Because they may not know?
Fixing bugs in code is not as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Because if you are fixing something do you really know how long it will take to fix????

I play a Lot Multiplayer Games and that is the first Studio they dont say how long it takes Special 1 Day before the Event.

Because BHVR isn't a triple A company like you are most likely used to. This company is way smaller.

Again; they may not know exactly what is wrong, so they don't know how long it will take to fix. You can't say 'Well, Riot games gives an ETA' because League is different from Dead By Daylight.
They just don't know how long it will take to fix, so they don't want to give a time frame and be wrong.

Also; BHVR is not the first company to never give an ETA on a fix. Not by a long shot.

If a date was communicated and then something went wrong and for whatever reason it would have to be put back again - could you imagine the outcry then? Right now it's bad enough.

It isn't that hard to come up with an estimate if you've done it before like a mechanic etc.

Yes but as @MandyTalk said things can go wrong... and if you give a date and it proves to be wrong I think we can all attest to the fact that we can have some unhappy people.

And the and of the Event is still first november?

The event End is still first November?

Thing is also, even giving an estimate would be wrong. Because you can write as clear as possible that this is no final date - people would not understand it. This is the internet. It works like this.
They can say: "The event MIGHT be ready in two weeks, if we manage to fix all problems. There is no guarantee for that, so please do not be upset if it will not work that way, we cannot give you are an answer which would be 100% sure"... And still people would go like "You promised us to have it ready in two weeks!!!111"... Thats how it works.

No, Peanits confirmed that the event was just being moved, not shortened. So it will still end 11 days after it starts, whenever that ends up being.

Its bether then this post on twitter. After the Tweet the most people thought only the Event is delayd not the update

Have you ever done coding?
I'm a novice at Python 3, and I can tell you that you are wrong. If finding & fixing bugs was 'like a mechanic', then no game would launch with bugs, patches would not make new bugs, etc.
Unlike an engine, where a thrown rod or misaligned driveshaft is clearly the problem, coding has other problems; maybe one word was spelt wrong. Maybe it was a bad bracket placement.
Or maybe it's something else; maybe the code controlling the animations to the new event is clashing with the running animation. But maybe it's only on Dwight, but first they have to troubleshoot, line by line, ALL the running animation code, THEN learn it's Dwight, THEN try to figure out which line of code, then WHY it's clashing..etc.
So yes, it IS that hard to estimate when it comes to coding.

Thing is, there was never a date for the Update. So you cannot say that something is delayed when a Date was never communicated.
Even tho, it is logical that the 22nd was the latest date for the Patch, since otherwise the event cannot take place.
Basically, read it as the Mid Chapter Patch got delayed.
