can the hatch close?

i was the last survivor in my match and i found the hatch but it was shut, if it can be shut i had no idea but ive tried googling it and cant find any answer! im not sure whether this was a glitch in the game or if it sometimes doesn’t open? i looked through the killer’s (ghost face) perks and nothing mentioned the ability to close off the hatch at the end!

Killer can close the hatch if they find it first. Did the EGC bar pop up at the top of the screen?

The killer has the ability to close the hatch by default. This blocks off all generators and powers the exit gates. To escape you have to open an exit gate or use a key to re-open the hatch.
