As a Survivor Main(7.9k hrs) It'd say Ruin change is horrible

Are you really saying that survivors making mistakes and getting punished for it is a bad design? You realise how absurd that sentence is right? Let FPS games remove snipers because people who can hit the shots will be punished by the slow reload/low dps.

/BT/DS/
They pretty much do that exactly and a few others as well.
0 -
RNG relates to the perks value, because it is risk and reward. Pressing E on time is a perk risk just like having an open totem on the asylum is for Hec users
0 -
Do you really have 7,9k ingame hours? Wow.
0 -
And lets not say that is bad because it is perfectly natural
0 -
This argument is extremely flawed. At least bad snipers can still go for body shots. In this case, they literally get damaged for hitting a shot, just because it wasn't a headshot.
0 -
BT I completely disagree with, DS is barely skillful with the skill check. Neither are close to the extent of old ruin.
0 -
The argument is that skill should change how you are affected by game mechanics, and "new" players should be punished for being bad.
0 -
DS is the literal definition of a perk that requires no skill since you get downed and are rewarded for it
1 -
They already are by dying extremely early at loops and not knowing what to do against certain killers. Don't need to rub unnecessary salt in the wounds.
0 -
Don't tunnel :)
0 -
I meant killer players, they are affected by these 2 perks and handle it diffrently with their amount of hours. Time for change for both of them?
0 -
Yeah, they are dying. So they learn to loop, learn to play and dont die, just like with great skill checks
0 -
As a survivor player, I say dont die within a minute of getting hooked rank 1 :)
0 -
They have the ability to handle them. Neither are unavoidable. Slug and don't tunnel.
Ruin is just there until they find a totem. It has the potential to never be countered if it's in a really good totem spot. It has the potential to get wasted immediately. Either way, bad game design.
0 -
Mmm yes. It's not like a Hillbilly can't proxy camp right outside the hook range and insta saw back and M1 you immediately or anything like that. (Hint: he can)
0 -
This game is a joke when you play killer against 4 well coordinated swf with 4 toolboxes.
It really is a joke
0 -
Well I'm sure you can dodge him and loop him on the 20+ pallets a map has
0 -
I mean are we just assuming I didn't use pallets for the original chase where he hooked me in the first place?
0 -
Disagree, if you have addons that match the value of the toolboxes and one of the balanced killers you are more than able to win
0 -
You didn't possibly use all right?
0 -
I'd assume I used the ones closest to me where he hooked me. How do I magically gain distance when he is on my tail within 3 seconds of me being unhooked.
0 -
Almo told killers to tunnel in another thread.
Also you don't need to tell me what to do, however, new killer players will not know how to handle it and lose the game because of these two. You can use both perks diffrently from the intended way in order to waste so much time of the killer again it varies depending on how much hours the killer actually has which according to you is bad design.
BTW: Pls everybody had the ability to handle old ruin as well. Do not act as if great skillchecks are something that is extremly difficult to do. Same as BT/DS it requires some learning from the person who has to deal with it. The only thing i see is, killer learn how to deal with it, survivor oh no we can not have that.
1 -
There is an unhooker that can tank a hit and he might have borrowed
0 -
New players will already not know how to extend loops, etc. You don't need to make their survival chance 0% with old ruin. It's overkill in low ranks or useless at high ranks.
0 -
*might*
0 -
What is backing up your theory of the perk being useless in high ranks? Strange isn't it i mean the perk that is useless was used the most in high ranks. Do you really want to tell me that this perk being used the most there was useless? I kinda doubt it. Do gens still get done? Yes ofc they do otherwise the perk would be broken af, but it slowed down the game regardless due to no great skillcheck progression.
I agree on new players, however it was the least used in these ranks and quite rare to stumble into it because you know matchmaking should rank new players together. Ofc people will face stuff like that when they do team up with red ranked friends but should we balance around that? I dont think that this is wise in any kind or way.
Show me other games that do balance around people who have no clue of the game.

