"One has to play by the rules"--Jigsaw

Someone mentioned in a thread a couple months ago how pointless it is to have Reverse Bear Traps only activate upon completion of a generator, i.e. they are meant to slow the game down, but require the game to progress in order to work. Let's think on that for a moment. Seems counter-intuitive, right? But...this also makes no sense based upon the very concepts presented by the franchise.

In essence, there shouldn't be any alternative means of leaving, if trapped, but how do we keep this from breaking w/ the general gameplay of DBD and still fit with the franchise, without being unfair to either side?

Read on for more...this is a good one.

What if...

  • a person w/ a RBT could not be hooked,
  • RBT would begin inactive, but if the person crawled more than ~4 meters or were healed by another player (i.e. picked up) the trap would activate (the pin has been pulled, starting the timer),
  • EGC did not affect this, but did "slow" while a trap is active granting time to "win" the game within the game,
  • hatch escapes were not possible while RBT are active (same as exit gates)...
TL;DR

A player would have to be downed. A trap would be placed on them, and they would be slugged more or less (cannot be hooked). This does not count toward a hook, either. So, you don't get a "hook," but you do get slugged temporarily...

Players in this trap can choose to crawl away or someone can heal them to the injured state like normal. However, either of these two would result in the trap activating. Everything else w/ the traps stays the same (timer, etc.). The rest plays out like normal.

The catch is two-fold: a) activated traps slow the EGC just as if they were hooked or downed and crawling and b) the trap must be de-activated before allowing the player to exit either through the gates or the hatch. Jigsaw didn't leave any alternate escape routes--you must abide by the rules.

BHVR, please implement more of the Saw atmosphere and philosophies into this Chapter DLC. Not a re-work as much as a refinement of a great DLC based off a great franchise.

Thank you & have a good day!
