Add-ons and items are removed. Is the game more or less balanced?
If all Add-Ons and Items were blocked for an entire day. Would you consider the game to be more or less balanced than it currently is?
Items could be found on stage (as to make Chest Perks viable), but not equipped before a match.
Offerings, Hexes and ALL Perks would be available.
Legit curious to see what everyone thinks.

i think its balanced without items, addons and perks. i played lots of kyf with this rule setting and we had pretty good matches. imo more fun than regular games

I would think it would be more survivor sided. Basically if there's no way to slow down the game gens can be popped at extreme speeds. Some killers would be rendered useless. also you don't really need perks to loop as a survivor. I'm pretty sure someone did an experiment with a group of SWF using no perks or items and kinda destroyed high ranking killers with perks/ addons.

The problem is that almost all killers rely on their add-ons while survivors don't need items. For Billy + Huntress, removing all add-ons & items would make the game more balanced. For the rest, it would only help a bit or not at all. Depends on the killer.
Note: You also have to exclude items from chests.

Some killers completely rely on addons to be usable at all. I mention Leatherface, Doctor and Legion for example. So no, the game wouldn't be as balanced as it is now, definitly more survivor sided.

Game swings entirely in Survivor's favor.
Killer Add-Ons are significantly stronger survivor add-ons and items in general.

They didnt say no perks...

Legion add-ons SUUUCCCKKKK

balanced or not, the game would become a lot more stale

The duration addons are so good for him. Duration + Full map TR is my favourite combo on them. But yeah most addons are useless. xD

Duration and recovery speed. Only two worth it! Rulers and sketch books for DAYS!

Yeah you nerfed some killers doing this

I would say less balanced.

Whatever else it would be, it would definitely be boring.
Tic-tac-toe is balanced to a degree most games can not be with the only imbalance being in who moves first.
Balance does not equate to fun.
Fun trumps balance.

The problem with tic tac toe is not that it is "balanced"; the problem is that it is poorly designed, with the gameplay pattern being both too on-rails and too likely to end in a draw.
Fun and balance do not have to be mutually exclusive.

They don't have to be but within gaming communities they almost always are. Nothing sucks the life and fun out of games more than a cadre of ultracrepidarians.

Can you speak in layman's terms, please?

Cadre - members of a group that acts with a unified purpose.
Ultracrepidarian - a person who expresses opinions on matters outside the scope of their knowledge or expertise.
Basically a large group of armchair devs who claim to care about balance when in reality they only care about making things easier on themselves at the expense of their competition.

Addons and items as they are now are inherently unbalanced due to being consumables.
My take on this:

When it comes to competitive games, all other things being equal balance is better.
For example if in Tic tac toe the player who moves first could also guarantee a win no matter what the game would be even worse than it already is.
While balance is not the sole nor even the biggest factor in fun, it is an important method of improving how enjoyable a game is.
This often doesn't apply to single player games however for a variety of reasons.

Some killers relies on add-ons so much, that if you would remove them, said killers would become worthless. Also, the game by itself would be more boring without add-ons at all.

Ah. In that case, I disagree.