The killer *might* proxy camp
0 -
It would do nothing at high ranks when the red ranks actually mean something. And people brought ruin because they felt like they needed it, when in reality corrupt is just better. At least this new ruin affects people who can and can't hit great skill checks alike. I had a game on the Thompson house where old ruin would've been useless because I hit my greats, but I got interrupted in the house with a 90'd gen and it went back to 0 after I got off the hook.
0 -
Then the killer might get DS'd
0 -
According to the usage rate, the chances of him getting dsed is bigger than the one of him avoiding it and again, the perk still requires no skill to be used
0 -
It requires no skill to immediately smack someone off a hook as well. At least the person who has DS has to hit a skillcheck instead of pressing m1.
0 -
Ruin doesn't pose any challenge to experienced survivor players either. It really only makes the QOL better for newer players. It was a necessary change for the health of the game. Once the bad maps are weeded out, the game will be far better.
0 -
I don't think it is that good tbh.
What if the killer just kicked that gen with old ruin?
0 -
It would have regressed 50% slower, I would've came back to a gen that still had half progress, and I would've finished it since I can hit my greats.
0 -
A rare case where new ruin did something, since you hit your greats it did not stop you from doing the gen either did it?
0 -
At that point I just had to go to a different gen since all the progress was gone. It costed me more time than if old ruin affected it, effectively making us have to do a 6th gen. Killer had a much longer game than usual.
0 -
No one is capable of hitting 100 percent great skill check all the time. The times you missed great checks with old ruin, especially early game were much more valuable than most situations for new ruin.
No one looks for new ruin, too. What's the point? Just do the Gen. Survivor skill floor is at an all time low, and it's so disappointing.
With old ruin, even if it was destroyed early, it most likely caused a few skill check regressions.
0 -
I guess I'm sorry I can hit my skillchecks?
New ruin cost me the entire gen in the Thompson house. Pushing survivors off of almost done gens is key to using it effectively while you can.
0 -
How about the next survivor has Hex Ruin 2: Bone Harder as a perk that brings back those red skill checks? Then you can enjoy them again all for yourself!
1 -
killer main here, but also a rank 6 survivor cause i play with my partner sometimes. the only survivor matches where I die anymore are the ones where I was hunting chests or hooks for the rift instead of doing gens.
1 -
Nothing about Ruin took skill when RNG is involved. You either get 1 or 10 skill-checks sometimes more. Looking for the totem was RNG unless you had a map or detectives hunch for the most part. You could have memorized certain totem spawns, but it doesn't change the rng nature of it.
The devs basically explained this perfectly. Ruin wasn't affecting veteran players much at all, but was heavily affecting newer players. It was basically carrying killers to ranks they don't deserve for the longest time. Then these killers have to play with no Ruin and blame game balance for not being Rank 1 anymore. Welcome to DBD

This rather feels like your only purpose was to show your unimportant and irrelevant 8k hours.
0 -
no I just showed my hours so people know i'm not like a baby player and I've played this game since beta, so I just expressed my opinion on the new ruin change :/
0 -
Uh no, on consoles when you buy the game you automatically get the Hag and so it's really unfair because you have rank 15s going up against a Hag with ruin and there's literally nothing they can do to win because they just started playing the game, they can barely hit normal skill checks and they don't even know how hex perks work. I'm not saying it's a good reason for the nerf because yeah ruin did add more difficulty to the game but I kinda understand why they did it. However everyone's missing the whole point, gen speeds are broken and ruin was just a band aid, something needs to be done about the gen speeds once and for all.
0 -
If there's two people on a gen, one of them will go back to it trust me new ruin is not useful against experienced survivors who could gen rush even with old ruin.
0 -
Such a weird thing to lie about. No. No one hits every great skillcheck 100 percent of the time.
0 -
New ruin is so bad even with Surveillance, it doesn't even trip off if they stay on the gen, does literally nothing against genrushes and they don't bother looking for the totem

i have no life ;(

I guess I'm sorry I can hit my skillchecks. Maybe you too will be able to one day :)
