Why does Thrill of the hunt announce itself?

Seriously, I can't figure this one out. Especially with all the talk about SWF (which I typically have absolutely no issue with).

but with even a semi-competent group all they have to do is touch a totem and they are immediately aware...

"oh, this guy is running thrill of the hunt, we need to coordinate and break multiple totems at the same time."

and tada!! perk is immediately made worthless.

why is this a thing? why does it need to tell them anything at all?

Even if it wouldn't annouce itself, you still break totems slower. And by this survivors will know that you are running this perk.

okay, so experienced players will be able to determine it, so why offer the information as an immediate identification?

at least them determining it through the extended cleansing time would take extra time to identify instead of a single tap.

I still question why thrill of the hunt is a hex totem to begin with.

It kinda destroys the purpose of this as it's meant to protect your hex totems when it itself can very easily be broken whilst it the killer is preoccupied because it's a hex perk.

Especially considering I can't tell two random totems apart I end up spending more time protecting thrill of the hunt then I should have to.
