Slightly, moderately, considerably, tremendously... why not just give us the percentages?
Percentages are precise and objective. I have no idea how much is "tremendously" I have to look up the percentage online when it should just say it in the game. Perks use percentages so why don't the add ons? It just makes things easier to understand.

The current way allows the devs to change around values without having to change descriptions as well.
And while I do spend a considerable amount of time researching those values, I do prefer the adjectives over mere values, some values would also make little sense to people who don't understand how they are calculated in the code.

How long would it take to change values in a description? Once it's done for all, and a change needs to be made, a few minutes at most?

I agree with OP, and specifically telling us whether the values are additive or multiplicative when stacking would be greatly appreciated.
2 -
Devs said it's better because you wouldn't be willing to use a slighlty increasing addon if you would be able to see the actual percentage.
The real reason is because they can change the values whenever they want, without telling us (as they did with lf).

Well they have mentioned that numerous times, positive modifiers are additive and negative ones are multiplicative.
If several modifiers affect you, they are first added together, then applied as a multiplier.

It's not that simple.

Yeah I really wish they'd just put values. It's a pain in the ass trying to work out the value of things when it varies each time it's used.
Or at least give us the option like DIablo does of allowing "complex" descriptions.
These stupid vague terms only detract from the game.

I prefer the wording of "Slightly decreases the Chainsaw's charge time" over "Decreases the Chainsaw's charge time by 12 %".
They'd also have to reword several hundred descriptions for Unlockables for this, simply because of how the English language structures its sentences and the same would probably be true for all other languages. That's just an amount of work that isn't worth it.

It doesn't have to be percentages. You can spell the values in flat seconds/meters/whatever other metrics there are.
For that matter I also wish power descriptions would include actual values. How long does my ability last ? How long is the cooldown ? How much recovery do I have if I miss etc. Its really dumb to have to look for this basic things on wikis.

You can actually just put a variable in the description which refers to the actual percentage values, so anytime you adjust the values it automatically adjusts in the perk.
Goes to show how lacking the programming skills are.

That's just bad programming on their part. They didn't build it right from the start. Well, they think of it this way. Why give the valeus ourselves when our dedicated team of unpaid wiki maintainers are doing it for us?

Its not as catchy, and its more of a mouthful tbh...

Cold dirt was once Tremendously, now is considerably

Just because they don't have to doesn't mean they don't.

I mean it's nice that you prefer a specific wording, it doesn't make its vagueness any less irritating.
I think a vast majority of the playerbase would take useful information over having a better ring to it.

I was told it was to not overwhelm casual players with numbers.
But also said they'd like a toggle option to show numbers or the words.

How many seconds are added to tremendously increased vomit chance?
That's the problem.

@Boss That is a piss-poor excuse on their part. Way to insult the intelligence of your customers.
I worked in table-top game design for over 12 years, and even the most casual rule set, like Fate or Savage Worlds, gave solid numbers and not just colorful descriptors.
Why? Because in gaming, the hard values are important when trying to figure out character builds and such. Vague descriptors mean jack. Save them for your prose writing. You don't use them in place of values in game design.
I'm often times wondering what level of Game Design education or experience this Dev team possessed prior to DbD.

To those of you who want to see some percentages, refer to this reddit post:
This may be a bit out-dated (in the Freddy area, particularly,) but it does provide a good baseline for numbers.

Devs don't wanna show the numbers, because there would be a lot complains why this addon value isn't higher etc.
0 -
Yeah, a bunch of Wraith ones are probably not correct anymore either.

Wraith still has the old addons there
