I’m pretty excited to see what goes on with the “battle pass,” for dbd,
any idea when they will release it or have any updates regarding it?

Archives/Rifts are coming in the mid-season patch, according to the most recent developer update.

The developer update didn't mention Rifts only Archives.

I think the two go hand-in-hand, yeah? Aren't they part of the same system?

No they're different Archives are lore rewards/challenges and charms.
Rifts are a separate thing like a battle pass with a free section and a paid with unlockable cosmetics.
They could release at the same time but the dev update didn't mention them/confirm for PTB is all i was saying.

Yeah the archives and rifts are pretty much tied together. The only difference is that the archives are permanent, while the rifts are temporary for the 3 month period until the next Archive arrives.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm glad thats the case.
I wasn't sure due to the wording on the dev update in the past Rift and Archives were separated.
Like on the roadmap it says new rift/new archive.

Will the battle pass or any of its parts be in the PTB for testing alongside the Archives, or will it come out with the patch without external testing?

@SpaceCoconut If the Rift is like the Battlepasses in other games, then it doesn't need testing. It's simply an additional XP track gained through normal play. Reach Level X on the track and get Y cosmetic or item.
Unless they are doing something outside of the industry norm with them, there's really nothing to test.
