Suggestion for a future Killer: The Thing

The Thing (from the 1982 movie) can be found around the forum with a few mentions, but I hoped to make a detailed case for its potential implementation as a future chapter. Hey, I registered on the forum for that exact purpose! This'll be a long one, so let's go.

The Thing would make a great stealthy killer with unique mechanics and lots of opportunities to shake up the meta. I don't think it'd be that hard to implement the Thing in DBD if there is any chance to obtain the license. The Thing would start as a bug-like creature (very low profile and possibly fast movement/small Terror Radius to aid it in avoiding detection while in its Thing form) and have the power to imitate any Survivor it has touched/hit during the match. While morphed, it would have no Terror Radius or Red Stain, but 100% movement speed, and maybe it could throw down pallets like any Survivor (so it can sabotage the Survivors' resources a la the movie, but if anyone sees it do those things, everyone figures out who the Thing is). To make it less abusable, imitating/reverting to base form should have a pretty long cooldown. Its secondary ability could be to jump and stick to the ceiling, again cutting or eliminating its terror radius like a built-in Insidious that's only usable indoors or on trees. Its attack animation while morphed could be to sprout claws like the Bennings-Thing. It could have a cool assimilation mori as well. As for the Survivors, maybe we'll get to play as MacReady (Kurt Russell)!

As for perks, I got a few ideas based on paranoia and adding secondary effects to hits (which is what the Thing does, it touches you and you get all sorts of nasty things happening to you!):

Paranoia: "Where were you, Childs?" -R.J. MacReady (Lv. 30)

Whenever the Killer hits a Survivor, Survivor voice chat is disabled for X seconds, with no notification given to the Survivors. (This perk would be nice to make SWF less powerful as well as increasing the paranoia theme from the movie, as people will have a hard time telling each other who the Thing has morphed into. This may be very powerful if the Thing is able to hit a Survivor before he is able to tell others that the Killer in the trial is the Thing, as unsuspecting Survivors may get ambushed by a Thing that appears to come to help out with the generator they're working on! It is, of course, less useful for other Killers.)

Sabotage: "Wait a minute, wait a minute, was this broken into?" -R.J. MacReady (Lv. 35)

Introduces an X% chance that a Survivor gets injured when throwing down a pallet, searching a box, starting repairs on a generator, sabotaging a hook, unhooking a Survivor, entering a locker or interacting with an object. (Self-explanatory, a risky but potentially rewarding perk for any Killer, and synergizes with Killers who are good at injuring Survivors but have trouble downing them (e.g. Legion) or Killers that have mechanics that require Survivors to interact with objects (e.g. Pig or Plague). Also very useful for the Thing itself, as wounded Survivors may become paranoid when someone comes to heal them, fearing being instantly downed by a disguised Thing. What's more, it counters gen tapping to a certain extent. The power of the perk is easily tunable by varying X, and high values must obviously be avoided lest the perk becomes too powerful.)

Assimilated Knowledge: "The ice it's buried in is a hundred thousand years old at least." -Norris (Lv. 40)

Whenever the Killer hits a Survivor, the Survivor's movement speed is decreased by X% for Y seconds. This effect is reset if the Survivor is healed or hooked. (Increases lethality for all Killers, especially 110% Killers, being similar to the Clown's power but restricted to melee range. Tremendously helps the Thing while in Imitation form due to its abysmal 100% movement speed.)

I think this Killer would make for different and dynamic gameplay. We might suddenly see people refuse to get healed or run away from other Survivors who come to their generator! While the Thing's power and perks would probably be quite powerful, it would be balanced by its 100% movement speed in Imitation form and reliance on its own perks so it has less room for meta perks.

What do you think?
