Tale as old as time.....Survivors stop being petty
I've noticed an ever increasing rise of players DCing more and more within this month alone than I've ever seen previously. Without fail, majority of my matches once I down a Survivor for their 2nd or 3rd Hook, they DC, or they DC when I mindgame them or outmaneuver them in a chase. While also seeing more Survivors DC right before they "Die" on hook after struggling, many mistime it...hilariously still giving me sacrifice points.
But seriously, it's just laughably bad the amount of Survivors I see DCing VS Killers and I do play both sides, often escaping or doing well or well enough wherr more escape thsn die...and in,my games as Survivor all month long...not one Killer has DC'd. Yeah yeah, Tale as Old as Time, Devs "know" of it, but this just kinda undermines matches for almost everyone involved....

Except for the Plague a lot of ppl dc when you are against: Hillbilly, Spirit or Ghostface.
Mostly bc they are some of the hardest killers to deal with.

Eh, I had some genius disconnect as I picked them up and carried them to deathhook. And all I can think is "I'm still getting the points buddy, all you did was save me a few seconds and allow me to chase your former teammates sooner. Who's the bad guy here?"
A survivor dipping out on a game screws over the other survivors, doesn't really punish the killer.
If a killer leaves, it's still a dick move, but at least everybody has the chance to get into a new game immediately....

I had someone dc because me and a teammate ran no mither :/

That's what I'm on about, it just gives me more power/advantage and kinds trivalizes matches and I usually try to toy with those that remain, but it's been more towards the middle and end of matches they DC which means I usually don't want to farm or mess around as much. It just ruins the other 2-3 Survivors fun and may even result in those players playing less or not at all...which is something I really don't want.
Edit: Also DCing/Ragequitting against a Scratch Mirror Myers baby (never ran it till then) just boggles my mind a lil xP

They really should create a "DCs in matches" category in the forums for the amount of times this thread gets posted.

So here’s a question: would you rather play at green/yellow ranks where everyone DCs or red/purple ranks where we’re all super sweaty? Not being rhetorical; genuine question.
2 -
That's an easy one, bring me your best. But I don't speak for everybody.
2 -
I usually end up high Green and jus barely into low Purple, but because of work I don't get much of a chance to play extensively and even then I don't care about pips, so much as having fun. Ive faced a fair amount of Purple players too, some that DC almost as frequently.
To answer your question I don't care where I fall into at rank, with the DCs, limited time (yay work) + queue times, I doubt Id realistically sit at Purple Ranks long enough to matter/see a difference. Especially when I play so many Killers that honestly don't fair too well VS the SWF/Sweaty groups. I also lost progress recently & even more with deranking on my Evil Incarnate attempts.
I just want fun games, plain and simple, people across all Ranks do DC, I watch plenty of YouTubers/Streamers at Purple & Red Rabks and I see DCing as an issue there too. So I honestly don't see ranking up as much of a fix for this.
1 -
DCs are way less of an issue at red ranks. All the sweaty nerds care about the pips (including me!!). Anyways, it was just supposed to be a fun question, not a solution to the overall DC problem. Which, by the way, I think has been around unpunished for far too long.

It's silly hey? I'm a Survivor main and I notice very often my Teammates are DCing. You still lose a rank AND you lose all bloodpoints. Why not just man up and take the sacrifice/mori, get your derank and at least grab a few bloodpoints for the effort?

Oh I get ya on the fun question! I'm jus a long-winded type that loves to examine and discuss various aspects of a topic :P Between a Rock n Hard place situation here...or...between a Pallet & Head On?
I just wish more people took bad games in stride! I played about half a dozen matches between our laste responses and every single one, no lie, had a person DC (and they were obvious ragequits) xP It's become a full on meme for me, since I sorta main Ghost Face.

On ps4 sometimes players just get randomly disconnected and say "no network connection" when clearly you're still have network connection..... it's quite stupid.... so dont take all disconnects as "rage quits"
3 -
I have never as Survivor or Killer been disconnected mid match the last two months. Unless BHVR announces that there is a specific Disconnect issues when I smack someone down for their second or third Hook, or Franklin's their items (evident by them trying to loop back to said item & I down em) I am and will continue to treat these as they seem.
The multiple times as Ghost Face & Scratch Mirror Myers, I mindgame em via stealth when they've been playing all match beforehand jus fine...how else can I take it? None of the DCs happen at the beginning of the match, or randomly while I'm after someone else. Trust me, unless there's something BHVR isn't telling us...these all happen when I "Got'em". Id love to give people the benefit of the doubt...but this community's reputation precedes it for me.
EDIT: Also I have yet to have a Survivor DC when I'm losing or doing poorly...evident by my 4 failed attempts at Evil Incarnate or when messing around as Leatherface on a bad map....funny how the DCs consistently have happened the past week ONLY when a match goes in my favor.

