Is there a lore reason why survivor clones can exist?
What I mean is having multiple of the same survivor in a game. Why can 4 Claudettes exist at once? Is there a lore reason for this that explains it? My guess is that it is just something you have to accept as a game mechanic to not limit players choices. Also I wonder if the survivors have any reaction to seeing clones of themselves.

That's simple. Different versions of the same person at different points of time.

But what if they are all the same version 😳

It's simple. Claudette's Persona is three more Claudettes.

No. Its just for game play reasons.

Claudette is becoming too powerful.

Someday she'll be able to have three Satanaels as a Persona and be able to 1v1 the Entity. And win.

Since the Entity's realm is outside of Time and space, Having another Dwight for example could mean Past Dwight or Future Dwight. The Entity's Realm is where physics does not apply so the Clone that you see before you could either be tomorrow you or yesterday you

"Hey, do I live."
"No."
"Does anyone live?"
"Yes."
"Who?"
"..."
"It's Claudette again, isn't it?"
"Yep."

That's where it gets even more complicated, the Entity exists outside of Time and Space and controls the realm so even if you see yourself from the Past in the same trial, it won't be something that you've experienced yet. Different universes, different timelines etc. My head hurts now.

The same reason there can be multiple of the same class in Team Fortress 2

If you watch Doctor Who then you'll understand all of this

although i unfortunately don't have the link to it, i do remember them talking about this in a live stream. they just said that it's non-canon and, while they did consider only allowing one of each character per lobby, they quickly decided against it for gameplay reasons.

Its just game mechanics. I like to say that multiple of one character is "non-canon".

That's lovecraftian entities for you!

Maybe it's similar to how the Entity builds maps. She has a "database" of people she has taken and randomly picks 4 when a trial is about to start. She doesn't check for duplicates so you can have two instances of the same person.

Most likely possibly is that the Entity is in a realm where it can pull from every single timeline. Take someone it sees that it thinks is worthy, then rip them out of every single timeline that they were in. Giving yourself a clone. Which is why no one in the game is exactly the same. 4 Dwight’s can all look the same, but they won’t all act the same. This is how we get the different outfits, yes it’s their past lives, but it could have been what they were wearing at the time of being taken. Only for the outfit to be lost to the fog.
The outfit part is a stretch, but this is most likely how clones exist
