Dedicated Servers in 3.2.0?
So is it final that dedicated servers will make it in 3.2.0?
I couldn't find any confirmation to that.

That was the plan but of course that all depends on how the PTB tests went.
I personally would rather they delay them if they are not up to a decent standard for most players.

Dedicated servers are faraway from ready.. I really hope BHVR will make the right decision and delay them.. otherwise the new players from Stranger Things will probably hate the game from their first round.

Wait what?
I played many PTB games. Why dedicated servers are far from ready? I had a really good experience with them.
What exactly is not right about dedicated servers?

I am also curious about how dedicated servers are coming (well...not curious enough to actually download PTB). I was wondering about their stability?

I made dozens of game on PTB, on European servers, this time around and in previous PTB times dedicated servers were alive. To me, at the very least in the current PTB dedicated servers were very stable with a very good ping. Didn't have any problems at all.
That's why what the other guys said surprised me very much, especially since they didn't really bother to specify whats not good about them. Maybe those players have poor connection.
In fact, the dedicated servers experience I've had was amazing and ten times better than how the current system works.
My body is ready for dedicated servers in 3.9.2!

It was fine for survivor. But a killer like Huntress was borderline unplayable.

As far as I know they don’t have servers up for every region yet. Australia-Oceania has no servers I believe, and some other places.
There’s also the Huntress and Plague issues - laggy projectiles and multiple hit registrations that in Huntress’ case can oneshot a survivor without Iridescent Heads.

How was it unplayable? I mean, for all I know that havent been there on the dedicated servers, it could just as well mean "it was unplayable for hatchets cause without the lag for the survivors, she couldnt hit with her hatchets anymore"

It was less the fact that there was less latency on the survivor end as it was that there was more on the killer end. As I understand it, previously killer powers which require aiming, like Huntress' hatchets, were able to be charged, thrown and connect instantly and predictably, because the game was hosted on the killer's connection. However, the killer's connected to the server is not likewise instantaneous, which causes problems with aiming. This is mainly because it's a lot harder to aim at a target when not only is the killer seeing survivors, not as they are in real time, but as they were a tenth of a second ago, but the survivor has had another tenth of a second to move in the time between the hatchet being thrown and the server registering that information. A tenth of a second might not sound like it makes much difference, but... it really does.
Hopefully that makes some sense.

@Satsui Dude if you just play survivor and previously had ######### connection, of course it would not seem bad but if you actually want to test the servers you HAVE to play killer! Here are just SOME problems I experienced with dedicated servers:
DISCLAIMER: ALL MATCHES WERE PLAYED WITH A CONSTANT PING OF 35ms
- Nurse was very suttery and resetting like a meter back for every blink,
- Huntress had far too much lag on the hatchet (charging AND throwing / connecting)
- Plague was just utterly, completely UNPLAYABLE because of 1 second+ delay on vomit
- Myers would toggle Tier 3 on / off for like 4-5 times in 0.5 seconds and insta-mori M1 grabs did not register from time to time, resulting in lunge instead of grab
- Myers stalking desync with server (stalking bar loses like 1/10th of progress when stopping survivor stalk)
- grabs are worse than before, showing half of the animation and then cancelling and resulting in a hit
- survivors spinning in circle had very very strange movement on killer screen
- Demogorgon lunge often did not hit, although stopping directly in front of survivor at half the lunge range.. (like Billy chainsaw "ghost hits", I bet they use similar tech here)
- Sometimes hooking a survivor not possible (bar will not fill up, killer freezes in motion until survivor wiggles free)
- Clown had slight delay on bottles, although nowhere near as bad as huntress
- Billy can hit chainsaw around corner although survivor is 1 meter away on their screen
- Huntress hatchets went through multiple survivors at once and often double hit resulting in an insta-down
- From this insta-down 2 or 3 times the entire dedicated server crashed for all players
- Chases would sometimes not trigger until very close to survivor, definitely other behavior then in current live build!

No, just a regular killer player which is very sensitive to bad connections :)

The only reason I even want dedicated servers is the idea that DCs will be more punishable. Right now, killer hosted matches are fine, even if I do get the occasional lucky swing through a pallet hit.
All this hype about dedicated servers. If they aren't awesome, get rid of them.

So killer mains are dealing with their bad ping like the rest of us now? XD

The thing that I have noticed when I tried the dedicated servers is that they are inconsistent. Some matches were great, and some were really bad. So at the end, it all depends on the killer's ping. Apparently the netcode (tick rate and lag compensation) is not in a good spot.
Nevertheless, they are still much better than P2P when playing survivor.

That was what I was hoping to hear. That sounds good but some of the other posts in this thread seem like there might still be issues.
Either way, I mostly play killer and have great IS (NA) so I usually have good games so I was a little skeptical with dedicated servers.
Then again, this is an online game so I suppose launch day for dedicated servers will have the same myriad of issues as every other online game in the history of the interweb.

made perfect sense to me, good description, thank you!

Lmao the occasional lucky swing? I wish I had your luck!

Kind of. They aren't rolling them out all at once. Only some features.

Uhm. I played Demogorgon with 80-100ms ping. I played 95% of my games as a Demogorgon killer. It didn't feel grabs were that bad or the Lunge didn't work. That is odd.
I can't comment on other things though, as I haven't played Myers or Plague.
But playing many many games as Demogorgon with 80-100ms ping and I did not feel any of the stuff you mentioned in general for killers or for Demogorgon. Chases were fine. Launges were fine, grabs were fine.
So maybe those problems are for killers who are used to host games and not have the best connection in the world, or these are problems related to specific servers?

Yeah, fair enough.