You are also in the lower ranks... DC'ing tends to happen a lot for stupid reasons... like "I think you are hacking " " or that hit was BS " "you couldn't of seen me" etc. Not that it doesn't happen in any rank, but I notice it way more in those ranks, myself.
Currently with Dedicated servers there are a rise of people that are "Dcing" that aren't even doing it intentionally, as well. So there's that.
1 -
Killers also do this a lot. They dc just before you are about to escape because they can't handle losing. They also dc over stupid things like I 360'ed someone once and they disconnected. Everyone just can't handle losing in this game. Dcing is an issue on both sides.

I play on console, so there's that to consider. As far as Ranks go, it is prevalent everywhere and true it's probably more abundant in lower Ranks, but I still argue it doesn't change that DCing is a cultural thing within this community. Lot of YouTubers/Streamers do it as part of their personality and drama and I wonder if viewers curious of the game...jus end up emulating that. Not to mention yes, the game is unstable and errors do happen, I don't deny or argue that.
Im jus specifically pointing towards the ones that ARE intentionally DCing, which in my past couple weeks, has only happened when a match/chase was in my favor. DCing unintentionally (unless there's a specifics bug we don't know that triggers this) would happen throughout a match and not solely the person I downed/hooked.

I've had survivors DC on me because I was practicing throwing hatchets as Huntress. I'm not good at it, and when I refused to farm but just kept throwing hatchets (and never managing to hit a single survivor) they disconnected. I assume it was on purpose.
I've also had survivors DC if I'm screwing around and haven't hit anyone by the time the first couple gens pop. I don't know if those were on purpose or coincidence, because I never saw those survivors once before it happened.
So, not all disconnects are when things are in their favor. I'm also on PS4, where disconnects that aren't on purpose definitely happen. I've been kicked from matches randomly.
Also, I think if a survivor dies but then leaves the match without spectating it'll sometimes show them as having disconnected. I'm not positive about that, though.

There does seem to be a concerning trend with survivors, especially in high ranks, DCing when on their death hook. Kind of an abuse of game mechanics to deny a killer their well deserved points, if you ask me.
3 -
Since these were at low ranks and assuming of the builds you ran in the pictures. You were most likely more skilled than those survivors and they weren't at their skill level so they DC'd.

I get Dc'ed against cause i'm playing Legion.
1 -
They got so mad at us. I'm like "who cares at low rank right after reset have fun" they never replied though ):
This is how you get salty people
2 -
For some reason survivors love to disconnect after you down them with a hatchet
Dont they understand disconnecting so soon puts their team at an unfair disadvantage? Thats just being a petty idiot.

It's not just survivors. Killers DC all the time. For different reasons al well. It's just the community we r. If your losing badly they cant take the L.
1 -
I've noticed that game has seemed about as stable as a new born giraffe on ice. How many DC's are because of that and how many are due to the player is hard to say.
1 -
Only thing I DC for is OoO. Cause I will attempt to END THAT PERSON. I don't wanna make the game unfun for them, even if they are using a perk I Despise.
Even if I get stomped I'll hang around and open the Exit gate for them.

Same. Some games r just horrible but still push through
0 -
No need to ruin it and not get BPs at the same time
0 -
I think survivors just seem to DC more since there are more survivors than killers.
If every player had a 5% chance of rage quitting during a match, we would see more survivor DCs purely b/c there are more survivors than killers.

ew prestige your characters please
0 -
Why? It literally does nothing other than give you another cosmetic. There is a large part of the player base that thinks it's silly to lose all your perks and such for that and "Better blood webs" which doesn't even seem to do anything.
0 -
They can do whatever they want and that "ew" is completely unnecessary anyway.

It's interesting when streamers DC, you can go check their vod and hear why they bailed, this one quit when his dead hard failed to stop me downing him.
