Deathgarden: Bloodharvest

So, since I already own DBD, I can get the game for only $5.99 on that bundle since it doesn't charge you for a new copy of DBD.

How is the game? I see the steam chart numbers are very low. How are queue times for Scavenger and Hunter?

Que times are instant for scavanger. They've been higher for Hunter lately due to a new Hunter coming out that is super good, but even then it's only a few minutes tops, much better than the Killer que times in DBD.

Game is really fun. I will warn you that the new Hunter they added (vet) is really OP, but we are expecting nerfs soon so you shouldn't not get the game just because of that. Other than that the game is far more engaging than DBD.

The objective is more involved for Scavs and is far less tedious for Hunter since looping isn't really a thing.

@NuclearBurrito I tried it during the free weekend back when it first launched again. What was that? June or July or something? Anyway, back then I liked Poacher. Soldier 76 was one of my DPS mains in Overwatch, and his gun felt very similar, so a lot of my muscle memory translated over. And tracking the scavengers with him wasn't too different from tracking a Genji with 76.

And yeah, I heard about the new Hunter. Definitely sounds like it needs some incoming nerfs.

My biggest concern based on the Steam Charts was the queue times. But it sounds like they're okay, so nothing to lose on the $6, I suppose.

It's a matter of when and how she's nerfed. Not if.

The devs have had a pattern of listening to WHAT needs nerfs/buffs and then giving them changes that technically address the feedback but end up missing the point entirely when you think about it.

For example the scav Dash was OP because of his perks. But in response to us saying he was OP they nerfed his ability without touching his perks at all. They fixed it later so in the long run it's all good but it can be annoying.

but yeah if it's the ques you are worried about then there is nothing to worry about

@NuclearBurrito Correct me if I'm wrong, but the scavs all have their own Perks and those perks are for that character only? If so, that's already a selling point. One of the things I hate about survivor in DBD is the teachable perks and the fact that survivors just become skins after a while.

That was one thing I liked about Friday the 13th. At least each counselor had their own stats, and therefore their own strengths and weaknesses. The way survivors ended up here in DBD just made me not want to play them.

Yes. All perks are character specific and in addition to that Scavanger's also can pick between 1 of 2 Vambraces which act as a special power.

There are 6 different Vambraces total:

    Smoke

    Camo

    Clone

    Shield

    Heal

    Speed

There may be more added in the future of course.

I haven't played it a whole lot, but from what I could tell it depends very much on what you're looking for. If the idea of a game which is more fast paced than DBD, more battle arena style (I got a distinct Hunger Games vibe from it) appeals to you, then Deathgarden is for you, but if you prefer atmospheric stealth games, it might not be.

It has around 350 players average, but people still defend it by saying "hurrlul queue times don't exist". But the question is, who's gonna fund this game? Those 350 sure won't. And that's taking into consideration all of those 350 players are loyal enough to fund it, so the number would probably reduce to like 150 at best. Around 60 of those wouldn't spend more than 5 extra dollars on the game, so there's also that.

Imo they failed in advertising, the just paid some dbd yt-ers and streamers to play the game and that's it.

Imagine DbD, but even more survivor favored. That's Deathgarden.

People like the OP who like this games are obviously.

This game's still getting new players and it's still in early access too. It's not like DBD had a huge playerbase before launch and it's a bad idea to heavily advertise a game like this pre-release.

I've seen plenty of people like you complain about an early access games playerbase. And every single time the full release also came with a massive spike in player count.

It's really not. A good Hunter will excell in DG.

Yeah a good Scav can sometimes win anyways, but even the most boosted of teams can be broken by a good enough Hunter.

@Acromio and @NuclearBurrito I have to agree with Nuclear on this one. Just like in DbD, there are posts at their forums, the steam forums, and reddit crying that Scavenger is OP, and then the posts claiming that Hunter is OP.

At this point, I'm not seeing clear evidence of either side being OP (except the new Hunter right now), not even when I check out game play via Streams. It's still the same issue of player skill level. Also keep in mind that the matchmaking in Deathgarden is even more broad that DbD is currently suffering, so you are getting players of varied skill levels in the same match. But I've messed around in battle royales like Apex and Realm Royale, so I'm already used to that stuff.

I haven't purchased the game yet, only because I'm still debating whether or not (1) I need yet another asymmetrical game when I already play DbD and F13, and (2) whether or not I want to go into another shooter-esque game when I already burned out on shooters after years of Overwatch, and also playing Paladins, Apex, and Realm Royale on the side.
