Customization Options for HUD
TLDR: Please create options to reduce size of HUD elements, possibly hide them completely, and move change their positions for a better more immersive game experience and better content creation.
I want an updated HUD that allows me to customize my layout and improve my Dead by Daylight experience. The simplest and most reasonable request for this would be for the devs to create 3 HUD presets. You can even have little recommendations like Standard HUD being the recommended one for beginners and so on.
Preset 1: Standard HUD - The HUD as we all know it currently. Player names and status icons in the corner, perks in the other corner, action prompts in the center of the screen when available, action progress bar bottom center, point tracking pop-ups left side. Nothing new here.
Preset 2: Minimalist / Improved Immersion / Pop-up HUD - All HUD elements hidden off screen unless currently in affect / happened in the last 3-5 seconds. Imagine color coded binder tabs on the sides / bottom of the screen that only draw attention to themselves when it matters. Obviously, the point is to leave the screen as clear as possible 95% of the time while still indicating important stats and drawing attention to them only when necessary. Hence, minimalist.
Detailed examples: Instead of seeing the full play status icons at all times, you would see a small tab with player names peeking out of the bottom and they would be different colors for different conditions (I.E. blue for perfectly fine, red for hurt, and black for dead). But they would also pop up to show a little more detail when a status change occurs (I.E. player gets hit or healed) for 3-5 seconds then go back to just peeking off the side. Same goes for perks, actions and everything else. Perks wouldn't change much, they would just have smaller icon tabs poking out and when they are activated the they can light up and expose more detail briefly after initially being activated / stay exposed and lit for the duration of their use if it's more important to see the visual cue (I.E. spine chill). Points progression notifications can just be made smaller and shorter. Action progress bars / prompts / and skill checks could be on the bottom center and smaller instead of dead center of the screen (can move it around the edges instead of just leaving bottom center for things like the doctor's mechanics). Gen counter can just be a number showing from the tab. Item icons also just need the size reduced to a small tab and only pop up to show charges and add-ons while in use.
Preset 3: Nothing / Full Immersion HUD - Not much to explain here. Hide everything except maybe the absolute necessities like the skill checks. And if you do keep elements like the skill check meters, they should be unassuming and out of main focus. This preset would mainly be for content creators who are trying to get the nicest screenshots and video captures possible.
Beyond the presets: Ideally I'd like a modular approach where I just have a list of all the HUD elements and chose how they are all displayed independently. So, I could turn off the point notifications all together, leave my perks standard size, use the pop-up version of the gen counter and player statuses, and shrink the skill check icons (or something like that) and save my own custom HUD layout. That way I could maximize the horror immersion of the game, while still being feed the important game info.
I think this is something a bunch of experienced players and content creators would appreciate.
