Should they remove the flames from hex totems?
First of all credit to djiplay for this idea, he made it in a comment in another thread. But it got me thinking and I actually agree with it. If they weren't flaming and provided more emblems and blood points to survivors it would be an incentive for them to actively look for all of them, instead of just passing up the non-lit ones when you're looking for a ruin. Obviously it should still make the thunder sound so that you know you hit it but I think this would be a simple fix in helping to slow the game a bit and make them actually useful as a secondary objective.

Should they make instead every totem a shiny one if a hex is used?

But that would just make Hex :Ruin mandatory.
Just fix totem spawns .
Ez fix.

The problem is the totem spawns. Hex totems are already well hidden on the newer maps. Making them unlit would just make them super annoying.

I don't understand, why would it be mandatory? And is it really an easy fix? If so why haven't they done it yet?

I like how everyone who doesn't develop the game always thinks everything is easy.
Not to imply that Behaviour SHOULDN'T fix issues; it's just that this mentality is unbelievably myopic.
Oh, also the OP's idea is not good. Remove all information and effectively make it random? Seriously?

Yes, that's why I suggested awarding more emblems and blood points to make an incentive to cleanse them all. It seems I always hear people clamoring for a second objective well this would make it one.
0 -
Yeah but it's arbitrary. If there's no Ruin, nobody's going to bother. Ruin then becomes "mandatory forced second objective perk."

I also love the aesthetics. I wish it became more intense, especially with Devour.

I just wish the lit totems did not make the same sound as torches on various maps. Make them sound like Whispers to survivors.
As far as hiding them, I am not sure what else they can do other than making them invisible as they are much better hidden than they used to be in most cases and especially on the newest maps.
I personally do not use Ruin as killer so I have no dog in the fight to buff the gamble/hard carry/buff already skilled killer players perk.

I think this is a good idea and should be implemented. You may have people disagree with you in your thread, but my opinion is especially of great importance.

I mean I don't see why not. You don't have to run ruin to force survivors to look for totems. They can do them if they want some easy emblem and blood points. I always hear how useless hex perks are at higher ranks, just thought this would make them more usable. But it seems like any suggestion made to make things better for killer is always met with disdain here.

No, I don't think so. I like it as it is... lit.

Well, they could make it so that survivors don't actually spawn on them xD

@Rattman I agree they should not be out in the open like they sometimes are on the older maps. Map reworks will be a nice change.

nah, cos it's already to hard to find them these days. you can literally go all the way around a bush and still not see it. i have had a couple of games where no gens get done, or maybe just one, everybody is still looking for it. sometimes i can do gens being cursed, giving me 16 skill checks. other times need the skull to be broken. so i say keep the fiery ones.

It would be nice as a perk effect.
Thrill of the Hunt anyone?
1 -
No, I mean
1 -
Lol okay, i'll take an even stronger Devour Hope.

@Rattman I understand but that is an older map that has not been reworked yet.

As a NOED user, I do not like this idea. ;)

As someone who commonly cleanses all the totems in a match (sorry @Almo you'd hate me) and who regularly runs Inner Strength, I don't want to encourage other survivors to steal my totems :)
1 -
What about the polar opposite... make TOTH make every totem appear to be a Hex Totem.
Similar effect and we get to see the pretty totems way more 😄

There are still dumb and obvious spots on the new maps yea there are good one's too but some are awful

I'm down for it

Smart move though! :)

Cover all totems up with piles of leaves or gravel. Add about 15 empty piles around the map as well. 5 seconds to dig through one and see if there’s a totem (or possibly a hex!) beneath it. Super short delay caused by this, but saves killers from lucky survivors if they’re too lazy to dig for a moment.
disclaimer: not my idea, but unsure who credit goes to. Saw this a while back here in the forums.

I think it would be a waste of a good aesthetic and audio to get rid of the flames, but I get the idea.
0 -
Yes, why not, but the killers will obviously have no information about the Hex totem... too.
And for aesthetic reasons, let's keep the fiery totems.

If you remove the flames, you'll make an already luck based perk even more luck based.
0 -
YES!
Alternatively maybe delay the flame effect at start of match? Would be a cool standalone perk or part of Thrill :)
