Freddy is Unfun to play against
Personally, it's gotten to the point where I'm about to dc every time I play against a freddy. He's sooooo unfun to play against. The invisibility when awake is surprisingly strong, and there have been multiple times where it's actually happened inside the radius. Being asleep is even worse though. It's impossible to judge distance based on the lullaby. I understand this is to confuse those who are asleep, but when I think that he's at least 16m away and he's already lunging at me from behind a wall, it's kinda infuriating. Oh, and let's talk about the lunge. It makes so many loops unsafe simply because they picked Freddy. I like playing around lunges, but even when I play freddy I realize how bs it is. I understand why he had a long lunge in the first variation, but right now he doesn't need it. A normal lunge would suffice. Another one of my least favorite parts of freddy are the add-ons. They literally give freddy stacks of Thanataphobia for existing. It's counterable, but the fact that Alarm clocks spawn so far makes having a slow-down add-on and the paintbrush insane. It's not fun.
Let me make myself clear, I don't think freddy is OP as hell and he needs insane nerfs. I just find it hard to have fun against him. Can't see [BAD WORD] cause of the blurry effect outside of a certain radius. The red light is grey-scaled. He's small, has invisibility that procs at the worst times. And a lunge to make up for all the whiffs in the world. I "hate" passive abilities. It doesn't feel like your outplaying or being outplayed when a passive ability screws you over. I love PVP, and being outplayed can be a good learning experience. But it's the same with spirit's passive phasing, you don't learn [BAD WORD] when you get caught out by it besides, "see better idiot."
Yes, most of these passive abilities can indeed be countered or at least dealt with. But I'd rather not have to try my ass off every time I look at the bottom left and see a timer. Killers should be fun to play as, as well as against. This is where I applaud the devs and how they handled demogorgon. It's fun to play as and against. But freddy just makes me want to dc.
TLDR; Freddy already has a good build, he doesn't need most of his kit based around Passive abilities that feel unfair to be caught by.

Oh yeah, and Borrowed time doesn't work in his radius if you're asleep because of the new oblivious add. Don't really think he needed that. Every other killer can outplay borrowed time, Freddy just needs to exist and borrowed time doesn't work. "Just unhook while awake then," ohhh. You have noooo idea.
Freddy can hit Those with borrowed time on them. This activates the deep wounds timer. Freddy, not having a Heartbeat, can literally moonwalk after survivors, and as long as they don't start a chase, the timer will go down and they will enter dying state. Other killers like wraith, pig, spirit, etc. can outplay borrowed by being in the right place or using their power effectively. Freddy? he just exists, lmao get countered. I personally don't run borrowed time, but I've been in a situation where I got hit from borrowed time and freddy just chased me. Luckily I had DS and I got to a locker, but I can understand other people's situation and how infuriating that could be.

...Freddy has a normal lunge. It looks longer because he's a shorty wearing a glove instead of holding a weapon, but it's a normal lunge. Everything you said about his lunge is wrong.

i personally find freddy enjoyable to go against because of his mindgame potential.
as several others have stated before, though, freddy has the same lunge range as all the other killers. it's just the illusion that makes it look longer because of his model. just go ahead and try to have fun regardless! it's not worth missing out on a killer and risking a DC penalty just because you don't like them. sit back and enjoy making the attempt of trying to escape the fog. <3

I start to see more and more of these kind of threads about how unfun freddy is.. i was planning to buy that DLC, but now, i don't know anymore.. should i buy it or buy others?

Don't listen to them, freddy is a fun killer to play, and is fun to face against. People who complain about him, just want the old freddy back where he was the worst killer in the game.

*sigh* guess we should nerf Freddy back to what he used to be, the killer that lots of people tunneled with constantly cause they didnt know how to play him and could see your aura constantly along with a 50% action speed penalty along with always being invisible unless you were asleep and having less means of waking up. Yup, let's bring back the killer everyone had fun playing against and was just obviously balanced
(Freddy is fine where he is, he used to be pretty bad and was niche in some ways, he's better for everyone now)

I think new Fredster is more fun to play against than old Fredster. That said, the global slowdown build is oppressively strong right now.

I loved playing Old Freddy. The fact that I could see where everyone was when they were asleep was a huge help in chasing them down.
Sure; the fact that every unhook was a safe unhook because I could not touch awake players, and they could push Gens while falling asleep because they were safe for the few seconds before they fell asleep, and the fact that Self Care = Free Wakeup meant Freddy was utter crap applying any pressure...But he was fun to play!
But I do enjoy New Freddy more. He's more consistant in his danger, and since he's 100% visible within..what? 10 or 16 meters? means he's not OP with his little invisibility, too.

