Why are some killer mains in denial of camping/tunneling?
When you can win by just tunneling and camping, it clearly shows that rank doesn't mean anything anymore. You can still pip so easily as killer/survivor, no wonder the matchmaking is so bad.
Edit: Love how people fell for the bait.

when you are incapable of doing gens when a killer doesn't leave the hook you have not a soul to blame but yourself
if you hit a killer with 2 DS and still lose? that's just inexcusably poor play from you and your team.
43 -
Because CaMpInG iS a LeGiT sTrAtEgY apparently. People love to victimize themselves and pretend like most killers are so weak that they can't get kills without camping.
16 -
You clearly are in rank 15 if you have this mindset, they camped the hook with the remaining 3 generators.
4 -
"DS means you camped"
It's the perk that does everything, hahaha @_@
5 -
Yeah exactly, who cares about the one guy on your team. Let his experience get tarnished, because I mean who cares lol. Maybe next time he’ll learn to loop like how we expect everyone at every rank to play.
4 -
Camping and tunneling are legitimate strategies. There's just no other explanation. Do gens.
9 -
I forgot how killer sided the forums could be. According to the majority, the killer can do anything without consequences.
17 -
DS would mean he tunneled not camped, no?
1 -
that's a killer who will never make it past green ranks camping
2 -
"I guess you're all the kids trying to be try hard like all the ######### let's players."
The irony of that statement...
4 -
that's even less of an excuse, you should be able to do 3 gens in 120 seconds, if you and your team is incapable of holding M1, you are the bad ones here
6 -
bad players lose the game
all survivors need to know how to do is loop, if you can't you're not good at the game and deserve to lose
that's just the way video games go
2 -
you don't have to be good at looping to be good at the game
3 -
I wish 3/4 of my team could push towards 20k when the killer is apparently hardcamping someone :(
0 -
Cause some Killers are like me and don't do either one. Hell I don't even Slug half the time.
1 -
if you can't extend chases you are going to win less, that's just the truth
0 -
So, we add this rule in the book or not ?
10 -
rulebook hehe funny original joke
9 -
IF the Killer camps, do gens. If he tunnels, do gens. Tunneling is a great strategy, very similar to rushing through gens. You cannot punish players for doing their objective.
As for camping, there is a time and a place. It seems like YOU messaged HIM after the game. DS can hit people that don't tunnel. It has nothing to do with camping.
7 -
because camping is an extremely weak strategy that, if you would just do generators, leaves the killer with 1, MAX 2 kills.
if a killer wins by camping, the survivors played poorly and allowed him to win.
also, i feel like many dont quite understand the difference between "camping" and "hook defense".
just to clarify:
camping = the killer staying close to the hook, even though there is no proof of anyone around and therefore they just try to secure the kill.
-> the survivors do gens and the killer loses the game, as they gave up all their pressure on the team.
hook defense = the killer knowing someone is around and therefore staying to defend the prey. here an example of one of my latest games: i play ghostface and down 2 survivors. one gets hooked, then i pick up the other one, hook them and while leaving the area i spot scratchmarks at a tree next to the guy i hooked first. i go back and find a nea, trying to rescue him. i ended the game with a 4k and got called a "camper" in end chat, even though i in fact did not camp, but just defend the hook.
-> the killer gains a benefit from staying around the hook, while also having a legitimate reason for it, and in fact increased their pressure on the team.
also, some killers were designed to defend the hook.
you cant really blame me for playing out the killers main strength, thats just using the killers power optimally. prime example: leatherface. he sucks at chasing, he sucks at tracking, he is godlike while defending his prey.
15 -
Do gens and get out.
4 -
You realize the Devs have said its a valid strat to camp? Like, it's on one of there streams. I tried to post the video but it's waiting on approval from a mod so just wait for that. But yeah, you are on that hook for 120 seconds. The others should do gens. Does it suck for you? Yes, and I am sorry for that. As a Killer main that doesn't camp, tunnel, and rarely slugs, I know that it's annoying and frustrating. But yelling about it in here changes nothing. Also, I do hope OP reported that Killer. He was out of line and rude.
3 -
I know it is a legit strat, although I really wish it wasn't. I'm just joking.
1 -
Well, you come off as really rude in alot of your posts. I'm not sure you are aware of that, and I'd like to believe you arnt. Context is very hard to read in text.
0 -
Yes, context is important, combine it with my not so perfect english and it can come across as rude sometimes.

Ok sire we add this, thanks !
2 -
the rulebook crap got old and stale pretty fast because it was overused
3 -
tunnel and camper destroy the game experience.
As a survivor this game in one moment is so boring because in red ranks especially killers just camp and tunnel you just accept the fact: you die.
So, i think survs needs more perks anti tunneling - camping.
3 -
NO worries man. That is why I asked before letting anything upset me. I try to see the good in everyone.
0 -
If they were smarter he would slug everyone that get unhooked.
0 -
Its boring for the killer when survivors just sit on gens and get them done in 4 minutes.
Should survivors stop doing gens because the killer has a bad time?
Fast gens destroy the killers game experience.
Basically one side ruining the others fun isn't a good reason for change. One sides fun is the others bad day.
7 -
Honestly, ranks have never meant anything more than how often you play the game each month.
In addition to this, any player of either role can play however they like without any consequences for as long as they do not break the rules of the game itself. When a player buys the game, they may play however they want even if it's unfun for others.
Mind you, I do not agree with camping nor do I do it myself but overall it's their option to play as they wish, just like how you can play however you wish. Ideally every player would play in a way that's fun for the other side, but when a game has thousands of players on at any given moment, that can be difficult.

