Patch 3.2.1 -- Changes, why?

If I play in a SWF group, I’m the highest ranked survivor since I’m at Rank 1. I don’t care about getting matched with red rank killers, I just don’t want to wait an eternity for matches. I rarely see red rank killers. Even when I play solo I get matches with Rank 9-15 survivors/killers a majority of the time.

Maybe the rank 1 survivor should work a bit harder to protect the noobs. Run MoM and tank its, run object to try to get the attention of the killer, run a perk that helps with loops.
I play both survivor and killer just about equally. My swf has a relatively new player (rank 16), we'll live. Like I've said before my one and only worry is that at rank 1 I don't want a lack of rank 1 killers make the lobby times insane. If they're quick enough that's fine by me.

Interesting false equivalency you got there buddy.

The biggest problem with the swf update is that even though you can protect your new friend it wouldn't matter due to the fact the killer would recognize this and do 1 of 2 things tunnel the person protecting to get them out of the way and then plow through the rest with little to no care about how new they are or they will ignore the protector and go for the easy kills leaving the high rank person alone for the final kill. Either way in the end new survivors coming especially the ST ones are going to dislike the game and leave.
1 -
I've seen more killers who will go easy on struggling survivors than I've seen survivors willing to go easy on struggling killers. And I'm one of those killers that'll go easy on survivors who are obviously below my skill level (which is already really low, btw).

"you also have the ability to protect them. You can help them survive and teach them things as they play. A new killer is alone- they don't have anyone to help them out when they mess up or tell them what they should be doing."
Against a rank 1 if you are wasting your time throwing yourself at a killer to protect another player then you're an anchor to the whole match and good luck against billy nurse or spirit who will slug you all faster then you can take a breath.
One thing is certain, I'm extremely hesitant to invite lower level friends back to the game.

Well I have given a killer that I can tell is having a hard time I let them get hooks free hits and what not. I understand new people on both sides and I play both side I help new survivors when I see them really falling behind but at the same point swf is just that swf no matter how much I can tell my team what to do they can't execute it not to mention I cant always take the chase over for them or do their skill checks for them for most they there to play with friend who has talked the game up to them they just want to have fun. All I was getting at is survivors takes a lot more to accomplish killer has the power roll and they will get hooks here and there and they may even kill a couple but they can get a survivor who new gets bullied camped or tunneled for more than a couple games will uninstall.

Literally bought an alt account now to play with my low rank friends, y'all are emphasizing on "fairness to killer" but your not recognizing that high rank survivors arnt going to be able to shake a low rank killer which isn't fun for the team.. balance would be having some sort of multiplier for swf... Like if like lower the average rank by x% for each swf in lobby... Not be lazy and take the highest rank... Cause my rank 2 and 500+ hours playing with rank 18-20 isn't going to be fun and discourages me from playing with my friend which is opposite of what should happen...
Also, demos reach when breaking the pallet is much further then Billy... So you often get hit when he breaks through, where Billy just breaks the pallet.. which makes it op

I would suggest taking new players into KYF to teach them a bit about looping, let them practice Ruin and DS skill checks.
I've played SWF a few times, and even when we got our asses stomped into the ground, it was still more fun than when I get stomped into the ground as killer, 'cause as killer I'm all alone, there's no one to chat with or relieve any of that pressure. Friends can share the weight and help each other. Meanwhile, an inexperienced killer can get run around for five gens by one experienced survivor.
Playing solo survivor sucks. Playing killer can be stressful. Playing SWF is where the game gets the most comfy.

Imagine complaining about good changes.

I'm okay with the Demogorgon's changes, but the new matchmaking system sucks. The problem with the former one is that it wasn't the way they stated. I was playing SWF with team's average rank between 7-10, but instead of getting killers in that range, it was potatoes with rank 20 all the time. But with the new system we gotta wait 15min to get a match that's gonna last 2min, because if we have a rank 1 in the team we got destroyed, even playing coordinated.
So how is this new system fair to SWF? And I'm asking this as a 50/50 survivor/killer player, it's very boring destroying non balanced SWF teams in the first minutes.

