The Basement Situation
I just got into another "Basement Situation" with Bubba. So after a chase I'm eventually downed and put in the basement. And then 1 by 1 the survivors come down and get insta downed, and I'm forced to watch helpless as they just throw themselves at Bubba. Then luckily one of my team mates gets off the hook but instead of unhooking me they decide to make a run for it, while injured with Bubba at the top of the stairs. Why do they do this? It's happened to me multiple times now, why not get the 2 people off the hooks right now and actually play tactically?
It's amazing how one person can completely derail the match, we might have had a chance to get out of there (especially considering I had Head On). This was near the beginning of the match - we all started together and Claudette blew the gen we were all on and I had to distract him (Claud was the one who also got off the hook...).
What are the best tactics for getting out of this situation? In this situation I usually end up being hooked and then can do nothing as I have to rely solely on the rest of the team.

Ah, basement Bubba. He pretty much reenacts the plot of Texas Chain Saw every time.
The only reliable answer is to forego altruism. If he wants to camp the basement, leave him down there and pop gens. I know that doesn't do anything for you if you're the one on the hook, and it's not exactly a fun strategy, but it works.

This may sound stupid, but stay as far away from the basement as possible when playing against Bubba. There are enough generators in each map to allow you to not have to go near hooking distance of the basement. If you do have to go near there for any reason, try knowing where the killer is before going for it and try running as far away from it as possible if it turns into a chase. Unfortunately, once someone is in the basement, it is extremely hard to get out when playing against Leatherface. If you are attempting a basement rescue, try luring the killer away and then have somebody else enter the basement to unhook the survivor. Finally, if Leatherface is charging up his chainsaw when you are in the basement, go behind the hook and juke him around it. After the chainsaw runs down, you have about 2 seconds to unhook the trapped survivor and make a run for it. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any perks or tricks that would help you when it came to this, but I hope my limited tips could help away.

@Xboned Thanks :) He actually wasn't full on face camping, he went up the stairs each time. But everytime he did there was a survivor waiting on the other side of the shack who then decided to run in. This repeated until they were all down or on hooks.
He could have been camping the top of the stairs for all I know but my team mates definitely could have waited a little while before coming down... ๐ They were pretty quick coming to get me, Kindred deffo would have helped.

@Pugpablo123 Thanks, yeah it was very start of the map so I wasn't aware of where I was. In fact I was very close to wiggling off - he definitely missed a few hooks to get me there. If I was paying more attention to where he was carrying me I would have wiggled a bit quicker, may have even escaped ๐

Yeah, that's how his snowball works. The first one to get hooked is really just bait for the altruists. Some teams adapt, but there's a lot that don't. It's kind of a scummy playstyle but it's so close to his cinematic origins that I have trouble fully disowning it. One straggler after another plods into the Sawyer house, oblivious to the threat waiting for them.
In the game you had, it's possible that he might have been lured away by gens popping. Difficult to tell. He's a bit like an endgame Myers build in that sense, he relies on the survivors not realizing how much of a danger he really is. Once they learn his game, he loses a lot of power.

This is why pepple if you're unhooking and kindred is good if you are playing solo. Even though I've had folks, while using kindred, come try and save me after the first one gets hit they learn.
I've also used pebble or blowing up a gen etc. to try and distract killers. It works about 30% of the time *if all players work together. Usually when it does they are downed again but far enough from the basement that we can try again to save them.
Now playing with Demo and putting a portal in the basement makes kindred near useless. Someone on here mentioned putting it there and I'm loving it!
I've also found folks running WGLF tend to be the most aggressive with trying unsafe hooks even with a perk like kindred on.
It also doesn't benefit anyone blood point wise because the matches end so quickly. Then again I'm good with matches like that being done quick so I can move on to the next.

If survivor is in the basement with LF nearby he is gone.
I mean, you are literally going against the killer that has an INSTA DOWN that is as wide as the basement stairs. Survivor in the basement may escape with BT but the saver will go down.

Basement Bubba is incredibly powerful, so don't blame yourself for getting killed by him. Leatherface is probably one of the more underrated killers, as with the right build he is god-tier with little to no skill.

Yep. There's no winning that exchange if the Leatherface can walk and chew gum at the same time. There's just... no... way. Basement showdowns play to all of his strengths while avoiding his main weakness, being that he's kinda slow and unwieldy by default.
It's a strategy that takes very little real skill to execute, but can drop a whole team of even the most experienced survivors if they get cocky. Which is probably a big part of the reason for it being such a thing, you can outplay people who are actually better than you if they underestimate you. There are no loops on those stairs, flashlights won't save you, etc.
... this is actually making me want to do a few Bubba games, damn it.

Devs already responded to that a while back.
Basement is designed for killer to have an advantage.
If most experienced survivors all go down to it because they got cocky... it's on them on MASSIVE MISPLAY and on killer to capitalize on that which is pretty much killer 101.
Do you want to say that killer doesn't deserve his kills he got from outmanouvering survivors? What about situation when you hide in a corner and LF holds you there while he charges his chainsaw and downs you?

Yeah...it's pretty fun when survivors decide to just potato when you are playing leatherface. XD
And pretty awful when you're the guy on the hook ๐

There appears to be some miscommunication here.
I was pointing out why the strategy works and why it has an enduring popularity.

Easy simple solution from Basement extraordinaire, me, Hat Creature/Dude.
Don't go into the Basement
No, not even to save
If you're going against Bubba, Trapper, Freddy, Demo, and Hag don't go for it unless you're confident that the Killer is incompetent and bad.
For Bubba there is no defense unless you have MoM as in this situation you can probably get it to work and BT. If you don't have those against a Basement Bubba just don't go for the save and hope no one comes to save you. As long as you are down there you make him weaker, as long as no one goes to save you then he has no power. Once you die then he has a harder time getting back down there with someone else.
EDIT---The Basement is my specialty because it's my favorite playstyle.
