Is it possible for Hex: Ruin to be reworked and be balanced?
Comments
-
Hex: Ruin has basically two modes: 1. god mode, where the survivors can't find the totem and get 0 gens done, and 2. useless mode, where the survivors power through it or the totem is cleansed within the first 30 seconds of the match.
That's the balance. The devs have created other perks that are attempts at more balanced, reliable game-slowers, like Corrupt Intervention. What perks you prefer as killer is entirely based on personal preference and gameplay style. What perks you find most bothersome as a survivor is going to change as you play and get more experience.

The option: Ruin is already balanced and doesnt need a rework is not there. Why?

Ruin should be removed entirely
Because it's not.

Yes
Ruin always feels like a waste of a perk slot because of RNG

Yes
Anything can be reworked to become balanced, although ruin is balanced, it could be reworked and remain balanced.
2 -
Yes
I wouldn't say Ruin is unbalanced as it is, more that it's just a terrible mechanic.
There's not much joy in a game you lose because people keep looking for the totem and gens never get done, but there's equally not much fun in a game where your totem is destroyed faster than you can physically walk to it.
I'd be interested to see what would happen if Ruin was removed from a totem and made into a timed debuff instead, so it's more consistent and not as much of a game decider.

No
Ruin is fine at its place, it can be removed. Eventually lower rank players will learn totem spots later on if they keep playing the game.
Since it’s a hex totem it can be removed entirely from the start, be ignored, or be destroyed mid game. So I don’t think it’s OP.
Plus it prevents survivors from genrushing which is currently an issue in DBD no matter how much of a good killer you are.
For those who are about to objectify my opinion, not everybody plays killer like gods.

Yes
I refuse to believe that there is anything that can't be turned into a balanced perk/killer/item/whatever.
The only reason to think otherwise is because you lack creativity.

Oh i understand. This is not about a discussion, its about the echo chamber. All right, i go as quietly as i can to not wake you up.
3 -
Yes
Yes it needs a rework, it does next to nothing against rank 1 survivors, and bullies new survivors. It's a necessity for high rank play if you use a standard M1 killer.

Yes
It should be base kit so killers aren't wasting a slot on a perk that will be gone as soon as the match starts. Keep it as a totem, but just make it base kit.

So R.I.P other totems?
1 -
Yes
Not necessarily.

Yes
Ruin encourages people to find it (unless they just power through it) which would make other totems found faster.

Weird thread, the perk is already balanced, it's easy to do a gen with ruin on, it just take more time if you're terrible at skillchecks ( which you should be good at at rank 1 let's be real).
I guess it could be reworked and remade balanced but what is the point of that ?

OP doesn't even elaborate on what they find unbalanced or wrong with it. Do you think it's too much for survivors to deal with because you can't gen tap or hit skill checks reliably? Do you think it gets cleansed too fast? What is even the issue in your mind?

No
Ruin is perfectly balanced imo. It slows the game down a little bit, but only for a certain amount of time since it's a Hex & can be destroyed.

Yes
As a killer main, I think it should not affect all survivors. I play survivor once in a while and even as killer I notice, when they can’t find it, it’s a definite loss for them. BUT, there are a good number of times where they’ll break it right after spawning. I think a minor nerf would be fair.

Yes
You forgot 3. Which is they don't find the totem but still win anyways because they actually have skill and can hit great skill checks.
0 -
No, that's covered under Useless mode, "the survivors power through it."
0 -
No
Or just practice to hit the skillcheck? Better do that than wasting precious time around map. Just look for totem zones when you are near gens, if not there, do the gen.

This poll is a plurium interrogationum fallacy.

No
If they nerf ruin then they need to increase gen times.
0 -
Not sure if this is the same thing, but it could also be defined as a loaded question fallacy.

No
ruin get counter by:
1- learning to hit skill check
2-finding the totem
it's rng and can be counter if you train a bit so no it's not unblanced and no it's dosen't need to be change