Why would you be hesitant at inviting them back? If they are unaware that teaming with you will mean going against a higher level killer then inform them and let them decide what they want.
They can play solo, team with others closer in rank to them, or team with you and accept they will be against higher level killers. What is so bad about that?
Low rank survivors can CHOOSE who they team up with which in extension influences what rank the killer will be. Killers have never had this privilege and still cannot choose what rank the survivors will be. It doesn't matter what the swf teams intentions were.

Do you run in a straight line? You like having your own fun?

the changes are good and will stay. deal with it kids.

@Peanits I disagree that High Rank survivors should be in charge or protecting/teaching newbie survivors. Both Newbie survivors AND killers are capable of learning at the same pace. When I was learning Survivor most of it I learned from trial/error, not from friends teaching me. When I was learning killer, I learned by the things I learned from playing as a survivor (to think like they do) and from watching others play killer on stream.
If you have the majority as low ranks and 1 as a red rank...and end up with a rank 1 killer. Are you seriously saying that it is not any more unfair than it was previously?
It's sad that it took one "hypothetical" situation (The survivors who want to bully) for this to screw new survivors who just want to play with their friends without bullying. I mean, if you're going based on "possible scenarios" let's add the killers who purposely derank to only face new/inexperienced survivors.
At the very least you could have made the matches average the rank if most are low ranks.

