Percentages and Gen Times
So we probably have a new Meta of Thana and Dying, which I was doing way before it became popular. But in these days of speed penalties and percentages I wonder what they actually come down to in numbers.
My question is what does 1% equate to in seconds?
Thana has a max of 16% slower Gen speed but what does that actually mean when it comes to how long that takes for a Gen to be completed? I think 1 Gen without a toolbox with 1 person can be completed in 80 seconds but then BHVR comes in with percentages that no casual player would ever understand since there are no explanations and then we got 16% slower. But what does that mean, how many seconds is that? Do I just multiply 80 by 16%? I am not fluent in math so if the answer should be obvious please forgive me. I can go all day talking about psychology and sociology but ask me about the diameter of the sun in correlation to the size of the Earth and how many people would it take to form the mass to make up the difference in size so both can have the same diameter and I will say I don't know.

So, it takes 80 seconds to finish a generator by yourself without hitting great skill checks... if you add in the max 16% debuff from Thanatophobia... than that's like... 12.8 seconds added onto that.
So instead of 80 seconds flat, it takes 92.8 seconds to complete a generator by yourself with the entire team injured... now, we'll factor in a full stack of tokens with Dying Light on top of that. (Note, I can't find anywhere that says how many tokens Dying Light can have, but since it works off of all the other Survivors hook states besides the obsession... we'll just say for the sake of the discussion that it's 9 full stacks.)
Anyways, Dying Light gives the Obsession a 33% increase to Healing, and unhooking. But with 9 tokens on Dying Light + Thantophobia... that's a 27% decrease AND a 16% decrease from both maxed percentages on all Survivors EXCEPT the obsession...
So, the 3 Survivors that're not the obsession will get a 43% decrease to that 80 seconds... so that's in total 34.4 seconds added on to that 80 seconds making it... 124.4 seconds to complete 1 generator by yourself with no great skill checks!
the part about the obsession was changed...
You no longer get a 33% increase to repair speed, it's just unhooking and healing...
Now, since the Obsession ignores the negative effects of Dying Light, they'll just be treated as a normal Survivor that's only hit by the Thanatophobia debuff... but their 33% to healing and unhooking is cut down to 17% instead... the basic time it takes to heal is 16 seconds, so 17% increase to that is like... 2.72 seconds... which is basically nothing... So instead of 16 seconds to self heal it's like 13.28 seconds or something.
That's basically the math.

1% penalty means 80.8 seconds generators.
10% penalty is 88 seconds
16% penalty is 92.8 seconds.
A generator takes 0.8 seconds longer to complete per 1% penalty.
Thanatophobia is kinda weak in that regard as its often being joked about as the perk that only turns the progress bar red.

The obsession only gets a healing% increase now. They don't get a gen speed increase.

That's like nothing than... well, at least they don't get the debuff from Dying Light itself...
I'll edit it above.

Yeah, it's also unhook speed, LOL. That's why Dying Light + Ruin is becoming meta. Heck I even see people run those two PLUS pop a lot lately. Just had either a GOOD Nurse or a hacking Nurse(don't know if people can hack on PS4 but this Nurse looked like they were using range addons, despite having no addons. I know when I play Nurse I don't move halfway across the map in one blink though even fully charged without addons, though admittedly I don't play her much. However on PS4 you don't play much vs Nurse, until recently anyways, so I can't be 100% sure. Seen 2 Nurses in 2 days and both hit 95% of the time in one blink chain after finding a survivor, but that second one was hitting me from a mile away with one blink and I was like "Omegablink", but it supposedly wasn't. The first one WAS Omegablink though).

Speed calculations are often misunderstood, so here's how they work:
A survivor doing an action without any penalty is doing it at 100%, or 1.00 charges per second.
You can find how long it takes to complete an action by dividing the base time needed by the speed. For a generator at 100% speed: 80 seconds / 1.00 = 80 seconds.
Now add in Thanatophobia, which at max is 16% slower. So: 100% - 16%; or 1.00 - 0.16 = 0.84.
Now let's calculate generator times: 80 seconds / 0.84 = 95.2381 seconds.
This is most evident with a 50% speed penalty - think old Freddy. If you do something at half the speed, you would do half of it in the same time it would take you to normally complete it. The math: 1.00 - 0.50 = 0.50. Then: 80 seconds / 0.50 = 160 seconds.
1% is hard to equate to an exact time because the function is not linear, so each additional 1% in either direction has a different amount attributed to it.
