How do you counter whispers?
When the game breaks down and you're just trying to stay immersed to get the hatch escape, how do you counter Whispers?
I honestly have no clue. They find your general area and just keep checking until they get you. And a lot of the times there's no easy way to move to new map geometry because it would leave you out in the open.

Move away from the killer.

just do gens
1 -
You dont.
Whispers is a weak perk by itself, just run away. No one runs Whispers I

you can't really counter it but the perk isn't that easy to use either though and it doesn't give you that much of an exact place where they are so i think it's fair and not broken

I'm talking about when there are still two gens left and the killer is letting the other survivor bleed out just to ensure the 4k
1 -
You heavily underestimate Whispers.
To the OP:
Unfortunately whispers is pretty much a GG when it comes to end game collapse unless the gates are close enough for you to juggle with. I've tried pebble plays to try and confuse the killer but the majority are attentive to Whispers so it's not exactly easy or convenient.

What Im saying is that Whispers sucks as a location perk, so you cant expect any counterplay. And thats the only reason its good. No counterplay at all. And always works.

Whispers is a great location perk if you understand the map and pay attention to when it goes off. There's usually only a couple places where they could be hiding and it's pretty easy to at least force the survivor into a run.
5 -
useful only vs super immersed survivors who I never see
a waste of perk slot for early and mid game.
0 -
That's why you get four perks.

Whispers doesn't need a counter. It's a very broad tracking perk. Stay away from the killer. If you're caught because of whispers, it's a risk you took by staying close by.

Get sacrificed.

By not loosing so hard that you have to use the hatch and if you manage that then by staying close to the downed survivor to confuse the killer's whispers.
If you can't get the hatch even after all that you're doomed (unless you have a key), something like killer that didn't tunnel all game just to get DS striked after the gates are open.

1 for BBQ (because grind)
2 for Stridor (because Poised + Iron Will + Lucky Break = good luck finding a survivor who break a line of sight)
3 for Rancor (because 99 pallets around)
4 for Agitation (because devs increase distance between hooks)
sorry, no space for Whispers.

I'd say the best way is not to move around when in really close proximity to the killer. That's how I usually find survivors - moving grass and breathing. If you're a fair distance away move away from the killer using line of sight blockers, while still staying within 32m distance. He'll leave, unless you're his last bbq stack. Then good luck, nothing will help you

Lol how do you deal with the killers terror radius, same thing.
0 -
You probably meant spirit fury instead of rancor, since you've mentioned pallets.
0 -
I think they meant gates, because you can't 99 pallets.
0 -
The only way you can really counter whispers is by keep moving - whispers can't pinpoint exactly where you are on a map, only the general area so if you keep moving the killer won't be able to pinpoint your actual location.
4 -
Mostly what others have said. But I recommend left behind perk if you find yourself looking for hatch often. It'll come in handy. Faster you find it, faster you can get out.
0 -
Where did I say it cant be
0 -
Spirit Fury alone is weak.
Rancor, because by the time you will break all pallets all generators will be done. Pray God that other survivors wont come and bodyblock you.
0 -
Yeah, it is, because all it does is tell you that "there is someone nearby" or "there is no one nearby". You can use it to find first/last survivior or to check on gens faster but thats it really.
You can waste a lot of time trying to find someone with whispers, but it also can help you find someone a bit faster. The thing is that the information is completely inaccurate, and the only reason this perk is good is that it has no counterplay

Atm I just start running across the whole map as soon as I'm the last person left. Most times it's just a case of whoever finds the hatch first, wins. Matches rarely end with the last survivor losing a chase while the hatch is still available.
However, if you try to counter Whispers in a sneaky way, I can only suggest to keep moving. Standing still is certainly the last thing you want to do. Try to read what the killer might be thinking. They'll most likely use Whispers to triangulate your position, so sometimes it is useful to follow them while other times it is wiser to back off. In general though, there is not much counterplay to a dedicated Whispers user, which is why it is pretty strong (but not overperforming imo).

How can I counter camera movement? like, whispers only does that and you're asking for an nerf?
0 -
He didn't even ask for a nerf.
1 -
It's pretty much an end game nightmare for survivor when they have to try to open a gate but aside from that I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
0 -
lol, just too used to it lol
0 -
Given that its not a "specific location" perk, it doesn't need any counterplay.
1 -
Whispers has about as many counters as Decisive Strike does.
Zero.
0 -
Be near other survivors. When Whispers goes off the killer has no idea how many are nearby just that someone IS nearby.
Stay out of heartbeat range. If the killer always seems to have you inside their heartbeat then they likely have Whispers.

Im surprised you dont use something like Wake up or spine chill instead of left behind, because usually the killer slugs the 4th if it comes down to it, and opening the exit gate fast and letting your team know where you are comes in clutch sometimes. Or spine chill for when the killer is heading your way.

So here's the problem with this, whispers is a counter to immersing, so you're basically asking how do I counter the counter to what I'm doing. Also I dunno just use a key like everyone else I guess.

Bruh ever since asking you about ur surv build a month or so ago Ive been addicted to bond/kindred/open handed (it makes bond and kindred soooooo freaking good). I dont think Id have the heart to remove it lol Im in red ranks and I still prefer and do best with this build over the boring meta. Im able to know almost at all times where the team is, if i need healed its so easy to find someone, and kindred shows everyone exactly where the killer goes to keep everyone safe if im hooked or I know to work on a gen if someone else is hooked.
I guess ill try left behind, I actually havent used it much but who knows I might get some use out of it.

Ive really liked Leader its helped me alot. But i cant seem to get any use out of left behind, i havent had it come in to save me, YET. I have liked using better together tho. Seems like team mates come to me to heal alot.

Whispers tells you when to use static blast as doc to find people.
No cooldown like crows
Forces survivors to panic run
And helps with pressure

Detectives Hunch might be worth it here to prevent 3 gens and noed especially. What do you think?
