A possible solution to the hatch stand off
So in my previous thread, it was established that there is an issue with the hatch. im not much interested in talking about whether the hatch should be there or not, im only here to talk about the mechanic itself, that allows the hatch stand off to begin with.
my solution is this:
the survivor must hold down their interactive button at the hatch for a total of maybe 6 seconds. if they succeed, the animation of the survivor jumping in, occurs and cannot be grabbed. they are safe. however, if they stop interacting with the hatch for any given time, and then resumes their interaction, then the timer is reset. so unlike generators, the progression wont stay. also being slugged while interacting stops the process.
so why do i suggest this? well.. the 6 second timer is there to avoid that the survivor can get out inbetween the killers recovery time. that way we ENTIRELY remove the capability of having a stand-off to begin with. 6 seconds is a short amount of time for the survivor too, so they can still "almost" get out instantly. the only thing they CANT do is charge towards the hatch with the killer in toe, and simply jump in if they are far enough away from being grabbed. they also cant charge through the killer between attacks and again, get through.
this scenario is avoided with my suggestion.
the survivor can still go for the hatch, or they can finish the remaining generators.
that is my suggestion, and i believe it is a fine suggestion. it doesnt have to be 6 seconds interaction time, it just needs to be enough time that if they get slugged, they cant jump out during the recovery.

Just remove the hatch. Problem solved.
