Enough With Tapping the Space Key ...
... on your second hook. Is this supposed to add suspense? Is this supposed to add a sense of struggle? What about the sense of peoples arthritis, or peoples carpal tunnel syndrome? Do you think the benefit of tapping this key over and over and over, match after match, really does justice to people who have bone/hand disease? It's actually mildly discriminatory towards someone's disability — not to mention a general nuisance to the overall player base.
Stop it.

Agreed, I think you should just be able to hold it down instead of tapping it rapidly. It ruins the keyboard/controller quickly.

Y'all should watch Dashie play this game, it really does add some sort of tension.
I do think there should be an option to make it something you can hold, for those who need it.
Also, with a controller you don't need to shake it left and right, you just have to spin the joystick in a circle, not even remotely fast or hard. Keyboards tho have to be mashed like that :/

Really? I've never died from not mashing.

or just......don't smash your key and abuse it.

Mathieu said, long ago, it was done to make people stay in the game.
If you were just hanging there without having to do so, you'd just browse your phone until you'd get unhooked or die.
Not the perfect quote, but this is pretty accurate.

What's wrong about browsing your phone? The smashing is actually the reason why I don't stay in the game. Cuz I won't do it.

That's some stupid logic. Why can't I browser my phone or get a snack while I'm waiting to participate in the match again? If that's the case then they might as well add struggling on your first hook.

Replacing it with Skill Checks should be a fine replacement: No more mashing, but no doing-nothing either.
Would train casuals on Skill Checks as well.

Give it a forgiving zone.
The point of them is to make people stay in the game, or kill them, NOT to make it difficult.

Button mashing absolutely needs to go, it’s as simple as that.
Unfortunately this has been suggested hundreds of times already and has been consistently ignored or brushed off by BHVR. Accessibility is definitely not BHVR’s strong suit as they really don’t seem to care.

I desperately want these motions out of the game. Don't make it a skill check, or a button hold, just remove it entirely. If I want to "Give Up" and let myself die on the hook, I can hold the button to fill a meter, same as attempting escape. I shouldn't have to hold any button unless I'm opening, repairing, cleansing, healing, or sabotaging.
Not to mention on a controller you can't pan the camera around unless you awkwardly use two hands and worry about bumping your finger to stop the mashing process, killing yourself accidentally.

right now you die of a lag spike either way. I'd rather die to a lag spike while hitting skill checks every so often than die to a lag spike while also breaking my space bar

@Boss He's also the guy that infamously suggested players go play an entirely different game rather that professionally address the issue at hand at the time.
So . . . .
Before I knew his work history, I heard that and immediately thought that it was a very Activision-Blizzard or EA thing to say. Well, the EA part fit.

What!? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahah. Wow. This is the first time I heard of this, and this is just absolutely embarrassing. No, im not insulting him. I actually, quite literally, feel really bad for his brain generating his line of thinking. This is incompetence by the most rudimentary standards that it makes me bury my face in my hand in disgust — especially when it effects others with disabilities who are unable to perform repetitive hand movements comfortably.
Disgraceful.
