New gen idea
Is this a good idea?
Each survivor starts the game with 1 of 4 tools. Each tool can only repair a certain percentage of each generator. This forces survivors to move about more and not just hold m1.
Now each tool can be unique, like one does more repairing but has more frequent skills checks than another.
If a survivor dies, there tool is left on the ground or spawned in a new location that the survivors can see and must be picked up.
This might be too much but it was just a thought I had.

the concept is cool don’t get me wrong but gens aren’t the problem the problem is toolboxes and swfs running a minimum of 2 in their team and running prove thyself also the maps are a big factor as you can’t keep up with the gens being so far apart and there being too many strong loops and vaults like disturbed ward’s main building as soon as I see someone run in there I immediately break chase because it’s super difficult to catch people in that building unless they’re a potato.

Good idea, I can add a toolbox of 4 can not fix, but only able to repair when a Gen reached to 95%. Like a tool that trigger Gens to finally work.
Though your idea still have the flaw, 3 people still can fix on the same Gen and complete in no time

I know it won't fix the map issues but the hope is if you can eventually get one killed or scatter the swf in the game then it might slow them a bit.

True, but my hope is something like this might slow it a little. Maybe one of the tools will make the user gain no benefit from prove thyself, or one tool might require you do a different type of skill check (like one that requires 2 button presses).

Easily abusable. If you camp to death, you can effectively stall all gens. Then whoever picks up the tool has to go through 5 gens. If you catch them, or alternatively catch anyone else while having at least 3 gens with some regression, you can camp and stall again.
To be feasible the tool must be respawned immediately upon hooking and the killer should not be able to see it, or it could just be camped.
Or, you would have to make it such that any 3 tools would have to be able to get a gen to 95-ish%. However, it would still encourage camping to get a lot of cheap 2ks which could be turned into 3-4k.

I'm aware that any idea like this would need to be refined to figure out what happens when a survivor dies. And I don't consider any 2k game as cheap because that is clearly what the devs have set as their standard.
I agree the killer shouldn't be able to see the tools at anytime as that would give them too much information.
