Deranking system needs to change
People keep complaining about the matchmaking, but the real problem is the "new" deranking system that only takes you back to the previous color, rather than taking you back 10 ranks.
The direct effect to this is that people who shouldn't be high ranks are, because they didn't derank enough, and now level 12 killers get matched up against 4 red ranks because everyone's a red rank instead of being green as they should be.
Few suggestions..
1- bring back the old deranking system, with the changes to both deranking and matchmaking, it broke more than it fixed, leave the matchmaking as it is, it'll work just fine if you derank people more realistically.
2- make people derank two colors back, not just one
3- do like every other game with a seasons system and derank everyone back to 20 at every rank reset. Maybe make resets happen every two months instead of every month if you go that route.

They used to, but they also changed the way matchmaking works to match killers with the closest ranked survivors in case of no survivors within the killer's rank.. Which is why you get rank 12 killers matched with red ranks.. because everyone's red rank since no one deranks enough anymore!
The matchmaking is working as intended, it's the deranking that doesn't derank people enough for both to work together.

Well, it isn't so much that no one deranks enough as much as a problem that many people purposefully derank too often which makes rank based matchmaking too hard. Also with how simple it is to actually gain ranks over time, ranks shouldnt be the end all indicator of a player's skill. I am currently 7 Surv and sometimes I play like that. Other times I am a potato. My killers are only like 15 or so because i have been doing a lot of swf lately.

Oh I agree with that. I'm hovering between 3 and 4 on survivor and honestly I'm only red rank because I play a lot, not because I'm good. I suck at getting chased and looping and juking. Sometimes I somehow manage to get chased for a while, and then next game I go down in 10 seconds.
I'm around 8-10 on killer, and I get matched with red ranks a lot lately (like everyone else, I guess), and regularly get 4 kills, or at least everyone on hook once or twice, but don't rank up enough because I also get bad games where generators get done too fast, but I run perks I like to have fun, not the meta perks to win. I'm better at chases as the killer than survivor though, that's for sure haha

True. I mean, I know they're reworking the whole ranking and matchmaking system, but until that comes out, they need a temporary fix to this mess that's happening right now, with everyone and their mom being red ranked survivors and even brown ranked killers getting matched against 4 of them.

They will rework the matchmaking so ranks will be pointless.

Yeah but when? And what happens in the meantime?
I mean, if the rework comes out in 2-3 weeks with the next chapter, I'm fine with it. If it comes out next summer, I rather not have to wait 5-6 months for the fix..
An announcement telling us when to expect those changes would be more than welcome.

I agree, but I would rather have a polished bug free matchmaking that will come later than buggy matchmaking that will come sooner.

Oh definitely, me too! But it's getting out of hand, when new players get matched up against red ranks.. It took me a few months before getting matched against those players, at least I had time to practice against people my own rank. It's like expecting a high school football team to get better playing against an NFL team.
It doesn't help retain their player base if the game's not fun for the players getting matched up against the wrong ranks.