Why not? They take a second or two to arm, they barely slow Survivors down, they are touchy on where they can be placed, and they do nothing if Survivors stay awake.
Why possible reason could there be to reduce how many he can have out?

People just dislike anything that involves invisibility, teleportation or a mixture of both. (See Nurse, Spirit, and Freddy)
If you want to DC id say go for it. Why?
Because sooner than later those harsher DC penalties will roll in with how much theyve been testing the dedicated servers. And once that time comes you'll either have to sit through a game with the killer (or survivors behavior/items etc) you dislike or face bans. Im so ready for some bans on both parts.
But no Freddy isnt unfun. Hes much MUCH healthier than old Freddy was. And personally old Freddy was just a noob stomper (mostly) because of the way his power used to work. Either the survivors were screwed or Freddy would be pretty much useless for a whole trial (if they were good or swf)
And please for the love of all things good, Every Killer has the same lunge distance.... Stop with Freddys lunge range is insane stuff. Its his model ingame which gives this feeling. Not the actual lunge being extra long.

as far as his "Passives".... well honestly I think Freddy was an amazing Rework that still kinda kept to the same play style, so I have to disagree with you on that.
Also, I don't like playing as Demo, so i can't agree there either XD

It's as simple as this he's overtuned, and needs some nerfs, same with spirit. There's reasons he's unfun to play against, and i've been saying for the longest time if he's given such utility they NEED to take away his bs lunge range.

Did you not read a single post in this thread? Freddy's lunge is the same as every killer's lunge!
Freddy does not have a larger lunge! It looks longer because he's shorter and his weapon has a shorter physical reach. Thus, in order to reduce 'He never hit me with his glove!" moments, they made his lunge animation match his attack hurtbox, which is the same as every other killer, so it looks like he is lunging further!

Borrowed time needs to work while you are asleep. Period.
Other than that, if the devs continue to make maps like hawkins lab, freddy will become more and more unfun to go against. Right now he is like billy. If your teammates make a few mistakes you will get stomped by a good freddy. But a good team can do well against a good freddy.
But if all the maps start getting only unsafe pallets like Hawkins, it will be quite unfun to play against - less skill and more a free hit at every pallet without needing to mind game at all as the freddy.
I am a little concerned about how well everything he has stacks together, but honestly right now he just needs to have the borrowed time change fixed. That's obvious.

It seems a little mindless imo. Those blood pools are rather effective at shortening loops. Seems a bit much to allow Freddy to trap every loop easily.
With that said, I don't know how you change Freddy's power. I'm just sharing my experience as someone who plays a lot of survivor.

The puddles are equally effective at killing loops as a Clown's bottle. The difference between the 2 is that your likely to be effected by the cloud sooner, and able to realize you wont make another loop which allows you to make the better educated decision to throw down the pallet and leave the loop. With the change making pallets less safe to loop, but at the same time more plentiful... Ppl are still holding onto the habits of looping each pallet as long as they can, even when they shouldnt... The puddles are giving the Freddy hits each time a survivor midjudges its effectiveness and loops something they shouldnt have.

Old Freddy was solid mid tier. Freddy, and all killers, have the exact same lunge except post blink nurse and T1/3 Myers. (Nurse's lunge is slightly slower than other killers post blink).
Because this killer is good, and can kill you, he's unfun. Sad.

Oh wow finally a brain.
The counter to Freddy/clown has always been camp pallets. You'll use loads of pallets but by then 3 gens are done if your team is smart. This works vs most killers...

Yes, survivor is more fun when you can utilize loops as much as possible. I'm all for anti loop powers, I just want them to be more skill based.
Freddy can literally chase a survivor and spam blood pools at every loop. There's no mechanical skill or advanced planning involved. If the blood pools had a slight cool down (like the clown reloading) then he would be more fun to play against. That's how I see it as well as many of the rank 1 survivors I talk to in chat see it.

The 60 second sleep timer that survivors go into should get removed. I'm getting penalized for nothing. And it starts randomly too which makes no sense.

Besides the lunge correction that everyone has already pointed out to you earlier,
I would like to add that Freddy ALSO plays in that "Ghost Screen" you don't like while you are asleep, but THE WHOLE ENTIRE GAME
I actually hate it, it's hard to see things, especially on maps with snow where things are already white.. Freddy is one of my main killers at the moment, I'll admit that he's pretty good and usually I do well, but I still also get my ass handed to me when 4 Survivors Escape and yes every few games it does happen, just depends on map and how skilled they are.. but I will never get used to that damn white "sleep screen" that's constantly happening, I very much dislike it, and I do believe it to be a disadvantage not only for the Sleeping Survivors (while they are asleep) but also for Freddy the whole entire game lol .
That one at least, is a double-edged sword.
