasp, this takes 12 seconds to do. Survivors may remove Snapper Flowers Putrid Flower Beds.Removing Putrid Flower beds takes 12 seconds  and also alerts the killer of your location once the beds have been removed. It rewards bonus Bold points upon removing the flower beds. 

*The Gardener may plant seeds on generators to slow their progression. Survivors can work on the generators with the Snapper Flowers on them without alerting the killer, but the gen's progression is slowed until the Snapper Flowers are removed. Two Putrid Flower Beds may occupy a single generator. Two seeds will be equivalent to a single seed upon planting them on the generator. Generators covered in Snappers cannot be worked on until either removed or withered. 



Teachable Perks:

Green Thumb: You have a knack for growing things. At the start of the trial vaulting windows and lockers will be blocked by a wall of vines, pallets will also be restrained by vines hindering them incapable of being tossed down for 10/20/30 seconds. "It's too late, there is no escaping this hell garden," 

Hex: Groundskeeper: A hex rooting its power on escape. After the final generator is done the hex actuates, exit gates will have skill checks when a survivor attempts to open either of the gates. These skill checks are tremendously difficult and decrease door progression if a skill check is missed. Each failed skill check decreases the door progression 50/75/100%. Upon cleansing the hex totem both exit gates will open automatically. If all totems on the map are cleansed the hex doesn't activate. "The gates are closed, he doesn't want us leaving this place." 


Harrowed: The loss of your totems enrages you and your bloodlust for the kill increases. Each time a survivor removes a totem from the map, the killer gains 3%/4%/5% speed in vaulting windows, searching lockers and smashing pallets. - "Nothing stops him from finding you, your doomed no matter what." 


The Killer's Addons

Common Addons: 

Rusty Shears -  Hit target suffers from the Hemorrhage Status Effect for 30 seconds.

Weed Trimmer - Hit targets suffer the blindness status effect for thirty seconds. 

Rusty Shovel -- Reduces the time for the Gardener to Plant Putrid Flower Beds.

Watering Can - Decreases the time for Putrid Flower Beds to grow




Uncommon Addons: 

Garden Gnome - HIt targets suffer the hindered status for 15 seconds. 

Vintage Bug Sprayer - Slightly increases the time for survivors to pluck Putrid Flower Beds. 

Old Seed Packet  - The Gardener starts with one extra Putrid Flower seed. 

Broken Hoe - Hit targets suffer Hemorrhage status effect for 60 seconds. 

Bug Spray - Survivors suffer t he blindness status effect for 30 seconds.

Metal Funnel -  Slightly decreases cool down time between planting seeds.

Backstory: 

  

   Growing up was pretty good for Ethane and his family. His mother was in charge of one of the most famous bakeries in all France. She loved baking goodies for him and his six brothers. Ethane happened to be the seventh son of a seventh son. His father had been the seventh son of his own family as well which was what made Ethane even more special.  No one knew what happened to his father the night he disappeared after going to work when Ethane was about seven years old. 


     When Ethane was thirteen a police officer showed up at the family's doorstep and announced that they had found his father, unfortunately he had died in a strange mysterious murder case that no one had been able to solve at all. Ever since his father passed away, Ethane became obsessed with the paranormal. He had looked everywhere for a true Psychics to help him find the spirit of his father to attempt to unravel the mystery of his death. 


    After years of searching, finally he had found a real class Psychic who was famous throughout Europe as being the one who may contact the Spirits of the other World. He had paid a lot of money to set up a session with her. Once the seance had begun strange things had happened. But then they finally made contact with his father. His father didn't talk but showed smoke pictures through smoke the burning sage produced. 


    In one of the illusions cast by the sage smoke, a large mansion on a hill could be seen, covered in plants. The Psychic had told him that this used to be the house of a family that once lived there until they had lost their son, no one knew what had happened to the missing boy, but most believe it was the Gardener's fault the child went missing to begin with. 


    He had decided to go up to the mansion to investigate. Exploring the abandoned the mansion he noticed that no one had lived there. He walked toward the backyard to see the garden still in full bloom and being taken care of. This struck Ethane as odd seeing as the place looked abandoned. But he didn't notice the hulky figure behind him carrying a gardening rake ready to strike. 


Perks:

  Ethene comes in with three unique teachable perks other survivors can learn. 


EMP - Each time a survivor fails a skill check gain one token per failed skill check, a total of 2/3//4 tokens may be given. Each token guarantee's a fast vault of 3/6/9% speed when a survivor vaults a window or pallet. Each time a vault has been performed a token is removed. - "These electric energies in the air give me a boost of morality," 


EVP - Every time you are within the terror radius of the killer for 30/25/20 seconds  you gain a token. 1/2/4 tokens may be given. Once all 4 tokens are gained gain immunity of being pulled off by the killer when you unhook someone. Each time you unhook a survivor you lose a token. - "I laugh in the face of danger." 


ESP -You are very aware of your surroundings and seem to almost predict ill fate. Whenever a survivor gets hooked you gain a token. 2/3/4 tokens may be given. Once the 4th token is rewarded you can see the Killer's aura for 30 seconds while unhooking a survivor.
