Rift Concerns Forgotten
Comments

Priveleged?
It's in a company's best interest to listen to their customer's concerns and try to keep them happy. That's how a company makes money. Since the internet became widespread, companies started hiring people whose sole job it is to read customer feedback online.

Thank you. I don't understand why so many ppl are upset over ppl wanting their concerns acknowledged.

No problem, I'm with you. I want to see this game go in the best possible direction. This recent PTB has me concerned. The game should center around being fun, and I'm not sure the devs understand what that means...
For the challenges, some of them look unnecessarily frustrating. Challenges shouldn't be like playing BINGO where it's out of the player's hand, like rescuing two survivors during the EGC in the same match. Survivors have no control over their teammates being hooked at a specific time. Or sacrificing multiple survivors in a particular way in the same match. If one survivor disconnects, that's it, the killer has no counter to that. Challenges should be mostly within the player's control to complete: an accomplishment, not a frustrating roll of the dice.
And completing the Rift should take about the amount of time they claimed; it shouldn't take significantly longer, but right now it looks like it does. That's an issue.
If they want to sell the Premium Pass, they need to address these issues. Otherwise, they'll lose customers' trust and they'll lose money, two things which all companies strive to avoid.

70-100 hours is just as in other games with battle pass. What's the problem? It's definitely achievable in 70 days.
Plus it's only cosmetics. Plus they will have a stream about it this Thursday

People who have done the math say otherwise. Not to mention much of the rift progression comes through challenges, some of which are ridiculous and will take numerous tries. Add on top of that you can only have one challenge active at a time.
Cosmetics matter. There is no "only cosmetics." Would you be okay with all the characters wearing potato sacks? If you are, then you can say "only cosmetics."

Here is my issue with it , and funny thing is @TragicSolitude even put the exact words in his post defending this . You cant seem to use the correct thread for the post , Feedback , Bug Reports , Or the PTB , 3 specific forums designed for your Feedback .
Why do you expect the devs to take time to read and respond to a post when you cant take the time to put it in the correct forum ? Then you get upset because they don't respond , I wouldn't if I was them , they have enough going on in those already . Why expect them to search through every single forum for people that cant or wont take the time to post in the right spots ?

They're a small company. I'm pretty sure their top priority isn't to have their development team sat reading all of your ranting posts on here. That's just not how business works. They already have a backlog of work, without hearing your complaints to pile on top of it. Perhaps the occasional constructive idea may bubble to the top, but don't expect them to be sat here diligently reading the forums.

well, they do have community managers, whos literal job is to talk to players on the forums, twitter, reddit, and other such places. they cant read everything, obviously, but its still their job to talk to the community and relay information to the team.

@Theoretical_Heart I logged into PTB when it was active and went through the Challenges, then went through all the tiers on the Rift.
In my personal opinion, the cosmetics for Killers are extremely lackluster. Plus, I don't play Nurse, Trapper, or Hag.
I don't play enough Survivor to care one ounce about those cosmetics, but none of them really grabbed me either.
As far as the charms, they're as attractive to me as the plethora of sprays in games like Overwatch. I.e., not something I care to spend time grinding to get.
All in all, except for the occasional Challenge here and there just for a few extra BP, I see myself just continuing to play DbD normally and not even bothering to worry about the Rift-- neither the paid nor free tracks.
The only other Battlepass that gave me such a "meh" feeling was in Apex Legends. I just see the Rift as lackluster at best.

I like the charms, I also like Hag and Wraith's new cosmetics. So I'm in a different boat.

@Theoretical_Heart It might also be that DbD turned me off of cosmetics a while ago. I'll spend $10 for a new hero in a MOBA, no problem.
Hell will freeze over and the second coming of Christ will occur before I spend $10 on a cosmetic skin, though. So, BHVR turned me off of worrying about them a while back. Nor would I spend Shards on them, when their cost for cosmetics is the price of a Shrine Perk, or in many cases several Shrine perks.

I get it. The cosmetics are expensive. That's part of the reason that the Rift would be appealing if it weren't so rigorous. That's a lot of content for 10 bucks. Problem is, getting the content is gonna be rough if not impossible.
But I can't talk, I'm part of the problem because I will spend 10 bucks on the skins. (I have several times)
Hell, I almost bought both the Doctor and Feng Min's new outfits today and I had to talk myself out of it cause I don't even play Doctor or Feng Min. Buying skins for GhostFace, Hag, Wraith, and Claudette is one thing (because I play them) but buying skins for characters I don't even play? I need my butt kicked.

But community managers aren't developers. Yet these threads all address the Devs.

You are fighting a losing battle. It's better to just keep it to yourself at this point and let everyone figure things out for themselves.

We've actually made a statement the day The Archives were released on the PTB. Odds are you've probably seen this around:
Our goal for our first Tome and Rift is to base our completion targets on the average daily play time of 1 hour/user, provided by our internal data. Given this, completion of The Rift and all its rewards should take roughly 70 to 80 hours of gameplay, provided players accomplish Challenges from each role.
We want everything to feel achievable within a reasonable amount of time for all players, to not feel like any reward is unfairly out of reach. We will be gathering all sorts of feedback to ensure The Archives is enjoyable for many updates to come, for all players.
You can find this statement here: https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/welcome-to-the-archives
We have also released a survey following the PTB to collect feedback on The Archives to help us fine tune it. Nobody is ignoring feedback; there would be no point to holding a PTB and getting a survey together if we didn't want to take feedback. There's a lot going on right now between The Archives, the Nurse changes, Medkit changes, etc. We aren't going to be able to respond to every post.

Thanks and sorry. If I upset you. That was not my intent.

the community managers are the ones who relay the information to the Devs. they are the middle man. we address the devs, the community managers may see it, then take it to the devs.

No they are not a small company, close to 600 employees. I am sorry but that isn't small and i am sure if i look up canadian definitions they tend to agree that anything with 250+ employees is considered big.
@Mookywolf already explained to you why community managers do exist so no point in repeating.
1 -
I don't think it's really fair to say that they're ignoring our concerns until they've actually had a chance to do something about it.
The patch isn't even out yet. It's been barely a week since the start of the PTB, and less than that since the survey and such went up. You haven't given them very much time to do something with the feedback we've given them so far.
They've put out surveys, set up specific threads dedicated to feedback, and were planning to do a dev stream yesterday just to talk about the archives (and presumably address some of our questions).
Just because they're not doing anything that's visible to us currently, doesn't mean they're not doing anything.
1 -
Yeah I didn't mean to imply that close to 600 people work on DbD, just that you share that one employer who is not to be considered small.
How many people do actually work on DBD?

I know that I won't spend a penny unless I unlock the whole rift.
I'm not one to be excited about some cosmetics like some people who get an erection when a new one comes out lol, so don't really mind if I won't get the ones from the rift.

Ditto to this, but seeing as how the rift is designed you might not even get close to finishing it ??♂️
