Hex: Ruin is like old Brutal Strength

You hit the nail on the head. EVERY killer I faced ran Hex Ruin so what did I do? I started using small game to destroy totems in no time. If you keep doing the same thing as a killer, you're just setting yourself up for failure.

Dying light, thanopobia, PGTW and Ruin. Ultimate gen slow down build. And if you want to get even crazier play as freddy and use his swing chain add on.

Yeah let me just replace Ruin with Dying light, Thanatophobia, or Pop. The problem with running any of those three perks over Ruin is that they don't stop gens early game from being burned in 30 seconds by survivors that spawned together, Ruin does. At the bare minimum Ruin gives you enough time to get the ball rolling and really start the pain train and gives you time to get other slowdown perks into effect. Corrupt is probably the best ruin alternative, it lasts about as long usually and it stops gens from being popped too soon giving you more than enough time to patrol all gens.

That's not really fixing the problem. The problem is that the game goes too fast without the perk but it's bs that we have to waste a perk slot for something that should be in the game automatically.

I’ll take a perk that might last 30 seconds but can sometimes last minutes or half the match versus a perk that works for two.

Honestly the more I use ruin the more I come to despise the perk. Once I unlock pop I’m going to use that instead.
Ruin is too inconsistent and borderline useless at red ranks.

It would be good if the killer could place the totem in a spot of their choosing. Maybe they'd get 1 minute from the start of the match to put it down somewhere. It adds variety to every match and means survivors won't spawn practically right in front of it.

People bring up red ranks. Why does that matter to most players?

Absolutely. Survivors should not be allowed too spawn on top of ruin or any other hex perk, nor should hex perks be allowed too spawn next too a gen. Finding the totem should feel like an actual hunt, not just pure luck if it lives for 10 seconds.

Killers use ruin because even if you do something like drop a survivor one time you lose the entire match.
