What do you do to help the "other side"?

We all talk about "punishing the other side", but we never talk about what we do to help the other.

XBOX btw

As killer (Rank 1, Trapper and GF mains): I don't tunnel, camp, I don't bring NOED nor Ruin (not even old Ruin), I let 1 guy go if I owned the team, if 1 guy DCs I leave one gen to be repaired chase free for the 3 remaining suvs, if 2 DC it's a farm game now. I mori ONLY instead of death hook if I bring in an Ebony Memento mori.

As surv (Rank 1, Bill, Dwelf and Kate mains: I don't bring in an item if I see 2+ toolboxes, I tend to bring in balanced map offerings for the killer not to get Yamaoka or Rottenfields, me and my susual SWF go "easy mode" when we notice it's a low rank (green, yellow or grey) going against us, even let him farm at the end or give him/her 2 free late game kills cause of the EGC if he wasn't camping or tunneling if he ever got us. I never bring in keys.

When I play killer I do my best not to go after the person that just got unhooked. If I happen to run into them again or can't find their unhooker, I'll slug them with no intention of returning (basically giving them a chance to reset, but at the expense of a teammate helping them). If I go against an exceptional survivor that isn't toxic, I'll make sure to let that one live. Looping irritates a lot of killers for some dumb reason, but if I'm getting looped and they make some good plays/reads, I love it.

As survivor I like bringing Azarov's or MacMillan offerings because I think they're the most balanced for both sides, except for Blood Lodge, of course. If a killer had a particularly rough game (less than 5 hooks and nobody dies), I'll sacrifice myself at the end. I don't teabag or point or anything toxic unless the killer has major tunnel vision. Then it becomes a game of "well, let's see if I can tilt him into chasing me for all five gens." Then when I know the gates are ready, I'll let him kill me while the other 3 escape. If he wanted me so bad, he must be happy I died, right? lol

It's not really specifically to help the other side, but I don't really go out of my way to bring other items than cheap flashlights/medkits/maps for points and totems, and I don't really ever use moris. I just find most of the items either silly (keys) or just sorta boring.

I don't really go out of my way to camp/tunnel or spam super strong loops either. Because again I personally find it boring and I'd honestly rather lose and do something I find interesting. I enjoy chasing, outplaying and getting outplayed more than anything, and I don't really get much of that if I just camp someone to death or vault the ironworks window 3 times at the start of every chase that happens near it.

I let people go if I feel like it as well, and if I'm the last alive and the killer closes the hatch I often just spam a locker or something and nod at them when they come over. Now with all the challenges I will happily let a killer kill me in any way they want at the end of the game if I finished a challenge that match.

I guess I'm overall fairly "casual" as I don't care too much about end results like how many people I kill or if I escape, and I also barely consider anything "toxic" (if someone doesn't go full rage monster in postgame chat, anything goes in my eyes). So my mindset is probably pretty foreign to a lot of players 😄

If I am running survivor and I see the killer is struggling, I'll often make sure they get a chase with me and get the kill. Furthermore, if I can tell they are trying to achieve something and not being toxic about it, I usually try to help out. Like the killer who keeps trying to bring us to the basement; he's possibly trying to work on the tome achievement, so I'll run there during the chase to make sure they get it.

As a killer, I usually let the last person go, unless they were toxic or clearly hid the whole time. I will usually wait until someone finishes searching the box before I hit them....not sure why, but eh. If you are unhooked in front of me, I'm not going to rehook you. If I down you, I'm going after the butthead who unhooked you before I could leave.

If I'm a Survivor and the Killer gets a late game DC that should have been a kill or has a bad game I'll let them kill me.

If I'm a Killer I almost always let someone go and if someone gets downed by hitboxes, a bug, or garbage teammates throwing them under the bus I'll usually get them up off the ground by spamming pick up and drop.

But I do that cuz I usually like being nice, not because I feel like I owe them anything.

I dont bring BT or DS.

    Ever.

I have thrown myself on the hook at times when 2 DC and i have enough points to safety pip.

I tell non hatchet throwing monsters to use hatchets.

I tell non trap setting trappers to set more traps.

Never took any items nor offerings (and if, just for BPs) into a trial. Don't use any Exaustion or Meta Perks by 90%. And as i'm on console, i might sacrifice myself to a good Nurse or Huntress.

My Huntress or Pig never brings NOED, Blood Warden can be more fun. Mostly i don't bring any addons nor offerings (and if, just for BPs). Mostly the unhooker will get my aggro. Free Hatch or Escapes depends how they played and if i actually want to pip. Can be the weak link, because it's a cute Feng or Dwight - or i do some "extra" chases with a solid Looper for practise and then let them go.

