Matchmaking will ruin DBD faster than the ruin nerf

Although I'm against bhvr's ruin nerf the real issue for new players will be this atrocity on mankind matchmaking. You know what will ruin it for new players faster then ruin bhvr? running into the buzzsaw of either a good killer or a good swf. Getting rekt on both sides because of matchmaking will kill DBD faster then the ruin nerf which did a significant amount of damage already. You are pandering to the new players yet your game will still be super unfriendly too them with killers playing sweaty because ruin will be gone and matchmaking pitting them against players far above their skill level. However I don't think you have any real idea of how to fix matchmaking because you have no proper way too measure skill at as DBD is near completely rng based which is lazy game design unless its like No Man's Sky or something of quality. Matchmaking also takes in these rng states into consideration making fixing it likely nigh improbable. When your game is based nearly entirely on rng you ca't measure skill properly and the emblem system is also mostly rng based making ranking meaningless at best.

The first thing they have to fix before touching matchmaking is this pitiful emblem system, in which you can pip while doing ######### all as a survivor. We'll see where their newest "initiatives" ranking system takes us. Peak ranking system for killers though was when it was kill based.

As for matchmaking, we'll see if they can handle the ranking system first, I don't have high hopes seeing the direction they're taking now, but we'll find out

Emblem never made sense to me it was so based on rng that its basically useless.

Matchmaking is bad, but it's not as bad as people think. It only appears to look as bad as it is because of the lack of killers at certain ranks.

It's not RNG based, it's algorithm based. For example Gatekeeper is p=g which is points for every generator that's up at the minute mark. The issue is it isn't actually skill representative, and as such, causes a massive disparity in who actually belongs where in rank

The game is mostly rng based however and it affects a lot of ranking.

i dont know about others.. but for me I its always been I learn more when i go against best of best. as long as im getting fast lobbies im all good.. ppl these days so demanding.. this isnt a competitive game its a casual game this rank system is namesake, you contradict your own statement saying matchmaking is bad while saying ranks are meaningless... yes its frustrating when your entire team is getting downed in secs by experienced killer but that also makes it interesting for me.. unlike other games .. you have choice here to help them or just play safe and hide and hope to escape or outlast..

The biggest problem in this game is camping/tunneling/slugging. Unbreakable ds and deliverance should be default perks. Change my mind

Queue times are making this game unplayable 20 minutes to find games are very entertaining

I wrote it already in another thread: I'm afraid it's too late for making ranking up harder. Low-skilled survivors are now used to being red ranks. If the devs would want to take that away from them, the outcry would be big.

I also think this is intended. You make players feel good by leading them to believe they are very good at the game, in hopes that these people will play the game even more.

But we need a good ranking system for a good matchmaking, so probably hope is lost in this case.

I was watching my friend stream last night and they were playing a rank 17 Killer.

They were put against Rank 8-11 Survivors and their Killer queue time was less than 10 seconds.

I remember Rank 20-12 Killer queues being quite long so this is pretty alarming.

    edit: On Steam

My friend got worse, getting queued up against at least 2 red rank survivors and the rest purple or green, and he was still at rank 19. He just started playing this month, barely got any sacrifice.

The ranks are pointless because pipping as a killer gets exponentially harder, whereas survivors basically get welfare pips. And while I find fun in difficulty as well, that doesn't mean that other people do. And no that isn't being "demanding". A brand new player shouldn't run into a red rank brick wall. Because if they do? They'll quit to play a game that's more accomadating and less frustrating. Getting looped for five gens or getting instantly downed won't make you any better. Sorry to burst your "git gud" bubble.

The matchmaking will further hurt the low player retention.
