Revert the way Survivors rank up

Quite a few patches ago the ranking system was changed to make it significantly harder for both sides to rank up, often requiring a player to follow a set of requirements to pip. Then the entitled survivor crew complained (was only a matter of time) and the survivor ranking difficulty was nerfed.

I play both sides and can confidently say that you have to do very little to rank up as survivor, in fact unless you stand AFK for the whole game it is very hard to depip as survivor. For killer this is not the case, especially at red and purple ranks. Prefering to play a range of different killers I have often had games where I have played "fairly" with at least 7 hooks and still managed to depip despite scoring well in generator defense. Meanwhile as survivor I consistently double pip or nearly double pip even against skilled killers.

So what am I getting at? Well for people who play in smaller regions like myself (Oceania) the balance between high rank killers and survivors is very skewed and results in long wait times which in turn can frustrate people and cause them to play as some would deem "unfairly".

Another thing that the new ranking system for killer brought is the requirements for a certain number of survivors to be hooked in order for a killer to score well in the appropriate category. This means that when a survivor disconnects during a game (which lets face it is mostly due to being a sore loser/troll) the killer is punished and loses the opportunity to score points in that category, thus making it nigh impossible to dual pip. This also plays heavily into the fact that survivors always determine the outcome of the game, but that is a discussion for another time.

I know this may fall on ignorant people and with the majority of the player base consisting of survivors alot of you may agree with me, but is it really satisfying not having to do much to rank up? Survivors already get rewarded quite alot as it is, and I believe that is either bias on the devs part or an attempt at keeping the casual players playing. The ranking system for survivor doesn't have to completely go back to how it was originally changed to, but it definetly needs to be made to make it harder to pip, easier to depip and needs to punish survivors who do very little for the team more than it currently does.

I wish it was reworked so that survivors could still make a major impact without having to do everything - because doing everything sometimes is literally impossible, but if you’re good at gens or totems then I would say you can make a meaningful tribute to the team. It also would be nice if STEALTH was as rewarding a tactic as RUN AND GUN. Kudos to the player that actually plays and still avoids an active killer.

But tbh killers are the ones that need their pipping requirements reworked more. Say what you will about survivor, at least survivor adepts are still achievable.

I find it to be the opposite, I'm a rank 1 killer mainly with Wraith lmao. And i didn't get further than rank 3-4 as survivor since they made it harder to pip in red ranks. This might be because im playing solo survivor 90% of time. If they made it even harder to pip for survivors we will see huge queue times for killer in red ranks and 4 man swf every match, which is horrible because solo survivors would just dream about getting to red ranks.

How to get people to disregard the rest of your post 101

Maybe it was not complaints from survivors but the fact that they need sufficient survivors in red ranks so that the red rank killers still get lobbies in a reasonable time.

I did absolutely like the hard pipping from my survivor POV and I may get back to playing survivor if they reintroduce it. At that time I had stellar teammates in the green ranks most of the time without having to pip up to ranks where killers start with those "optimal strategies" tunneling, camping and slugging, because you'd look at a black pip most of the time.

As for the number of hooks for Iri Devout, they said they had another condition on it because Iri Devout was more common than intended. The other way to resolve the situation would have been to nerf killers/buff survivors so that killers get 4ks less often. You would have preferred that?

And finally, survivors determining the killer's emblems, well this goes both ways, I don't know how often I looked at an empty Benevolent emblem because of camping and tunneling killers. In particular killers like Wraith, Hag and Freddy with his latest buff are excellent at robbing survivors of emblems for reasons out of their control.

By accurately referencing the history of the game?

Survivors did their usual thing of raining complaints during the PTB for the emblem system, even had it made so killers could scarcely do anything to avoid being penalised for being near the hook(due to it relying on the ever-unreliable chase-detection system) and they themselves got rewarded for harassing the killer for the whole match rather than for specific tasks as it was originally intended. Funny how the devs do these U-turns on their intended design decisions only for the benefit of survivors. Every single iteration of the ranking system has been a nakedly unfair mess for killers.

Oh also once again: if a survivor gets caught in a trap during a chase, Trapper actually gets penalised and the game registers this as Trapper having lost the chase and the survivor winning it.

I don't even know if it's possible to do on an automated region-by-region basis but I feel matchmaking should either be relaxed in regions with lower player counts/an imbalance of killers and survivors. Either immediately upon search, or simply speed up the already existing mechanic where it widens the acceptable rank range the longer you've searched.

I'm not talking rank 1 vs rank 20, but just increase the range of rank compositions it considers acceptable. Assuming there's not some ascended way to abuse it intentionally of course.