One thing with the "free Hatch" i noticed is: Killers do much more good things for survivors then the other way. In 2-3 years i only remember 5-10 surviors sacrificying "in respect" to my "skills" compared to the >500 free hatches i gave them.

Helping other side is against the rules

Oh so you're my potato solo teammate that sneaks around in the corner while the killer camps me.

Sabotaging your teammates is against the rules, actually. That has nothing to do with helping the other side.

It's easier for people to connect with the "victim" emotionally, in case you were wondering why this occurs.

Farming isn't bannable is what I remember the devs saying.

I don't use Key's. Honestly the idea of abusing the free win mechanic makes me feel dirty and toxic.

If I see the killer is really struggling and they didn't camp or tunnel, then I may let them hook or even kill me at the end of the match.

As killer, if I see keep running into one survivor, I'll often give them a lot of second chances in case they're low rank or just having an unlucky match.

I am getting better. I am not found first anymore unlike before. I ditched urban. But i wont use ds or bt and will do saves when they are safe and not within 2 seconds of the killer leaving. I run we will make it more so i can heal faster. I am not that bad. I am not a potatoe.

Though i don't do it for them, i very rarely camp & very rarely tunnel after hooking them.

Whether that's fine to do or not, i see it generally be disliked, so good for them.

But i only don't do those cause camping bores me & i like jumping targets, i don't want anyone to feel safe for the entire match.

The only thing I feel personally against using against a Killer to help them would be keys. I never bring them and if I find them in a chest, I leave them behind.

  • ASAPTurtle
    ASAPTurtle Member Posts: 968

I usually don't bring in anything when I start a match besides perks.

I'm also not a non-meta-slave. Mainly for survivor. I use Q&Q, Iron Will, Resilience, and either SB, or Lithe most of the time.

  • TheDiz

I use to play like that until I started encountering the toxic SWF flashlight, teabagging, body blocking even when your just farming "ez" crap talking teams so damn often and super sweaty even though half the team DC on first down killer mains. The toxic community has lead me to be less forgiving. I still give last survivor hatch if they weren't toxic SWF and only mori on death hook.

Iron Will and an Exhaustion perk = 2 meta perks = filthy repetitive meta build

    Nice build mate

I used to let survivors go if I caught them being stupid, like self caring in my terror radius behind a tree when I had Nurse's Calling, but now I think that if you punish them for it they learn from their mistakes and won't do it in the future.

  • ASAPTurtle
    ASAPTurtle Member Posts: 968

Iron Will is a perk that isn't terribly bad to go against. Never seen people rage over it before. And lithe is considered a bad perk to most honestly, and it's not common in red ranks at all.

I show no mercy. I've reached my limit. I do what must be done. If im killer i kill them all if im.survivor and ecit gates are powered and everyone is safe i leave immediately.

I never use keys or moris, I never tbag or emote a killer and if the last surv doesn't wiggle I let them take hatch/open the exit gates.

  • I am the same way, I've tried playing nice but I keep getting spit in my eye, not doing it anymore.

Survivors will use literally everything they can to win, killers should do the same, and we should all just be respectful in post game chat or just move on. That is the game ideally.

Nothing. I'm a killer main and why I should help the survivors. When I could take the win myself.

As survivor I don’t bring in any items.

As killer I don’t tunnel unless you’re toxic. I also punish survivors that troll/sandbag or hide in bushes rather than contributing to gens.

As killer, if I have enough pressure, the unhooked survivor is invisible to me. Even if unhooked in my face. I don't run Ruin or NOED, unless I'm Memerface in which case I'll use NOED to look scary. However, whoever I just hit with NOED gets carried to the totem to break it.

If I'm facing baby survivors and I'm curb stomping them, I will purposely face their direction when picking a survivor up so they can get a flashlight save. Last but not least, if the last survivor wasn't toxic and doesn't wiggle when I pick them up, buckle up, you're riding the Hatch Express.

As survivor, if I'm facing a noob killer, I'll stop playing optimally and be more chill. I'll let them succeed at a mindgame or two. I won't use god loops against them. Sometimes if I feel really bad for them, I'll point at a hook and give 'em a kill.

Generally I like to give the killer hits on my way out the door. I'll wait there and point at the exit to tell the killer to smack me twice. If they leave me there I'll just leave.

As survivor I never bring items or any offering that's not bp bonus and usually go for chests/totems before doing a gen. i mostly run perks like wglf, iron will and something off-meta only if I've been tunneled a lot I bring ds. I'll only commit to gens if the killer plays like a dick.

As killer I don't tunnel unless the run I to me. if that happens I slug and let them go. I never bring add-ons because I think killer is too easy with add-ons and I don't bring offerings except for bp ones.
