Can I get banned for using custom icons?

That kinda stuff will be reviewed case by case by EAC and the support team.

The devs do not ban directly for the use of custom icons however there is no guarantee that the anti-cheat won't pick it up as a third party system and ban you automatically. I believe the developers will not revert this ban either.

Using custom icons is an "Use at your own risk", since you are changing files from the game. @millennial_dwight Please be careful.

Use it at your own risk, at the moment there are no reports of anyone getting banned for changing the png files
But if the anticheat detects the change, it can ban you, and devs wont remove the ban

As Inji said, its a "Use at your own risk" thing since you're tampering with the game files, and this could get you EAC banned through easy anti-cheat which is out of BHVRs hands if this happens.
Since that ban is issued through Valve, it's out of BHVR'S jurisdiction once you get banned through easy anti-cheat. Even if it's within BHVR's power to remove the ban (Or they issued it), the ban will not be removed because it is considered "cheating/tampering with files" on Valves side.

The official response is, that they do not directly ban for that. So, you can, however you are risking changing and altering other files that could lead you to a ban. And if you do get banned from EAC in any way, they can't help you with it.
So it is a "use at your own risk".

No. Devs will not unban you.

No, like I said you won't be unbanned due to the ban being issued through EAC (Valves easy anti-cheat system for cheating)
And it'll consider you were cheating in the game, which is a valve issued ban and it's out of BHVRs jurisdiction at that point.
So when they say "use at your own risk" they literally mean USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

the devs will not witchhunt you for doing it and they wont ban you if they see it.
however, the easy anti cheat might detect you altering the game's files and automatically ban you.
if that is the case, the devs wont be able to unban you, you will have to contact easy anti cheat themselves and hope they unban you.
thats why the devs wont be able to unban you if you get auto banned, as it doesnt work through their system. they said you can do it if you want, though it does come with a risk where they wouldnt be able to help you.