The fact that people use d strike makes me tunnel more I'm currently rank 4 and the only real meta perk I use is iron will

So it really sucks people don't own up to their own actions. That said, people that don't usually feel shame about themselves/their actions. And don't want to admit it. Tunneling/camping is associated negatively and that brings out an immediate defense reaction. So, they resorted to the sort of basic (I call them) "troll" responses.
If they aren't going against the rules, I would just let it go. Let them play how they want. I wouldn't engage in it. It can suck and not be fun. I've made suggestions to make it more fun for the survivor when these things do happen. Because sometimes and I am sure you know there are fine lines to "tunneling" and "camping". Like if you are the last person alive, the killer isn't tunneling you. And if your survivor friend is circling the hook, the killer isn't camping etc. There's a delicate balance.
Also as far as DS goes, if it goes off, that does not necessarily mean you are being tunneled either. Example: 2 people left alive. One just gets unhooked, Killer goes after the person that unhooked, downs them hooks them. Sees the last survivor goes after them, downs them, picks up, Boom DS'ed. Whose the killer going to go after? The Gen? So, it going off doesn't automatically mean the person tunneled. Those are just examples, and people just a lot of the time wrongly call it what it isn't.
As far as the post is concerned, I don't see how gens are involved at all. I know the usual defense to camping is "do gens". But I think that misses the entire point of being camped, especially facecamped. Isn't fun. And everyone knows this.
If it's any consolation he may have bloodpoints, but he may not have pipped.
Also, when people are playing "bad", just remember they are still human, and maybe had a really bad game before are frustrated and stressed out. And trying to incite a response in the chat, I don't see how that helps anyone. Even if he were to completely admit to it, what would that of done for you? Would you feel like you could make fun of them or make a rude remark, or would you of been like okay take care gg? You know some "trolls", feed of inciting others, they don't care and/or won't ever care. My advice is to not get yourself worked up over it. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. Maybe roll your eyes or something and just leave to the next game. I don't think it's worth it.
Kill them with kindness :)

I have never been in denial about camping or tunneling.
I'm well aware that nearly every killer will camp/tunnel at some point in a match.
0 -
I really liked your post. I think you hit some good points here.

It ruins the game for me when i down someone and 3 gens pop even though I didn't even chase this person that long.
I have legit just let the survivors go at that point cause i just drowned under a huge wave of "Why Bother?" but didn't want to DC.
There are ways on both sides to suck all the fun outta the game. It's that simple.
3 -
That's not a bad way to look at it actually.
You reminded me, also, it can be very situational vs intentional. As in, the opportunity presents itself, not them (killers) going out of there way to do it (un fun stuff/"tunneling/camping"), and would you expect the killer to throw the game, or pretending to not see certain things. There's a fine line with this stuff sometimes. But goes to what I said earlier, just don't take it personally (even if they go out of there way etc.)
@UlvenDagoth Thanks :)

Survivors complaining about camping/tunneling is just another story of the boy who cried wolf.
2 -
I main Legion. This choice has forced me into things I don't feel good about doing cause I have to deal with not only my own power being a crippling effect but Survivors taking advantage of it. I hate even slugging honestly, but ya gotta do it sometimes. (Even more with DS) Or tunneling... i've been told I tunneled cause the guy that had BT body blocked his friend when i had STBFL so I could hit him fast enough.
1 -
Yea, I mean I am the same way. I try to play as "fair" as I can as killer, but holy moly, do I get taken advantage of. I feel forced to play a little "meaner" sometimes, and honestly, sometimes you just need too get out of your "comfort zone" to an extent.
I just try to focus on what I do, and if I feel good about what I did and how I played, than ya, doesn't matter if they want to talk trash to me about how I played.
Overall, It's definitely a learning curve and I am trying to find that "good balance" and hopefully the survivors can see that I was trying to be fair and tried making a good game experience for everyone involved.
2 -
I honestly enjoy it more when it was a back and forth battle to win. Not a stomp either way. I do too good and i'm like "Umm... what happened to yall?" (which I suppose should talk to how the Killer doesn't feel like a power role) They start gen rushing or too really good and I feel like I might as well not have even been there.
1 -
It's solo Q I guess and noone is running kindred. Only swf groups can fully punish a camping killer from the first to the last second. Solo Q is not efficient enough. I mean they can try to punish it AFTER they wasted time running to the hook just to see that the killer is hardcore patrolling, but the result will definently not be the same like in a swf group with voice coms.

Who cares about what devs say, they don't understand their own game LUL
0 -
No need to insult the devs on there own forum.
0 -
There's a lot they see that you don't see as a consumer.
Insulting the developers won't make everything better, it will just make it worse. :(
1 -
You are 100%, completely correct. I can do whatever I want (that isn't explicit hacking or cheating of course) in game without consequences. It's your job as the Survivor to punish my mistakes.
3 -
When a killer can win by camping/tunneling it shows how inexperienced the survivors are.
That's really all.