I love the new changes

Wow

It's another buff for killers, this time against SWF. With some luck someday they'll do something for survivors.
0 -
It was based on average from what the patchnotes state.... and this grouping to bully has been going on for years, it's not just a "hypothetical scenario".
0 -
@Bravo0413 The reason I quoted it is because it doesn't happen in every match where a SWF group is present.
And as I said before... Survivors get bullied all the time too. Let's not pretend like this only happens on one side... (with many killers purposely deranking so that they can bully/camp inexperienced survivors) IF that is the basis of the change.
0 -
Survivors dont get bullied all the time xD ... this has been pointed out before, as a survivor you have the choice to play with who ever you want or play alone.... you can KYF as well to learn the game before going in.... KYF imo isnt taken advantage enough by players and that's unfortunate on their part but to each their own.
0 -
If Survivors want to learn, have them learn by working their way from the ground up. Then they will get closer to your level.
0 -
@Bravo0413 My point is, it should not be about "Who gets bullied more than who"... it should be about balance. Having 3 rank 20s and a rank 4 , and a rank 1 killer isn't balanced IMO.
You are looking at it from the lense of "killers get bullied more than survivors"... when "being bullied" in this game has become a word that just gets thrown around, when it has an actual meaning in the real world.
@TAG How exactly is this making them learn from the ground up though? Lol
Most survivors (As stated before) learn from trial/error even when you have a friend telling you about how "horrible Shelter Woods is for survivors..." most people forget things.
What this change does is just flip the thing they were trying to avoid for killers, just now onto newbie survivors.
0 -
I mean that they should play at their own ranks and work their way up.
1 -
@TAG Which most already do, but they also wanna play with their friends.
All I'm saying is they didn't meet in the middle with this change.
0 -
Yes but its also their choice to group up with who they want.... if they know (which they should be able to read patchnotes) how matchmaking works, then they know that they're going to be getting a killer who knows what's going on.... which that's what it is mainly about........ survivors going against killers that know what their doing.
But they main point is that survivors have the choice....... and 9x out of 10 the choice was to have the noobie invite the friend or friends who have 100s or 1000s of hours in the game to their lobby so they can "learn".
0 -
@Bravo0413 Killers already knew they were going up against SWF, so how is that different?
Just because it's a choice doesn't mean it's a balanced system.
(Going to throw in the same example used before) You have 3 rank 20 survivors 1 rank 4 survivor, game gives you a rank 1 killer....
Why not... You have 3 rank 20 survivors, 1 rank 4 survivor, game gives you a rank 9 killer?
My argument is it should be based on high rank but also make it average if the majority are lower rank.
0 -
Honestly I think that SWF change is just gonna incentivise people to derank even more.
0 -
They are still allowed to. Now they have to do so at their own peril.
A Rank 9 Killer going up against a Rank 4 Survivor and 3 Rank 20s sounds no better than a Rank 4 Killer going up against a Rank 4 Survivor and 3 Rank 20s from a balance perspective. At least with this system, a Rank 9 Killer won't have to worry nearly as much about going up against Survivors way higher rank than them.
0 -
@TAG Unless they are deranking which is what this encourages.
To each their own, but I don't agree with your claim that this is somehow more balanced than how it was before. So Ima just leave it at that. Good luck.
0 -
Punish excessive de-ranking. Easy.
1 -
@TAG Killing yourself on hook isn't punishable.
0 -
Honestly, i don't understand your swf point. Swf is broken, and that comes from a main survivors point of view. Matchmaking them with a lower rank killer makes sense because of the enormous advantage speaking offers
0 -
No, but a sharp drop in rank that is far, far faster than what would be considered normal that could only really be done if someone is deliberately screwing over their own team certainly could be.
0 -
@TAG keyword "Could".
Currently it isn't punishable.
0 -
Well, then we have a solution, don't we?
0 -
@TAG That's not a solution to a broken system.
Deranking being encouraged isn't a solution. Killing yourself on hook will never be a reason to punish people, when they barely do it for people who dc.
Making it equally balanced for both the newbie Killer AND Survivor experience is the solution.
0 -
Swf isnt balanced in general, it gives all survivors a buff......if the noobie doesnt wanna go against a more experienced opponent maybe they should try the game solo a bit.... how is that bad?..
0 -
It absolutely is. If the problem is that people deliberately de-rank a bunch, the solution is to punish people who do that. The fact that it fixes a potential workaround to the SWF thing is a bonus.
1 -
@TAG So a person who just got the game yesterday who only wanted to play with their friends is going up against someone who has 2k hours, and you don't see it as a problem?
I want balance for both. I don't wanna play against a rank 20 killer just as much as I don't want my new friend to play against a rank 1 killer.
@Bravo0413 SWF not being balanced is subjective at this point.
0 -
Not if they deliberately choose to do so. Now if they DIDN'T have the choice to not play against an opponent with 2k hours, that would be a problem.
If you don't want your new friend to play against a Rank 1 Killer, don't team up with them as a Rank 1 Survivor.
0 -
@TAG Lol ok, so I got my new friend to play the game, but they just can't play it with me until they reach my level. Gotcha.
What a brilliant idea.
0 -
Your friend can absolutely still play with you immediately if they want. Just maybe advise them to play at their own level first so they can improve and maybe stand a better chance when you decide to throw them into the deep end when they are still at a lower rank.
0 -
I can make the argument that new players/survivors getting to see mind games and what red rank killers do right away would be a good thing for them... if they played with their red rank friends and then played at their own rank theyd notice the difference in skill...
Swf has never been balanced.
0 -
Andalso ou have to find other 2 survs that want to play with you. I wrote this in other post, someone will be fired in BHVR. This will remove too many people from the game.
1 -
Shouldn't be a problem if the SWF ranks are close enough.
0 -
@TAG No. My friend has to deal with the same issue the lowbie killer had to deal with.
Killers had a choice before as well, doesn't mean the system didn't need changing.
0 -
Not if your friend just starts playing against low ranks and works their way up.
What was the choice the killer had?
0 -
The killer plays against 2 surv with a low rank a 2 survs with a high rank. This is by far more fair than a good rank killer playing to 4k against them.
If the game is balance with 4 survs vs 1 killer in the same rank, you can't escape with 2 bad survs in your group. I play only 1 game with this kind of mates, and it was the last one. I'm sorry for swf, and I'm sorry for this game

Imagine being a new killer and meet 3 2,500 hours survivors
