I. Love. Freddy.
It was a good Blood Hunt, I'm all hunted out. I've gotten all my baby killers to a semi-playable state, I'm back in the purple/green ranks after not having played much at all since reset, and I have a new favorite killer.
After spamming dozens of Doctor games just for the blood points, I started messing around. Played a game with Myers... kind of typical. Painfully slow early game with a brutal climax right at the end. I tried Legion, had fun stabbing people but still felt like it was a little weird to be less lethal with my power up.
Then came Freddy. It was just on a whim, I don't even have BBQ on him, but wow. After so many games being helplessly looped as the plodding Doctor, being able to teleport around the map and trap every loop I run into is amazing. This combination of mobility and control is highly addictive.
To top it off, he's even better at grinding. Each match, I maxed out BP in every category without even trying. Once I get BBQ on him and max it out, I think a lot of my issues with the game's grind will be greatly lessened. I finally have a killer that's fun to play and efficient for making bank. I couldn't be happier.
I've been complaining a lot about this game around here lately, and there were a few moments during today's Doctor games when I thought I might just throw in the towel, but I actually feel excited to play again. I originally planned to take a long break after the Blood Hunt, but I think I'll be right back at it again tomorrow.
TL;DR: Cranky semi-noob finds new main, discovers the joy of murder all over again.

He is so good now, like every game I have with him rank 1 even I get like 4ks 80% lmao

I've wanted to play a high-tier character that isn't Nurse, Spirit, or Billy for a long time now. People seem mixed about where Freddy falls on the tier ranking, but to me he is easily S-tier. He's the only M1 killer that feels genuinely strategic in a match, like I can actively adapt to and play against whatever the survivors are trying to do.
I was happy with Myers for a while, but getting out of the scrub ranks led me to encounter survivors who weren't so easy to sneak up on. His slow start's a bit rough when you can't rely on people being oblivious enough to let you yank them off gens in the first couple minutes.
It doesn't hurt that I love Robert Englund and, even if Craven < Carpenter imho when it comes to cinematography, I love Freddy as a character. He's the only classic slasher that's really full of personality.

Yea, he is top 5 for me, I use to be a billy main but the way Freddy can slow down the game I'd put him in front of Billy even. He is so fun and so strong

So, when are you gonna propose him 😂 ? ( I hope this doesn't offense you ).

Oh, once I break the news to Doctor that he's no longer my #1 BP farmer.
I'm not sure how well he'll take it... he'll probably be shocked. 😋

Love how you even changed your PFP. Now you know why I'm so nuts about him. got to download the new DLC this weekend and swapped out ruin for surge...feelsgoodman

Oh yeah, I'm all in on this. I've never really had a main before, Doctor is my most played but it's just because he gets lots of BP and I needed him at 35 for M&A on Myers. Myers himself can be a lot of fun but he is just so... damn.... slow.
I feel like a truly oppressive force when I play Freddy. And I no longer worry that I'll need to play Nurse or Spirit just to compete at a high level of play, which is great because I hate their gimmicks.

I would rank Freddy as bottom of the top 5 below Spirit, Nurse, Billy and Hag. Tier wise I'd say Spirit and Nurse are SS, billy is S and Hag and Freddy are A. Although I would say Hag is slightly better. Despite the fact that she can be countered by sneaking and flashlights, her teleportation in my opinion works better in chases than Freddy's snares and ends loops much quicker. And if survivors don't tread carefully she will destroy them easily.

I was one of the people pushing back against the Freddy redesign because i really loved his old dream mechanics and infinite wall hacks. But man, new Freddy is greeeeeeeeeeat. I just spent the entire Blood Hunt dumping a ton of BP into him, and getting him topped off with all unlocked perks (which, for me, is currently 59 of 63 killer perks). He's now my second killer after Spirit who is completely "caught up" in this way.

I hear ya. I was also SUPER iffy on the rework when it was first shown. "You mean to tell me his snares are like Clown's bottles? Great... so hes gonna be trash." Im so glad I was wrong. Currently, I have both him and Myers with full perk lists. Hoping to eventually do the same to the other killers... I tried replacing ruin with surge on him this weekend...not bad.

Congratulations on finding your trapper. (Which is my killer that I just really enjoy playing)

Myers is one of those killers that I desperately want to enjoy, but he's very feast-or-famine -- either you snowball really hard, or you completely fall on your face. The thing that I love about Freddy (and Spirit) is that they are pure, 100%, highly mobile "relentless pursuit" killers who don't have to spend time "doing stuff" to prepare (Trapper has to pick up/set traps, Myers has to spend time stalking, Clown has to reload his bottles, etc.). Hillbilly is next on my list of killers to catch up with all perks, and then I think I will have my "mains" rotation finished.
To your point about Freddy: Yeah, he basically just replaces Clown's power set wholesale. He's so much fun.

For Myers, I like using the green glass shard addon, which gives you 5 seconds of aura reading whenever you stalk someone for 1 second. Doing this will let you screw with people around junglegyms that let you break LOS. I end up stalking for the aura reading so much, the T3 kinda gets ACCIDENTALLY prepared.

Respect for that, Trapper takes the biggest brain of all imho.
That's exactly what I love about Freddy. He doesn't have one single overpowering tool, he has multiple tools -- each of which alone wouldn't be enough to turn a match, but they combine to give him unrivaled adaptability. There's no phase of the match where's he weak, no spot on the map is safe. He can come at you from any direction at any time.
By contrast, I feel like all the killers you listed are reliant on survivor mistakes. In a way, it feels like being required to ask for permission. Freddy doesn't ask, Freddy just takes.

Interesting... I've always wondered about how useful that add-on would be in practice. I'll have to give it a try sometime. Now that I've got some real BPs going, I'll be less miserly with my consumables.

Any time You can break LOS at a loop, just wait for afew seconds... then strike. They'll predict that youll come around the corner immediately. Waiting even 2 seconds will make them start to second guess and youll know what side theyre leaning close to be able to score a hit. I do alot of my plays in T2 without really relying on the T3 instadowns. Playing like this though... you'll still get your T3, you just sort of get it as a biproduct.
