The new lighting in the lobby is very terrible.
Developers, the new lobby lighting is just awful. Return the old, dark lighting to the lobby before the Chinese New Year.

The lighting isn't new. It's been like this for nearly a year.
What's wrong with the lighting though? It's just light. I don't see the difference either way.

That lighting was actually changed due to popular demand. Many people liked the new lighting more than the old, so we kept it. It's not exactly impossible to bring it back, but it wouldn't be something we'd consider doing unless there was boatloads of support. Some are going to like one more than the other, and there's not really a clear favourite.

I hate how BHVR caved in to the "popular demand" of it last year.
Sadly it seems a lot of people prefer the bright look, which baffles me to no end.

But what about the atmosphere of the game? As for me, the old lighting fits much better into the game than the current one. Maybe you still bring it back to the game? Pleeeeaaaase!

Because the current lighting looks terribly not natural, not at all suitable for this game. Well, absolutely. Look, people are asking for a return. They like the old lighting. It will be pleasant for the old, but unusual for beginners.

I want Horror how is anything scary with a huge bright LED light on it..?
If this was classified as a Survival Horror game it should be dark not bright as if it was daylight, heck the name says Dead by Daylight not Dead in Daylight.
The Bright musty yellow hurts my eyes on Coldwind, especially with all the corn. It makes the map unbearable. Can you at least make it a tiny bit darker? Like a Sunrise type of dark..?

Let's talk about the elephant in the room.
A lot of people wanted a lighter gamer because killers couldn't find survivors in the shadows.
This is the main reason you aren't going to see the return to the old lighting.

We don’t need the old lighting in the game itself (it would be better if they returned), but we need the old lighting in the lobby of the game, because this yellow color (forgive me for the expression - the color of urine) spoils almost everything.

All I have known is the yellow coloring but the darker MENU looks so much more appealing.

Why not add an option to bring the old lighting back?Some people would like to taste the old dbd visuals and real horror stuff because they werent around back in 2016 and some of us, OG players want to go back in time to remind ourselves of how the game used to look.

Part of it is because killers have a tougher time finding blendettes with darker lighting... maybe they should make it so you can choose which lighting you like. After all, the killer's are supposed to have enhanced senses, so they should be able to see better then survivors...

I played during the times where lighting was darker, and I never had problems finding people. Thats because we had a functional sound system back then. I couldnt see that P3 Claudette in the bush, but I could hear her. Which was enough for me.
As killer I would gladly switch back to the darker game, it looked so much better, if we return to the better sound alongside with.

Same here, I never felt it too hard to find anyone because you could hear them breathing and rustling around.
Agreed. I would do anything for the game to be more dark and gloomy.

Will there ever be an option to revert back to the old lighting? Like maybe a separate graphic setting that pertains to lighting with two options: classic and current. Despite a lot of people liking the new lighting I can say that people would equally be as happy with the old lighting because it fit the game a lot better and made things look better.

A good & simple solution for this would be to add a lighting preference in the Settings.

I 100% did not buy the silver Ghostface mask because it looks like absolute garbage in the menu lighting, and can't be 'tested' anywhere else.

It doesn't really bother me honestly. That small minor change means nothing in the grand scheme of things, I can still play regardless...

This thread isn't by any means representative of the entire player base. The very title of the thread creates a bias. More people that agree with the premise are likely to click the thread.

This seems like the best solution. Just put an option in the settings for lobby lighting and put in a slider. Let the player decide how much or little lighting there is in their lobby. It's not like it effects the game. Maybe disable the lighting options during special events if you want to create a specific atmosphere.
